A for design, C+ for installation (started strong and got worse through the project, D for communication and unsupervised workers during installation. We found the design phase to be excellent. We worked with Evenlyn Nicely and she really listened to us and worked to stay within our budget. It took several visits to their design office but we finally got it worked out. A few weeks later we had our living room filled with new cabinets and we started removing the old cabinets and appliances. Their crew arrived on time on the day they were scheduled to start. We had found during the demolition that an exterior wall was not insulated. We removed all the drywall from that wall and asked Nicely Done to add the work of insulating the wall and re-drywalling it. They did a fine job, and came in and painted the entire room.Their plan was to put on a primer coat and top coat (2x) on all the walls before setting any cabinets. That way they reduce any paint issues later once the cabinets are installed. It leaves only touch-up work to be done later which is less likely to create a spill or spatter onto the finished work. They also laid in the subfloor luan over the old vinyl floor covering. [Prior to demolition, the flooring was found to contain asbestos in the backing. EPA and other site recommended to leave the flooring in place and seal it in.] The subfloor was covered with a rosin paper to protect it. Nicely Done did the plumbing, rough in electrical, and the drywall/painting while we were away on a family emergency. Then came the day to start installing the cabinets. When the crew arrived we pointed out that the ducting for the exterior vent had not been installed and we were curious about it as this is a code issue in our county as we have a gas stove. We expected it to be set into the floor joists of the 2nd floor so that it would not have to take up any shelf space in the cabinets. The foreman looked puzzled about this but told us he would take care of it - odd, since at our meeting just prior to demolition (Evelyn Nicely, the project mgr., the foreman, and us), the installation of the combination microwave/exterior exhaust was fully discussed, and we had the unit in the living room. When we left for work they were cutting the ceiling to see about sitting the ductwork. When we got home we found some cabinets were installed but they had not lifted the rosin paper first. They had installed over the rosin paper. The installation of the exhaust duct work (inside the cabinets) and the vent cover outside were subpar. Nicely Done had to redo it 3 times - the 3rd time on the final inspection walk-through with Evelyn Nicely, and we're still not satisfied - we wanted them out of the house by that point. Work moved along, then the project manager wanted to move up the date of the floor installation only to discover that the floor tile was delayed and would need to be in house 2-3 days to acclimate. As we purchased our floor product (a tile laminate) from Nicely Done, it was surprising that the project manager 1) wouldn't schedule the installation until the product was shipped and 2) wouldn't know their product line well enough to know it needed time in house prior to installation. Instead of working on other items such as finish installing the microwave/exhaust sytem, complete the installation of the cabinet doors, etc, the crew took a week off. As we had been promised time and again that the crews only worked on one project at a time, this was surprising, especially when the foreman came by to pick up tools. When the countertop installer came to create his template, only then did we find out that the faucet we chose - again, purchased through Nicely Done - would not work for our sink cabinet/sink. We went back to our first choice faucet (having been told it wasn't available by Nicely Done) that Nicely Done was able to supply when we found it for them on the Kohler website. The project manager was there during this exchange but offered no advice or guidance. When the counter was installed we had been assured that Jenny, our project manager, would be onsite to oversee the installation. When we stopped by to see how things were going, only the installers - no supervisor of any kind - was around. At this point, we rarely saw or heard from the foreman who was supposed to be on site most of the time per Evelyn Nicely. The counter installation and the floor installation went smoothly, as did the backsplash installation. However, we used 3M painter's tape to mark the wall where we wanted the backsplash to end. 2 days after installation, we pulled off the tape in one spot only to have a sheet of wall color come with it. Instead of apologizing and fixing it immediately, we had to demand that the area be repainted. It had to be redone a 3rd time, as the second time was slapped on - you could see the brush lines clearly. The farther we got into the installation, the more problems with Nicely Done came about. Mistakes such as appliances not leveled, pulls and handles not centered, additional holes puttied up were found by us. We fully understand that mistakes occur - all we ask is that responsibility be taken upfront and the matter resolved. In showing the offset handle (3rd in a 4 drawer cabinet) to the project manager, she just looked at it. I said, "You'll order a new front piece and reinstall, right?" The response, "Yeah, well, I guess so." The problems found were corrected to our satisfaction except for the microwave/exhaust system. The project manager ordered the County's inspection two times - we failed the first time as they hadn't installed the anti-tip device for the stove - the device was sitting on top of the stove. The 2nd time- next day - we met the inspector at the door and let him know the ant-tip device still wasn't installed. He left without even coming in. The 3rd time, we called the inspector (who was en route) to say don't bother, the microwave/exhaust system still had not been installed, nor had the anti-tip device. That night at 6pm, with Evelyn Nicely, present, the foreman and myself, who was on the stepladder making sure the connections were correct, installed the microwave/exhaust system. This had to be done 3 times as well as the foreman refused to use the instructions and template provided by the manufacturer the first 2 times. We received the pass from the inspector the next day. We had a meeting with Evelyn Nicely, the owner and our designer, that night going over our grievances, but the only response back was "but isn't your kitchen beautiful?" and "we finished on time, right?" The fact that the exhaust system was not only a County code issue but the reason for the project never bothered her. It bothered us mightily. Yes, we have a lovely kitchen - the woodwork, molding, etc are very nice and now level. We still are not happy with the exhaust system installed by Nicely Done - it leaks. No, we won't have them back in the house. In hindsight, we wished we had purchased the design from Nicely Done Kitchens and had another contractor do the installation. We went with Nicely Done as we have design issues in our layout and wanted more than someone saying "if that's what you want, ok" but someone to tell us if one design would function better over another idea. The company had good references, including Angie's List. What bothers us the most to this day is that from day one, we made it clear that the point of taking on this project at this time was because we wanted to update our stove, and the County code required that exterior venting be in place. We didn't have this, and to install it meant tearing out cabinets anyway, so why not - our cabinets were outdated and not in good shape. This was discussed many times during the design phase, and as aforementioned, discussed at the walk-through prior to demolition. It was treated as an afterthought, as if we sprung this on the foreman on the last day.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of kitchen. We did the demo.

As readers have the opportunity to go through our entire profile and many excellent reviews, they will hopefully see that the circumstances surrounding this project were both uncommon and unusual. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work and responsibility for it meeting / exceeding client expectations. Regretably, we must agree with the Snyder's in the fact that the quality of workmanship and management of their project was not up to our usual high standards. We have taken strong initiatives to remedy this and ensure that every member of our installation and management team surpasses expectations. Further, we have taken action to make certain the construction phase of EVERY remodeling project is as great of an experience as the design phase. As discussed during the remodeling project, a client's happiness and satisfaction are paramount to us; our goal is to give you a beautiful, long-term investment on a short-term timeline. Although we are glad to have technically met that goal, everything falls miles short if the client is not satisfied. Reviews and feedback are taken extremely seriously, and we hope to not have another review of this nature.

We are in the beginning steps with Nicely Done Kitchens & Baths for our remodeling. We had our first appointment at their offices and the designer talked generally about the amount of money and we had not discussed the material so she said that the amount quoted did not include the material that we wanted so she said she said she would send me a new quote by email. I would be able to give more insights and points about this company once we have finished the project. They were prompt and got back to me really fast, they sent a designer to me right away and the process seem to be the ordinary steps to dealing with any contractor. So far we are happy with the company. I am waiting for her to get back to me to decide if we will use them. If she integrates what we want, then we will definitely use them.
Description of Work: We are in discussions with Nicely Done Kitchens & Baths for our kitchen remodelling.
The Nicely Done Kitchens staff, in particular our designer Tom Joyce, was very accommodating in meeting with us at our convenience, listening to our needs, and trying to keep costs within our budget. The work started on time and they stayed very much on schedule throughout the entire process. We were extremely pleased with our installer Dago and his team, who were very detail-oriented and easy to work with. The NDK staff stopped by periodically to check on things and always followed through if there was any problem. While we lucked out with our installer, you might want to check out beforehand which installer NDK plans to use on your job and check out their work. In the end, we were very satisfied with the finished product and would recommend NDK.
Description of Work: We had a total kitchen renovation, including walls being knocked out, new cabinets and countertops installed, wood flooring added and refinished.

Thank you for the nice review! Just a quick comment on you "lucking out" with your installer. All of our contractors---either in-house or sub-contracted---are carefully screened for elite workmanship. Most have been with us for a long time, and we are just beginning our 10th year. As readers will see on our reviews, from your initial visit to our Showroom, to your Designer, your Project Management team assigned to you, and all of our Contractors-----installation, master plumbers, master electricians, etc. are 1st rate and no one needs to get "lucky"---they are all great! We sincerely appreciate and value your business and feedback / comments always.
We have a beautiful and functional new kitchen and powder room thanks to Nicely Done Kitchens . We interviewed several companies, but chose NDK because of the excellent designs provided by Stephanie. She really listened to what we wanted and provided us with excellent product choices and service throughout the entire process. We met with the sub contractors prior to beginning the project. They began on the expected contract date and the rooms were completed by the expected contract ending date. All the staff at NDK kept us informed as the project progressed and stopped by from time to time to see the progress . We were extremely pleased and greatly appreciated the expertise and quality of workmanship provided by Juan Pablo and his crew. Our electrician Dave and plumber Don were great and provided us with suggestions that added to our kitchen. Our whole experience was A+.

Our old kitchen was a small, dark, poorly lit space. We began the remodeling process by researching contractors on Angie's List. After reading lots of reviews, pages and pages for numerous contractors, we went to talk to a few. Nicely Done Kitchens really listened to us. They have a process they follow, but they were willing to work with our own review process. After coming to our home to meet with us, take measurements, and discuss our wants and needs, we scheduled another meeting at their office. Our designer, Stephanie, gave us several designs to review and it was clear she had paid attention to how we wanted the kitchen to work for us. Normally at this point we would begin the contract process but we had a meeting with another contractor scheduled. No contest. After viewing an uninspiring design that was basically an update of our existing kitchen, we could not get back to Stephanie fast enough. We met again with the entire team that would work on our kitchen. Everyone was extremely nice and worked very hard from demolition to the final touch ups. The lead carpenter Yerko was very meticulous and kept us informed throughout the five week process. The electrician was here until late one evening to resolve a problem that stemmed from the original house wiring. We were able to select our granite from one of several suppliers and meet with the fabricator to choose the areas of the slab we wanted for our counters. In all, we had a lot of freedom to choose finishes and suppliers with expert guidance from our designer. Because we were installing hardwood floors in the kitchen, we decided to have them go ahead and install flooring on the entire first floor. What was formerly a small, dark, depressing kitchen is now bright and open. We have so much more storage and work space thanks to a good design and drawers instead of lower cabinets. The floors are beautiful, as well. Thank you Nicely Done Kitchens for a beautiful and functional kitchen that exceeds our expectations.
Description of Work: From dark and dreary to bright and beautiful.
We have used this company in the past and we are always satisfied with their work and responsiveness. When the expected glitches happen, they are right there to fix the problem. Our finished product is gorgeous.
Description of Work: Remodel of bathrooms (2) with major changes in layout of one bathroom--ceramic tile shower walls, ceramic tile floors, new sinks and countertop/new cabinets and new storage in one bathroom.
NDK designers were friendly, knowledgable, professional, but never pushy. The estimate was for the entire project, but provided very good detail. The final cost was within a couple hundred dollars of the estimate and increased based on selections I made. I was aware the I was going over the estimate and could have changed my mind. The project manager was a great help and kept me informs of the job status and was always available to answer questions - promptly. The designer stayed in close contact and was also available when I wanted to discuss something. Both visited the job site regularly to check on the progress. The contractor assigned to my job was very good, friendly, and willing to explain what was going on and answer questions. I had no concern about the installation of a lockbox so the workers could come and go in I was not home. The subcontractors were very good and everyone was very careful and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each work day. The job was completed within the time estimate I was given.
Description of Work: Nicely Done Kitchens (NDK) provided a design, product selection assistance, project management; and demolition, construction, and installation of cabinets, appliances, lights, floor, and painting. The project included renovation of my kitchen, powder room, and new flooring in my foyer and family room.

Nicely done kitchen and bath. They helped us design a beautiful master bath. Tom, of Nicely Done, was here the first day the remodel took place and on top of all as the work continued. Their expertise guided us in creating a bathroom our neighbors have described as "one you would find at the Ritz". Its amazing how being in a certain room can lift your spirits and our bathroom does just that. I would highly recommend Nicely Done and would use them again.

Response from Nicely Done Kitchens & Baths
Our designer had a very pleasant meeting with the customer, who wanted the wall removed between the kitchen and dining room. along with a full kitchen remodel. She was told at the meeting that it was probably a load-bearning wall, and we told her we would also look at options of visually opening up the dining room area more. At the end of the meeting, we were given their budget. We prepared a design that opened up the doorway between the dining room and kitchen to provide more visual connection, without the expense of removing a wall-----which would have far exceeded the budget. This was presented at the 2nd meeting, a design review in our showroom (we don't charge for the intial appointment, initial design, or 2nd app't in our showroom). However, a complete kitchen remodel for a kitchen that size, along with the removal of a load-bearing wall, was not possible while working with the stated budget. We gave it our best effort to reach the desired effect within budgetary constraints provided.

The kitchen was nicely done. They did a nice job. They were friendly and knowledgeable. I will use them again in the future if I need to.
Description of Work: I used Nicely Done Kitchens & Baths for kitchen remodeling.
We chose NDK because their creative and professional architectural designs for the complete re-model of our kitchen were far superior to any competitor. They provided us three designs from which we mixed and matched, and we are very pleased with the lay-out of our kitchen as we had envisioned it. We are overall very pleased with the quality of the work performed and with the quality of the materials (cabinets, tile, wood trim, etc.) that they used. Although their price quote was above that of competitors, we felt that the quality of the design and the amount of work they agreed to do in the contract made it worth it. We were less pleased with the project management aspect of their work. The company estimated that the project would be done in 4-5 weeks, but it took more than double that time with several days passing in between when no workers came, with no explanation or forewarning - especially at the end when only little things remained. We were often confused about who our point of contact should be - the company did not appear to communicate as well as it could have with the contractor on site for an accurate account of when aspects of the project would be completed. We also felt that the company unfairly asked for the final payment before a major element in our contract adjacent to the kitchen (which they ultimately determined could not be completed as they originally wrote it in the contract) was finished. Ultimately, the company did a fantastic job with the design and we are very happy with the finished product. However, we feel that the construction process was unnecessarily long and living through that process with little accurate sense of the progress or timeline was very difficult.
Description of Work: Nicely Done Kitchens provided architectural designs for a complete re-model of our kitchen. They re-did the floor (tile), knocked down several walls (including a brick one), countertops, cabinets, and had sub-contractors re-do our plumbing and electrical work with new lighting.
For the estimate, the company worked with us to plan the results we wanted for both bathroom upgrades; the planners respected our desires but also showed us a range of possibilities for achieving those results. The Nicely Done showroom includes numerous samples of materials as well as plentiful catalogs for selecting fixtures, etc., which made the planning both fruitful and enjoyable. The company ordered the materials and obtained necessary permits, kept us informed, and worked with us to schedule the work to fit our availability. We were asked to make available a small area in our home for temporarily storing cabinets, fixtures, etc. From demolition of the existing bathrooms through work completion the workers were respectful of our home, took precautions to prevent damage to our carpets and walls, and were careful to keep our home secure as they came and went; they also respected the townhouse parking restrictions and interfered with the housing area as little as possible. The work was done professionally and generally within the window planned for the work. The Nicely Done planner and scheduler maintained contact with us and visited frequently to observe the work and to make any adjustments to the plan that were needed. We were impressed with the quality of materials used and the quality of the work. We were content with the entire renovation process and are exceptionally pleased with the results, especially with how attractive both bathrooms now are, as well as with the functional touches that make the most of the available space.
Description of Work: The company worked with us to plan the upgrading of one complete bathroom and all but the shower of a second bathroom. The company then performed demolition on both bathrooms; replaced toilets, floor covering, cabinets, sinks, light fixtures, exhaust fans, towel bars, and other bathroom fixtures with significantly upgraded merchandize for both bathrooms; refinished the walls; and painted. The complete bathroom upgrade also included replacing the tub with a shower enclosure that includes a seat, tile throughout, grab bars, and new plumbing, as well as with a storage area outside the shower enclosure.

They said it would take 5 weeks and it did. When we had an issue to address they took care of it right away. From the initial home visit, the design work, decisions to make, to the final walk through we were completely satisfied.
Description of Work: Total Kitchen renovation. Updated powder room (paint, floors, sink, toilet); Floor also went into entry way; new cabinets in dining room. They opened a wall from the kitchen to the dining room. They installed lights in family room. Project touched five areas of 1st floor.
Everything went exactly according to plan. We started and ended the project on time. (Kitchen was actually ready to use before the end of the project.) We communicated a lot by email with Jenny or Evelyn which was very effective. Had a lockbox on the front door and never worried about people coming in and out. The contractors (Steve, James and Charlie) were great, always cleaned up before leaving every day. No matter what we requested/reported, they took care of it to our complete satisfaction. We had them do some additional work for us after the project was done. Contract actually came in a little under budget because the quartz countertops were less than the original estimate. We are completely happy with our kitchen and would highly recommend Nicley Done Kitchens & Baths.
Description of Work: The price listed for the project includes all of our costs including the appliances. Remodeled/gutted the kitchen - top to bottom. Replaced floors (with hardwood), counters (with quartz), cabinets (with oak), island, appliances (with stainless), light fixtures and moved plumbing (for sink and dishwasher) to the island. We really liked the fact that we could pick out most of what we needed right in the showroom instead of having to go to various different places to pick out cabinets, flooring, tile, hardware etc. NDK was the only contractor out of 3 that we consulted that came to our home to do an estimate. Evelyn made a suggestion about a small structure change to remove a door frame which opened up the kitchen a little more. We went with her suggestion and were very happy with our decision. It was an amazing change and it took months for me not to feel like I had walked into someone else's kitchen. Only advice I can give would be if you are replacing appliances, shop carefully before purchase. Appliances must be locked in before cabinets are ordered. The appliance store that was recommended, Appliance Connection in Woodbridge, was NOT at all a good deal. We picked out refrigerator, stove and microwave - GE Profile and a Bosch dishwasher. Showroom prices were about $100 less than MSRP on each for the refrigerator, stove and dishwasher and $20 less on the microwave. Total showroom price was $6750. After we picked everything out, the salesman, Nick Coons, said he would put together a "package" and submit it to NDK. Our "package" saved us a total of $82 dollars more than the showroom price which was very disappointing. They also had an additional charge for delivery. We went to Sears and ordered the exact same make/model of appliances for over $600 less (and no delivery charge.) We gave Appliance Connection the opportunity to match the Sears price but they did not budge. We even offered to meet them half way but they still would not compromise. NDK was very accommodating with using our source for appliances. Sears was very accommodating with the delivery date. We were glad we shopped around.

From initial design to final walk-through, the staff were very professional, courteous, hit every scheduled date, always left the place clean, and allowed me to work with them to do some of the work myself.
The quality of the products was very, very good. The quality of the project management was not very good. I would tell people that the design is good. The home owner needs to be vigilant about assuring that follow up work is done at the specification and in a timely manner. They were expensive.

NDK gutted and transformed a 9X11, 1970’s condo kitchen into an attractive contemporary open kitchen. The design entailed taking out parts of two walls and creating a custom countertop. The cost of the project was $34,000 without appliances, $39,000 with appliances. It involved several months for the design and custom cabinets and 2 ½ months for installation and completion. There was a back order on the floor tile that held the project up for three weeks. I agreed to wait for it because I did not want a substitute. Cathy Goss, the project lead, is an excellent designer and communicator. She brings to the job architectural skills, kitchen design experience, as well as creativity, patience and professionalism. It was pleasurable working with her. She helped me with three different design concepts before the final was selected. We worked together at the site and in the design studio. She was very clear and straightforward with the contract specifics. NDK has an architectural software program that facilitates customer and designer working together and a nice showroom to inspire one’s material and cabinet choices. It was important to me that NDK ordered all materials, made sure the materials were delivered to the site, provided overall management of all workers on the project, and worked with everyone involved until the project was completed and in good shape. Several items had to be redone and they followed through until everything was in good shape. I found everyone involved with NDK to be friendly and professional. They were very responsive to my many emails and followed up on all of my requests. The final product is a lovely kitchen.

Their design was what made me not use them. They were very professional and responsive. They were the second in all the bids that I got. I was comfortable with the people and the quality of work.
Description of Work: Nicely Done Kitchen & Baths came out in May of this year and gave me a quote to remodel the kitchen.

Job generally went well but there were a few minor problems. For example, the workers left a lot of miscellaneous materials and debree on my property even after the job was largely finished. I had to complain about this twice before it was resolved. Also, my clothes washer needlessly remained disconnected after the plumber finished his work so I was without use of my washer one weekend. Also, I only found out once the job was ready to start that Nicely Done Kitchens doesn't have their own storage facility and therefore ships the cabinets directly to your home. I have a small house and fitting the cabinets in my home was a problem. Schedule called for the job to be completed in 4 weeks. The job was largely completed on schedule but they didn't order enough ceiling tiles so that delayed completion by 3 weeks - not a big deal since I had use of the kitchen. On the plus side, I'm very happy with the layout/design of my new kitchen. Overall quality of work appears to be good and they were professional and easy to deal with. Despite the minor problems itemized above I would recommend this company.
Description of Work: Remodeled my kitchen.

They are very nice. It is an all stop shop. They have designs. A whole team came to my house for the estimate. They are all very professional and pleasant to deal with. They have a very nice showroom. I am pretty sure i will go with this company when i decide to do the renovation. They have a great portfolio.
Description of Work: They are an excellent company. They provided an estimate of 30,000 for a complete kitchen renovation, included a removal of a wall.

I didn?t use them because they were about twice as much as the company that I ended up using. I got quote from three companies and they were the highest by far. Maybe their quality of work was much higher or maybe they use nicer materials, but I was perfectly happy with the company I used. We went into their show room and then they sent someone out pretty promptly.
Description of Work: Nicely Done Kitchens & Baths gave me an estimate to put in new countertops and a sink.
