Hoping to keep to the facts and leave the emotion out of this report... please forgive me if I stray. Fridge not cooling...went to Angie's to find a repair service. Called another company listed who referred me to this firm (AAA). I checked them out on Angie's, ratings, looked good so I called them on a Thursday. They came out the next day. Said the problem could be one or both of two different parts, so they liked to replace both at the same time, but they only had one part on the truck so needed to order the other part. Repairman said it probably would be available on Monday. I need to add my particular circumstances since I am a renter and the repair needed to be approved by my landlord. She already knew about the needed repair but wanted to know the cost before committing. While the repairman was here I called my landlord at 4:05 p.m., but only was able to leave a message. He said I needed to call back to the office when I get the OK from the landlord and then they would order the part. Reasonable policy. The repairman left at 4:15 and my landlord called back at 4:38 and gave approval for the repairs. I called AAA at 4:39 to say I got approval and to order the parts. AAA then called me back at 4:42 to ask that, since this was a landlord/tenant situation, how was the bill going to be paid. I said I would pay it and then get reimbursed and they said OK. The following Monday, I called AAA at 12:20 p.m., spoke with Bonnie, to ask about them coming out Tuesday and was told the parts had not come in for the day and they wont schedule the re-visit until they have the parts in... they will call me. By Thursday, I had not been called so I called AAA. Their answer was that they had not ordered the parts since I never called back to give approval. I told them I did call and they even called back to ask how the repairs would be paid. They said they had "no record" of any calls (but I do on my cell phone bill!). Over the course of 3 successive calls, I finally spoke with Bonnie who said this wasn't usual--they pride themselves in customer service, and apologized. They would order parts. The next day, I hadn't heard from them so called them in the afternoon. Evidently, the parts supply was closed for inventory and they couldn't order until Monday, pick up Tuesday so the soonest they could come would be Wed. We booked for Wed between 4 and 6. On Wed at 5:42 p.m., the repairman called to say he was "pretty far away" and could not make it by 6 due to distance and rush hour traffic. Since I had to be at class by 7 p.m., I told him I would have to rebook. I called and left a vmail for Bonnie. The next day Bonnie called and we re-set another time for around 5:30 that night. She thought the time looked good but would have to get back to me to confirm. About 4 hours later they called to say the repairman could not make it that night, so I would have to wait until the next day Finally Friday, 2 weeks from the original visit, they showed up. Whew!
Description of Work: Replaced two refrigerator parts: display board inside of refrigerator and main control board behind refrigerator.

ALL AMERICAN DOES INDEED PRIDE ITSELF IN CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND OFFERED THE CLIENT A DISCOUNT FOR THIS CLIENT, WHICH HE DECLINED. WE ALSO DID TRY TO BE UNDERSTANDING WHEN FINALLY SCHEDULING THE CUSTOMER. THE FIRST APPOINTMENT WAS BETWEEN 4-6 WE DID NOT KNOW THE CUSTOMER HAD MADE PRIOR ARRANGEMENT AT 7:00 EVEN IF THE TECH HAD ARRIVED AT 6:00 IT STILL WOULD HAVE NOT ALLOWED ENOUGH TIME FOR US TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR BY 7:00. THE CLIENT HAD INDICATED LATER WAS BETTER, SO HE WAS PUT ON FOR THE LAST CALL. THIS WAS DONE SO THE CUSTOMER WOULD NOT HAVE TO TAKE OFF WORK, TO ACCOMMODATE US, AS WE DID CLEARLY HAVE A MIS-CUMMUNICATION AND YES IT WAS OUR FAULT. WHILE WE DON'T LIKE TO MAKE MISTAKES, THEY CAN AND DO HAPPEN. WE ARE SORRY THIS CLIENT HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AND NO THIS CERTAINLY IS NOT HOW WE RUN OUR COMPANY. THE EMPLOYEE INVOLVED WAS DISCIPLINED AND KNOWS THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT MAKING A MISTAKE OF THIS NATURE. WE LOVE OUR ANGIE'S LIST CUSTOMERS AND WANT TO ALWAYS HAVE GREAT REPORTS.

It's hard to imagine a washing machine repair service as a pleasant experience but this was. I left a message before they opened Monday morning, got a very pleasant return call within 30 minutes of their opening, and got an appointment for the very next day. They could've came the same day but it didn't work with our schedule. The technician called 15 minutes before arrival, as promised. He showed me the broken part, fully explained what had happened to cause the problem, and cleaned the area where he had worked! He was very professional and pleasant. We will definitely call this company again for any other appliance repairs!
Description of Work: The repairman replaced the coupler in our washing machine and replaced 12 year-old rubber hoses with stainless steel reinforced hoses.

Dishwasher started flashing "slow/blocked drain" message on a Saturday morning. I spent most of the morning following the owner manual recommendations to clean air gap, drain hoses, etc. to no avail. Emailed All American from their website estimate page on Sunday. Received phone call Monday morning explaining that they could not provide an over the phone estimate for that issue as there could be numerous causes. Called them back on Monday evening and set up appointment for Wed morning. They called ahead as promised an arrived in the middle of the 2 hour window they had provided. Pete checked several things out and determined the pump had gone bad and because of that, a leak had also started. His estimate was from $300-$400. We decided to replace the washer ($69.95 for the estimate) but were pleased with the promptness and professionalism of the company.

Left a message before office hours. Received a call back immediately after the office opened. The phone contact was very pleasant, and it was easy to get someone scheduled to come to the house. It turned out that the washing machine was fine. But they were courteous, professional, arrived on time, and they didn't gouge me on the service call charges.

Called one day and repairman arrived as scheduled the next morning. After a detailed troubleshot found that drain hose was mis-positioned and quickly solved the problem. BTW had home warranty coverage (new home sale) which has proven to be worthless. In this case their repairman said it was a bad gasket-which was not covered and left it still leaking with his deductible.

My fridge broke while we were on vacation. It was no longer cooling the fridge. I needed the fridge repaired asap because with a family of 5 takeout gets expensive. I called around and they would be available fastest. Two days later it was repaired and were able to enjoy finally having milk in the fridge!

The repair man arrived right on time. Called first to say he was on his way. Quickly examined my washer, showed me rust and signs of long term wear. Suggested that high cost of repair to old machine didn't make sense, and suggested I buy a new one. Looked at noisy dryer. Said it could last a long time or konk out but that again repairs to a 15 year old machine didn't make sense. He replaced the clip on the dryer door to keep it snuggly closed. Looked at wheels on dishwasher. Replaced them for me. He had them on the truck even though I had not scheduled to have that examined. He replaced all the wheels on top level and mentioned that they are expensive because you have to buy them from the manufacturer. Said bottom wheels are fine and I could replace them myself if they every stopped working because easier to install. Felt like he was on my side. He was very well informed-- knew what he was looking at and talking about. I can see why they receive your special awards. I mentioned the discount that Angie's list rep told me about when I called and he told me to deduct it from the payment. Once again, first class service.
Description of Work: Examined and scheduled an estimate for repairs on a screeching washing machine and dryer -- both older models. The morning of the visit I remembered I should have listed the dishwasher to be examined as well, wheels kept de-railing. I called the office to ask them if they could add that to the list and they said go ahead and just ask the repairman to take a look at it, no problem.

The same day I called, they came sent a gentleman that afternoon to see if he could repair the washing machine. Unfortunately, he had to special order an obscure part that was not usually carried by his company. The part was ordered that day and two days later he was back with the part and repaired my washer. He was extremely kind and informative, explaining what the part is for and how it broke. The repair cost was so much less than I expected.

See above info. Also, I was given a 10% discount for being an Angie's list member.
Description of Work: Ice maker in bottom freezer was leaking and not making ice any longer. Called All American on Monday morning and technician came on Tuesday morning. Called me 20 minutes prior to the visit so that I didn't have to wait at home. Was told that I needed an new inlet valve for the ice maker. Part was ordered and I received a call on Weds that the tech would be back out on Thursday afternoon. Received another call on Thursday afternoon at my office that technician would be at my house in 20 minutes. Tech found a problem with the ice maker itself and had to make several calls for help. All in all, the visit was over two hours and I was told that I will need to keep an eye on the ice maker for future problems. The technician was very polite and tried to explain everything to me. I will call them again for future visits.

The woman on the phone was very pleasant. They were able to come out within a day or two after I called. The man who came checked out the appliances, told me what he recommended and said the office would call with prices and to let me know if parts were in stock. It was a $70 charge to come out and look at two different appliances. When they came back out to do the work another day, this was deducted from that day's total.

I called in to request a technician and was given an appointment within two days. Scott came out, arriving within the window provided (even called ahead) to assess what/where was the source of my dishwasher leaking and quickly determined the problem. Unfortunately, the problem required ordering a part. In the meantime I was instructed not to use the dishwasher. I had hoped to hear back within a week as Scott said it usually takes just a few days to get parts in, but after two weeks from the initial visit I gave a call to check on the status and learned that the part was in and they could be out the following Monday (I called on a Friday). Scott came out again arriving within the window, calling ahead and fixed my dishwasher and it's working great now. No more leaks!

The company gave me a 4 hour window for the visit and the technician called when he was getting close. He arrived on time and was friendly and responsive to questions. When I recieved the invoice, I asked was surprised at the cost and asked about the cost of the part since he had worked on the fridge for about 15 minutes. He told me that it was about $100 which means the labor was $172. I thought that was a bit steep, but with travel time considered it wasn't completely out of bounds. In preparing to write this review I looked the 3 in 1 up and found that I can buy it on ebay for $10. At this point, I am not happy to have been charged $260.00 for what amounted to a 30 min visit, adding travel time of even 45 min each way, that's $130 hour. The dilemma would appear to be that one cannot compare prices without knowing the problem. Being pressed for time and having a melting freezer necessitates getting it fixed right away. Not the best circumstance but one must pay for convenience.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator had stopped cooling. The technician came out and tested a few things and identified that starter had gone out. He removed several components-overload, relay and starter capacitor and replaced it with a 3 in 1 unit.

I had originally contacted another provider on Angie s List, which referred me to this company (they weren't on the radius that I had originally indicated). Once I saw their ratings on Angie's List (straight "A's"), I contacted them. This was probably the best service of any kind that I've had; from the phone call all the way to the service billing. I hoped that if it wasn't the heat element that needed replaced (which we all thought initially) they wouldn't overcharge for a much less costly part and service; (e.g. thermal fuse), which they didn't.
Description of Work: The technician, Billy, determined I needed a thermal fuse replacement in my clothes dryer. He then did the work in less than 20 minutes. He was available early and I was as well.

We have two elderly refrigerators. Both developed the same problem at the same time. They were not cooling. It turned out that different things were worn out in each fridge. One needed a new condenser fan, and the other needed a defrost timer. The repairman fixed them both. One month afterwords, the problem recurred in one of the refrigerators, the one with the new defrost timer. I called All American and reported that the problem had recurred, and they sent out the same fellow who came out before. He assessed the problem, explained it to me, and ordered a part (a thermostat). He came out for the third time and installed the new thermostat. For the two follow-up visits, there was no additional charge! I consider that good service.

He came in, fixed it in shorter order and gave me suggestions and clues to watch out for in dealing with the refrigerator. He was careful to keep things clean, clean up after himself and did everything in a friendly and workman-like fashion. Once the ice maker was replaced, I've had no problems at all.
Description of Work: My 13 year old refrigerator was not working, with water coming out of the ice maker and covering the freezer. Billy came over when promised and charge $119 to clear the line and defrost an ice block. When the problem reoccurred the next day, he returned the morning after my follow up call (it was NOT an emergency for us). He said the ice maker was broken and replaced and installed it for the cost of parts only $145, but no additional fees. He was open and told me exactly what the issues were and what he thought was the problem.
