Description of Work: The company worked the day before Thanksgiving to remove a tree with a lot of debris that had fallen in our backyard during one of those big storms.

 + -1 moreI thought the project went very well. The arborist who looked at the trees discussed both what I wanted and what he proposed to do. He then explained to the crew that did the work what he wanted done. Because of rain the work had to be rescheduled, but the arborist kept me informed about the new schedule. The crew was very efficient and courteous. They got my input as they went along. Clean up was very good. I would use this company again for this kind of a project since they really seem to know what they are doing.
Description of Work: The company perforned structural pruning on 2 large red maple trees and minor pruning on another large poplar tree. The pruning on the maples was to try to obtain a better single leader by thinning and reducing competing trunks, reduce the wind drag on the canopy and reduce the weight on some of the major branches.

 + 2 moreThey were awesome. I called back the next year and wanted a Big Deal, and even without it, it was worth the money. I really noticed a superior, dramatic quality increase in the yard and shrubs. They also did some soil pH testing, and we needed to add lime so that we could overcome they high clay content in this part of the country. My only complaint about them is that they’re pricy. I got quotes from other vendors and they were one of the highest bids. It’s kind of what your mom told you growing up, though: you get what you pay for.

 + -1 moreI was not impressed with SavATree - Springfield. They sent some inbred moron to my house with this machine that tore up my yard. He actually removed part of our fence and part of our neighbor's fence to get this machine from the back of my house to the other side of my house and left wheel ruts where we could actually follow the direction he took from removing this machine from the back of his truck. He left tracks in my front yard, my side yard, my backyard, and my side yard. He took my neighbor's fence down and left it down. When I got home from work that day I immediately called the SavATree office and it took 2 weeks for one of them to get back to me. One of the supervisors came out a couple days later and said "oh wow, yeah look what he did, uh huh, yup." They offered to, in the spring or whenever we wanted it done, we were going to have a sidewalk put in to the back of our house where we were have a private entrance to an apartment we were building. I was so fed up with this guy, his responses, and his lack of professionalism on their part that I said screw it and had it done by somebody else. I haven't spoken to them since and don't plan to. I won't ever use them again.
Description of Work: We used SavATree - Springfield. They came out and removed some stumps from both sides of the house. They were old rotted stumps so they ground them up.

 + 0 moreWent very well. We purchased the Big Deal that they offered. A representative came over and went over all of the offerings. Once we signed a contract they tested our soil so they could provide the best mixture of fertilization for our yard. SavATree came out 6 times for application and helped us revive our lawn. We also had them do an arbor kelp treatment to help the trees, one did not make it, at no real fault of theirs. At the end of the summer we had them irrate the entire yard. We'll see how that turns out when spring comes.

 + 2 moreOur neighbor referred them to us. The fellow who came out was very knowledgeable. He is a certified arborist and licensed in Maryland. He was professional. He had the answers to anything we might ask. He gave us a lot of information and let us know there were some things we didn't need to do. He wasn't the cheapest but I felt he was appropriate for what we needed. They do not use summer hires for their work. We feel comfortable that we will get someone competent to do the work. He was on time
Description of Work: We signed a contract with SavATree but have not had the service yet. They are going to be doing wood borer treatments, feeding the shrubs and trees, lawn care, lawn treatments and soil analysis, treatments for Carpenter ants, a whole bunch of stuff. They will start this spring.

 + -1 moreThe guy that came out was unbelievable. They are all actual arborists. He educated me about the tree and made sound recommendations. He explained everything thoroughly. The cherry blossom tree bloomed beautifully this year, they did a great job. There was also a cedar tree that I thought needed cut down, but he was able to save it and it looks amazing.

 + -1 moreI believe we originally called Sav-a-Tree a few years ago for an estimate on adding a row of trees along our privacy fence. David K. showed up promptly and was professional and knowledgeable. During his visit he displayed such enthusiasm and knowledge for plants and trees that while we did not use the company for this project (the estimate was out of our budget), we were sure to call them for other work. Most recently, we had three landscaping trees that had begun to lean after Hurricane Sandy. He was able to tell us WHY the trees were leaning (improper planting) and assured us that they could be saved. We were thrilled. The team showed up just as promised and the work was prompt. David even followed-up with his crew's completed job. Great job, Sav-a-Tree! Some of the stakes have since pulled up but once the Holidays are over, I will call them back to fix the issue. I have great confidence everything will be fine!

 + -1 moreThey were punctual and courteous. They said that our lot was larger than 20,000 sq ft and they would have to charge us more. We finally agreed on what areas they would apply the fertilizer to for the agreed upon price. They assured my wife and I that the fertilizer would b safe for our dogs. The fertilizer was applied but it did not appear that they covered all of the areas that we had agreed to. The product did seem to work where it was applied. We were offered other lawn care packages that we chose not to use.
Description of Work: The technician described the fertilizer that he would be applying and the proceeded to fertilize the lawn.

 + 0 moreWhen the aeration finally occurred, and it was not scheduled as quickly after I committed to the treatment as I would have preferred, as it took well over one month to accomplish, I happened to be at home and was amazed at how rapidly the worker with his aerator arrived, took one pass over most of the yard, loaded the equipment back on his truck and departed. When I walked the yard he had not covered the entire yard, clearly, and his lack of thoroughness was disappointing as he simply left a "done" notice on my door without asking about my satisfaction with his work. In any event, it was enough when coupled with the rep's upsales efforts to convince me that I did not want to deal with this company again. Then they kept sending me contracts for lawn maintenance and treatments that I did not want. When I dealt with them over the phone to schedule the aeration, the service was polite and helpful, but the quality of the final product did not meet my expectations. So I won't be doing business with them again.
Description of Work: The Angie's special offer was for aeration of the lawn, a certain size for a special price. Unfortunately, given the passage of over a year, I don't remember the exact cost, but I do remember that when the company rep came to my home for an estimate he said that my lawn was bigger than the size covered by the offer, so I would have to pay an additional cost. I agreed to the price. The lawn was eventually aerated according to their schedule. I was less than satisfied because the worker made only one pass over the yard, rather than criss-crossing so that the entire lawn was completely aerated. Having done this task several times myself, I know the amount of time and effort it takes to thoroughly aerate the yard. But it was done and paid in full. The company rep attempted to upsell me on several lawn and tree services, which I understand given the opening presented, but I gained the impression that had I bought any of the upsells I might have received better aeration treatment. Also, while the rep may be a tree expert, some of the explanations which he gave me for his diagnoses of supposed ailments the trees in my yard were suffering did not jibe with my experience in caring for my yard for the past 20 years, i.e. the effort to justify the upsales with his statements did not seem justified nor acceptable, especially given the amount of expense involved for the treatments he was selling.

She also followed up with me just prior to the service being performed.
