R M Banning Roofing

Description of Work: The cover to the attic blew away in a thunder/wind storm, leaving a hole in the roof, where I could see the sky. We have a shaker shingle roof. Needed a company that understood how to work on the shakes without breaking them, and could install a new attic fan. Their response time was excellent. The fan they installed was much heftier and had a metal hood. Having worked with them as they installed the new fan, I don't expect any problems. They were very knowledgeable and courteous.

Description of Work: I wanted the wood trim on my home wrapped with pvc-coated aluminum. A previous contractor had done a shoddy job and had not completed installation. Banning came in and replaced the entire wrap. Within a few days of completing the job, strong winds pulled some of the wrap off. Banning responded quickly, temporarily securing the loosened wrap until it could be repaired. When they repaired it, they wound up putting the seam of the bottom piece over the seam of the top piece of the trim, making that section more susceptible to water leaks and damage. They were willing to replace it yet again but could no longer find trim the right color for the job, so now I have one side of my trim installed correctly, and one side of my trim installed incorrectly. They were willing to repair it but with a different color trim. I live in a HOA community and different color trim would not be approved.

Description of Work: Rich, the owner, came out to give an estimate and again for me to select colors and inspect the attic. His pricing was far more competitive and reasonable than other roofers - $2000 less than an estimate from another company. He also came out at the beginning of the work and again afterwards. The crew was very polite and thorough - they worked non-stop (exactly 30 minutes for lunch!) until dark to get the job done. RM Banning is a certified CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster (one of a small population of certified roofers) and thus he's able to provide a longer and more comprehensive warranty on the work and materials. I found RM Banning through a co-worker and I couldn't be more pleased with everything from the time he came out to give me an estimate to when the work was finished. Mr. Banning came by after the work was completed to see if I had any issues, questions, or concerns. This was a nice surprise as contractors don't usually follow up in person. I've already recommended RM Banning to friends and co-workers. Note - RM Banning also provides other services such as siding, windows, etc.

Description of Work: They replaced the roof shingles on my house. The work involved removing the existing shingles, replacing several sheets of deteriorated plywood roof sheeting, and installing new drip caps, underlayment, shingles, and vent caps. They also replaced the chimney flashing and vent pipe collars. I contacted a couple of other roofing contractors as well as RM Banning but found Banning to be the most responsive and offering the best price. Rich (the owner) did exactly what was promised when I contacted them. He showed up at my house exactly when he said he would be there, he provided the estimate to me within several days as promised, the estimate was clear and appropriately detailed (including a plan drawing of the roof with quantities), and his price was reasonable. Rich also provided literature on the product that he proposed to install and provided documentation of his contractor's license and other professional certification along with a list of references for other jobs he's performed in the area. When the time came to schedule the actual work, they worked with me to establish a workable date. We had to postpone the work briefly because of weather considerations which turned out to be the right decision. Rich insisted that the forecast call for clear weather for two days in the event that something unforeseen, like having to replace more plywood sheeting than expected, would require a second day to finish the work. As it turned out, only one day was needed. The crew showed up on time. Rich's crew foreman, Oscar, was easy to work with and answered any questions or concerns I had. The work was done efficiently and professionally. And the crew did a very good job cleaning up around the house afterwards. Also, the office staff was very pleasant to work with, provided excellent coordination throughout, and quickly sent me confirmation documentation for my down payment and final payment. All told I'm very pleased with my experience with RM Banning. They operate in a very professional manner and Rich does exactly what he says he will. I would happily hire them again.

Description of Work: Remove damaged carport roof and install new asphalt shingles. Repair small portion of shingles on the main roof around chimney and dormers.

Description of Work: Repair of long-term leaking area of roof. Only negative were scheduling issues: assessment took a week; after dropping off contract, I had to call office when nobody called me - but after I called tech was ready to do the work next day. Otherwise excellent: professional inspection; offered several options; on-spot estimate; offered to drop off shingle samples and did within a couple of days. Installation, involving replacement of plywood plus new shingles over larger area than originally anticipated happened quickly with perfect cleanup. Overall - completely satisfied.

Description of Work: Bannings is our first call when we have a problem with our roof. Gaskets around pipes in the roof had rotted and the Banning representative identified the problem and fixed it in a timely manner. He was professional and thorough.

Description of Work: Left a message on June 13 asking if someone could come out to give us an estimate on replacing our gutters. After a week with no response, I called and left another message. Still haven't heard back. I guess they don't want the work.
