Nicely Done Kitchens & Baths

I listed price as excellent. Seemed priced a little high but when I saw the quality of the cabinetry and the quality and professionalism of the workers I was more than happy with the price. Stephanie was our designer, Tom project manager and Eddie was the lead for jobsite. Stephanie, Tom and Rich were always responsive to our inquiries. There were no issues Eddie and his crew could not overcome. As the project progressed it was determined that two headers needed to be replaced, lights added, etc which was completed without interrupting the flow of the job. Onsite workers were very flexible and always willing to make minor adjustments as well as recommend something that might work better. We are grateful for the professionalism of Nicely Done Kitchens staff as well as the professionalism and expertise of the workers on the jobsite (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, dry wall, painting, flooring crew, duct and tile work). House now has a great deal of openness and functionality.

In July 2014 NKDB did a complete renovation of the kitchen in my townhouse. My designer was Jackie, with whom I established rapport very quickly. She knew exactly what I wanted and helped me achieve my vision. Steve was the project manager, supervising the various phases of the work. I signed the contract on May 1 and the work was done on schedule during July. There were a few "issues" along the way. The worst was the number of defective cabinet doors and drawer fronts that had to be reordered due to defects. I question the quality control of Holiday Kitchens, which NDKB uses exclusively for cabinets. The chimney hood had to be cut down to fit the low ceiling, which meant a two week delay. Also, a panel didn't get ordered at the same time, so that was an additional wait. The workmanship of all NDKB staff is excellent -- the electrician, drywall crew, countertop and cabinet installers, etc. Better communication would have eliminated a couple of misunderstandings about start times on any given day. Six months after the work was completed, I contacted Steve about caulking the area where the countertop meets the back-splash and a problem with a loose electrical outlet. He responded quickly and fixed these at no cost. Despite some hiccups, I am very pleased. My kitchen is both beautiful and functional.

Easy to work with. Responsive. Work done during period of winter weather so got off track by a couple of weeks; lost work days due to closed roads. Had to redo flooring - additional finishing work was not up to the standard we had hoped for. Believe if did not have to redo flooring due to cracking, overall assessment may have been better. Contractors were good to work with and project supervisor was great. Clean and professional. Comment to not use again is based on work that had to be redone, and the finishing after that took place.

Disappointing. The estimating process can be characterized as a good rapport and unfulfilled assurances. Specifically, on two occasions the Representative assured me that they would provide a written estimate "later that same day or early the next morning." Four days after the first missed date, the Representative initially suggested that she thought she had provided the estimate and then proceeded to once again assure me that they would provide the estimate later that same day or early the next morning. I ask the Representative to provide me a courtesy alert if additional time was required. At 7:30 the next evening, I had received no estimate or alert.

They remodeled the kitchen and it is beautiful. There was a lack of communication between the contractors, project managers and the clients. The company is customer oriented. They said that they fixed the communication problem but I called them to ask a question and it seemed it was not fixed. The contractor would call and says he is coming seven in the morning and would never show for the day.

I highly recommend Stephanie for her professional knowledge, quick response, and overall customer service. Our remodel planning started before we moved to the area and Stephanie walked us through the entire design process through emails and phone calls. She was very accommodating considering the 6-hour time difference. She offered several computerized graphics with innovative ideas such as a corner charging station, and tweaked the design to our specifications. With cabinets ordered and a project schedule in place, we were able to begin demolition as soon as we arrived in Virginia. We achieved our goal of a kitchen with a new island and additional space in the adjacent family room. The result is a light filled kitchen with clean lines, beautiful cabinets and countertops, and all new stainless steel appliances. The Nicely Done Kitchen staff is a great team.

The price for the bathroom work was about $15,000. They were very professional and very customer oriented. The provided us with multiple designs that we could choose from. Once we selected the design they basically were very responsive to any kind of issues that arose. The contractors were in and out quickly and they were very clean. What mostly stood out was the quality of their work and their responsiveness.

It turned out wonderfully. They were right there ready to do the service. They are a topnotch organization and they are the best that we have ever had for anything like that done. They stand by everything that they do and they are really great. What happened was that the refrigerator was freezing and we called the repair people out and they said that it was not leveled so they leveled it out and everything was fine and then the cabinet doors that were on the top of it could not open all the way. So, I called them and they came out and said, "Oh yes, that is fine. We will order new cabinet doors." There was never a question about anything and there was no charge for the service. They are wonderful. I have never had any group of people come in to do work that is better than them and the workman that they have and his crew are topnotch too. They just have really good people working with them and they respond very quickly. I would definitely use them for services again in the future.

We love our new kitchen by Nicely Done. From our first meeting with Nancy until the end of the project they were always friendly and professional. Nancy,Tom, Rich, Juan Pablo and all of the others are very pleasant people which makes dealing with a kitchen remodel a whole lot less stressful. They have been doing this for a long time and it shows. They know their stuff. When we first went in to the showroom we didn't really know what we wanted. Nancy drew up numerous sets of plans for us to look at. She did a great job of maximizing the space in out small kitchen. The plan we ultimately chose was great and was something we would totally not have thought of ourselves. During the project the staff was always available to answer questions and deal with any issues that inevitably come up during any project. I never dreaded calling them with a question or concern because they always were pleasant and eager to help us. In addition, the craftsmanship of the workers was top notch. In the end, we could not be happier with how the kitchen turned out. I would highly recommend Nicely Done Kitchens.

Architect/designer Stephanie Brick met with us twice -- once in our home, where she took measurements of our kitchen and listened patiently for more than two hours to our desires and answered our many questions. She developed designs based on our preferences and shared those with us during a second meeting at the NDK showroom. Again, she was generous with her time, showed us samples of cabinets, back-splashes and countertops and answered numerous questions. Throughout our meetings she was professional and demonstrated high-quality work. We are confident we would have had a very satisfactory experience with NDK. Alas, we have only one kitchen to remodel.

Short story: Nicely Done Kitchens did my full kitchen remodel and helped our home to sell after only one day on the market! The kitchen is gorgeous and functional and they did good work on the fine details. Overall, I think I paid too much, but then again, I couldn't find anyone who could do what I wanted for less. I searched for a contractor for close to a year, trying to find someone who would help me design a contemporary kitchen. I could not find anybody in my price range who could do anything but present me with a cookie-cutter design. To the credit of NDK, they stuck with me and worked very hard on the design, and ended up doing a lot of things they had never done before. They took the time to explain just about everything to me, and I can be annoying that way! I had to watch the work carefully and stop them from jumping on the quick fix a few times, but I ended up with exactly what I wanted. Of course, the project took longer than expected, but for the most part, there were people working every day and there was progress. There were a few minor disputes about changes along the way and NDK was 100% honest and took care of any/all problems that came up. They have been back to help with things that have come up since the work was completed 6 months ago. There really does seem to be a culture of honesty and integrity at NDK, which you don't always find in this business. I liked working with them.

They were very professional and punctual. They did what they promised to do and everything went fine.

This was a wonderful experience from the initial consultation where my designer, Jackie Lluy, and I really connected. She was quickly able to assess what I liked and proceeded to offer several different designs to incorporate what I wanted and liked into the plans - not to just replace what I currently had. She worked with me to choose countertops, the flooring tile and special cabinets to fit my lifestyle. When the cabinets and flooring were installed, she helped choose the paint. Everything came together beautifully and the end product is a work of art. The installer, Steve Endress, did a wonderful job as well as his crew worked efficiently and neatly on the job site. Although I did pick out high-end cabinets and countertops, the end result is something that will add value to my home. Already I have received numerous compliments from visitors. Everything is coordinated so beautifully and it feels like I have a completely new home! I highly recommend Nicely Done Kitchens to anyone who is looking for a complete redesign of their kitchen or bath.

Overall, we were very pleased with the design, the service provided and the results of the remodel. The kitchen was totally gutted and redone. The layout of the appliances was redesigned to a much better usage and flow. In the powder room, the old tile floor was taken out and replaced, the vanity and vanity top were replaced and the walls were painted. We enjoyed working with our designer, Cathy Goss. She helped us with the selection of materials and pointed us to places to go to view the stone for the countertops. She came up with a very workable design that we adjusted together to fully meet our needs. The demolition and construction progress at a fairly steady pace, although we lost some workdays to severe weather (snow storms). The Project Managers and Lead Carpenter did a good job of managing the work, keeping track of what was going on, keeping us informed of what activity was pending and generally remaining on schedule. The tile work was beautifully done (floors,\and feature panel behind the stove). The granite countertops also turned out beautifully. The installation of the cabinets went fairly smoothly, although we had one surprise with a pipe that was angled such that it interfered with the placement of the cabinet. They very timely replaced that section of pipe so the cabinet could work properly and they stayed on schedule. Any issues that came up during the project were communicated to the project manager and resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. One of the things that attracted us to this firm was their focus on customer service and responsiveness to customers, and they lived up to that ideal. We are very pleased with the way both rooms turned out.

I talked with them in August. The work began, the kitchen demolish on November 4, and today I'm going to give them their check. It was a long time. It's not that they weren't prompt, they were fine. There were cabinet issues that cabinet colors didn't match and they were good about re-ordering and everything takes time so my recommendation for anyone who uses any remodeler, don't expect it to be done fast. I was told it would be done by Thanksgiving. I love my kitchen. It just took time, and it was partly their schedule and partly my schedule. They were good and responsive. They held the price that I said I would not exceed. The designer was good and the supervisor was better than good. I would recommend them.

Very well. Very professional and accommodating. Their craftsman, Steve, was world class in talent and customer service. Worth the money for sure.

Very professional. Upfront about costs and remained in budget. All contractors were prompt efficient and completed work as scheduled. Leo who did the majority of the work was an artist in making the tile look truly beautiful. He checked with us any time there was a question or concern before proceeding. Nancy the designer was there throughout the project from initial measurements to assisting in the selection of fixtures, tiles and paint. She returned phone calls and emails even after business hours. She assisted in a follow up issue that was remedied within a day. The bathrooms look just beautiful.

Exceeded our expectations. Jackie L, our designer, did a superb job in getting to know our budget and our taste in design. Jackie did a fantastic job in helping us select the "right" granite. She also found the perfect backsplash and accent border tile. The project manager explained everything in detail from start to finish. The foreman on the job and his crew did excellent work throughout the project. We were impressed with the quality of workmanship and attention to detail. Everyone who has seen our kitchen marvel at the finished project. Timeless, classic, beautiful, wonderful and unique are just some of the compliments that we have received. We plan to use Nicely Done Kitchens again this Spring to renovate our pantry area to build a butler/dry bar area. The only thing we would change is that we would have gone with 4 drawers instead of 3 next to the oven range. Nicely Done is not the cheapest nor the most expensive. Of the three contractors bidding on our job, we chose Nicely Done Kitchens primarily because their designer, Jackie Lluy, listened to and perceived better our wants and needs for our kitchen. The impressive presentation she made following her visit to our home converted our concepts and ideas into spot-on computerized graphics that we then used to consider numerous changes, mostly design features introduced by Jackie, before we settled on the initial project plans. The contractor chosen by NDK to perform our project, Dago Farinas, of C&D Contractors, was a consummate professional, a detail-oriented perfectionist and a flexible partner in scheduling his work in our home. He and his crew were friendly and trustworthy and their work was always top notch. Our project included extensive construction, including exterior wall and window replacement, removing load-bearing walls, remodeling from floors to ceilings, turning a chopped up old colonial home into a modern open space first floor of the highest quality. From big things like the island and countertops, to smaller things like lighting and plumbing fixtures, the finished project reflects perfectly the fine-tuned concepts from Jackie?s plans. Dago carried forward with excellent construction work, as evidenced by the superb finished product. We recommend Nicely Done Kitchens without reservation. They gave us the kitchen of our dreams.

This project went extremely well! From the initial phone call to the final walk-through, the people at Nicely Done Kitchens were responsive, attentive and professional. They kept to the agreed upon timeline and had excellent communication. My kitchen, laundry room and butler's pantry were completely gutted and remodeled. We worked with Cathy Goss as our designer and I cannot recommend her highly enough! She was wonderful! And Evelyn Nicely, the owner of the company was also personally involved in the project. The contractor, Hank Pittman of Additions and More, was delightful to work with. The butler's pantry is now our mud room with cubbies for the kids and a food pantry. The laundry room has more storage space and the kitchen is a showplace! When we are ready to do our bathroom remodeling, I will not go to anyone else but Nicely Done Kitchens.

After carefully evaluating a handful of well regarded area contractors, we selected NIcely Done Kitchens & Baths for our project. And we are happy that we did because, above all, we desired a well designed kitchen, not simply one that would be well constructed, that would fit comfortably within our budget. The work started on time in early August, all work being completed within the projected 6-week timeframe, except for a delay with the window installation that was solely caused by a supplier who failed to furnish the insulated glass pane as scheduled. The custom design created for us by Jackie, NDK's designer, was meticulously drawn and thorough down to the last detail. It was outstanding, not only being up to the highest professional standard but also perfectly matched with our own personal preferences, tastes, and lifestyle. Jackie was personally--and genuinely--committed to seeing that the best possible job was done for us and ultimately played an important role in ensuring that we would be happy with the completed work. She involved herself in all aspects of the design, consulting and advising on critical features such as cabinet style, granite selection, tile type, backsplash design, and lighting; in addition, when necessary she helped advise the construction crew on how work was to be done so as to conform with her design details. While Jackie had the design oversight role, Steve supervised the actual work of demolition, construction, and installation. Like Jackie, Steve too played a key role. He stayed personally involved and made certain that all work was done to our complete satisfaction as well as in compliance with applicable code requirements, even going beyond requirements stipulated in the project contract in several instances to assure that we would be happy. All in all, NDK delivered on the promise and expectation that their name implies. We recommend them without reservation for quality work at a fair price.

After an interesting experience with our master bathroom remodel, I was a little apprehensive about redoing our kitchen. We chose Nicely Done Kitchens because of their good reviews on Angie?s List and Consumer?s Checkbook. We started with some ideas for our kitchen and a budget. Our designer Jackie came up with multiple designs that fit both our ideas and our budget and several details of which that neither my husband nor I would have thought of. We completely gutted and redesigned our existing kitchen into a space my whole family loves and spends more time in. There is work space for me and counter space for the kids to do their homework, complete with docking stations for their electronics and hidden shelving for their books. Steve the contractor and Eddie his assistant always kept us informed with what they were doing and were responsive to the ideas we had, like mounting the computer screen on the wall of my desk and running the computer wires through the wall into the pantry so that my desk is essentially clear. We installed a pocket door to lengthen a wall for more counter space and a built in microwave. Jackie came with me to pick out my granite slab and tiles, an experience I didn?t get with the company that did our master bath. Nicely Done Kitchens began and finished on time, another experience we missed with the bathroom remodel company. An additional thing I appreciated was the fact I was always able to contact someone when we had concerns, calls and emails were always answered, again unlike the experience we had previously. I would highly recommend NDK and would definitely use them again. Thank you NDK for our beautiful kitchen!

Overall we had a very positive experience with Nicely Done Kitchens and our designer Tom. We were very impressed by the design they came up with for our space that allowed the kitchen to be opened up to he dining room while still adding counter space and storage. The design incorporated the elements we wanted without trying to cram too much into a small townhouse space. We appreciated Tom's input in helping us select colors and materials which worked very well with each other. The project finished on budget which was very important to us and we did not feel pushed or upsold on higher cost items. We are very happy with how the final renovations turned out, and would recommend Nicely Done Kitchens to others.

We were very impressed with NDK from the initial meeting with Evelyn, her portfolio was exceptional and she was personable and professional. She gave us a good feeling from the beginning and we felt confident about choosing them to do our project. Cathy did an outstanding job as the designer and when it was completed we were very satisfied with the results. The final design she presented to us was outstanding and she made it easy to adjust every detail on her computer. We were grateful that she was so incredibly patient. She helped us with our most important selections, granite being the most difficult as well as the cabinetry, and it turned out beautifully. We also appreciated her quick responses to our questions and concerns through calls and e-mails. Hank was an experienced contractor and helped us make some critical decisions about the final details of our renovation, including a complicated repair to our existing tile floor. It was a real bonus that he was such a perfectionist and we were wise to trust his professional opinions concerning what would work best. There were a few delays in the process, but that's usually part of any large renovation. We have really been enjoying our lovely new kitchen and are pleased with all of the improvements. It should be noted that we chose our own appliances and purchased them, which were not a part of the total cost.

If you're looking for a group that does remodeling right, this is it. I can personally recommend Stephanie Brick, as she was the one who handled my project. She was extremely attentive to requests - I did not have to repeat myself at all. Her well thought out layouts were clever, practical, and quick - yet she always involved me in the decision making. She's reflective of a process in place at NDK that is well-tuned. Due to personal difficulties with a co-owner, I'm unable to sign the contract I really want to sign for a few months (if ever). I've put all decisions on hold in the meantime. Compared to other design shops we checked out, this one was by far the best - and fairly priced for their level of service. Despite not signing (YET), I feel compelled to give them a top notch review due to the multiple meetings I had with Stephanie and the work she did for my project. I progressed past the initial quick sketch all the way to a final contract.
