Description of Work: They remodeled one bath fully, and partly remodeled a second. The designer did well at first, but then did not follow through as the project got built and some changes were made to the design. The sub-contractors were good on installation. A cabinet their supplier sent did not work. They attempted to turn it back but the supplier refused, and they ended up fixing it themselves. This and some delays extended their data of completion by 5 weeks. They offer to be a "one stop shopping place", where you can get everything you need, but as in the medicine cabinet that was not good, their suppliers are very limited (only had one other medicine cabinet model and it was wrong shade wood). Also, we wanted a border in the shower on the wall, and their selection didn't appeal to us, so we went to a dealer and got Mexican tile. We showed it to the designer, and she liked it. The only problem is that it was 1/2" wide and the subway tile she and we picked was 1/4" wide, so now the border tile sticks out from the shower wall 1/4". Overall, they fell short of an "A" because many things they did were well done, but in a few (key) areas they were mediocre.

Description of Work: I have used them for both kitchen and bathroom remodels. My last project was the remodeling of 2 bathrooms. The are very helpful in translating ideas into concrete plans. The were very responsive during the work and one of the senior staff is assigned. To oversee the project so that you have someone to talk to if you have concerns. As we have used the for a major remodel of the kitchen and 4 bathrooms, we are obviously satisfied customers.

Description of Work: I evaluated 3 kitchen design firms and chose Nicely Done Kitchens to perform a complete remodel of my 1980s kitchen. I didn't want the work to begin until the August 2015 timeframe so the project is still in the planning stage. However I must say that I was tremendously impressed with the design sense of Jackie Lluey the designer assigned to work with me. She is the consummate professional with many years of experience designing beautiful kitchens (I've seen samples of her work). The design she provided was everything I'd hoped for, and then some. I believe the estimate provided by was competitive and represented a good value. I look forward to working with Jackie and the NDK staff to complete my kitchen renovation this summer.

Description of Work: We had a consultation with Nicely Done Kitchens. The lady who came to the house was very pleasant. My only complaint is her estimate came in at $30,000, that was $12,000 HIGHER than our other 3 estimates. Which was not acceptable to us. When I asked her to clarify the costs, I received a broad statement, that it was the labor cost that made the price what it was. I am sure they do very nice work, but we were not interested in using them.

As always, we appreciate the feedback. We provide a brouchure titled "You Get What You Pay For" and we sincerely feel our prices are not only competitive, but our kitchens and baths are a great value. Our hundreds of testimonials, continuous former-client referrals, and overall Angie's List reviews point this out. We cannot comment on this member's other 3 estimates; however, our "estimate" is a firm number that comes with drawings, a detailed budget, full display of materials used, county permits, Master plumber and Electricians, as well as us being a Class "A" contractor.

Description of Work: All I can say is WOW!!! I was thoroughly impressed and daily satisfied with this company. Evelyn was able to come up with a fantastic design that work amazingly and within budget. We removed walls and opened up the space. Closed up a door to the outside and installed a beautiful new sliding glass door. Beautiful cabinets and counters. I highly recommend this team for your next remodel. Nancy and Jenny were amazing project managers and Steve was the general contractor who was attentive and responsive to our needs and questions.

Overall, the job went very well. What made us pick them in the first place was, when they came out to the house they sent two designers who really listened to everything I had to say and immediately began generating ideas that had never occurred to me. They drew up three totally different plans at three different price points and showed them to us all laid out. Other companies wanted us to give them $5000, $7000 just to come up with a plan for us to look at them. We thought what if we didn’t like their plans. There was no guarantee we would like anything that they would do, and they did all that for nothing. They gave us three plans to pick from for nothing. They were all really incredible. We picked the one that we liked best and we went with it. They did the whole thing; they had subcontractors do some of the work though. There were a few things that were not to my expectation, like they always are. Everybody spoke English and showed up on time. There were problems we had that were really major which were not caused by them but by the gas company and a few others. I love my new kitchen. I would consider using them in the future if needed.

Our kitchen was not a hundred thousand dollar kitchen which I am sure they have done. . We were lower on the priority basis as far as people coming around and checking on the work. They could have paid us more attention. The contractor made a couple of mistakes but they fixed it. The contractor they hired they would not hire again as he was messing up stuff. Unfortunately we had the problems. I don’t remember how much we paid . As for responsivenes they were fine as I called them to get somebody else to supervise. I still might use them in the future.

It went very well. It was real quick and nice. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: Nicely Done Kitchens & Baths had done kitchen remodeling. They last came back to fix problems with flooring and lighting. They had put five recessed lights in the kitchen during the remodeling and one of them had a problem which caused all of them not to work. Then the light in the kitchen would not come on. They came back and replaced a faulty dimmer switch.

In February 2010,Evelyn came to our house for an initial visit which was 2 hours long. She took measurements, talked about her products. All in all a very informative and satisfying experience. She gave us a rough estimate of the cost- $35,000. We followed up with a 2 hour visit at her showroom. She showed us her products and the tentative design she had drawn up for our kitchen. The software she used was very impressive and clearly showed how our new kitchen would look. She incorporated most of what we had requested at our initial meeting at our home. Evelyn then set up 3 additional meetings in her showroom to discuss her design in detail and choose cabinets, countertop and flooring and backspash. The software could easily be adapted to make any changes we desired to the original plan. We were able to take home samples of the flooring, countertop and backsplash tiles so we could see how they looked in our kitchen. Evelyn gave very good advice in picking out colors and products. After we made our choices Evelyn drew up a rough copy of the contract (without prices) so that we could read it at home. At the next meeting in the showroom we were given the final copy of the contract with prices and detailed itemization of work to be done. The final contract price was a bit more then the original estimate but this was due to making some changes and forgetting to add in the cost of the appliances. That day we signed the contract (April 19th) and gave Evelyn 50% of the cost of the project. The cabinet order was sent in the next day, which was due to be completed in 6-8 weeks. The work was scheduled to begin on 7/12/10. The workmen did come that day and the work was completed right on schedule on Aug 10th. The work team was very conscientious, neat, prompt, hardworking and pleasant. Any questions or complaints were attended to promptly. The team had a desire to please and to do a good job. We love our new kitchen and everything works just fine.

We were interviewing contractors to build an addition and remodel our kitchen. However, we were going to procure our cabinets ourselves as we have a relative who gets a very good employee discount. Since we were not going to purchase cabinets from them, they refused to give us a quote after wasting two hours of our time with discussions about our plans. We were up front about our intension to buy the cabinets ourselves from the beginning of the meeting.

We always appreciate feedback and inputs / reviews. This was an app't from one year ago that was just now posted. At the prospect's request, we sent out a professional interior designer from our staff to meet with them for 2 hours without any charge on our part (standard procedure). After going through the app't, our Designer notified the prospect that we were not able to accomodate their project. Again, we're not quite sure why we would get a "review" like this a full year after an appointment when we didn't even bid on her project.
We were extremely pleased with NDK. Our designer was Cathy Goss, with oversight from the owner, Evelyn Nicely. Our job was complicated because we were also replacing the flooring on the entire main level and we wanted the hardwood flooring installed before/under the cabinets. So NDK delivered the cabinets and they acclimated in the front of the house (LR) while the back (Kit) was demolished. We went with a different contractor for the hardwood since we were doing the entire main floor. NDK seamlessly worked their schedule with that contractor. The hardwood was installed in the KIT, then NDK moved the cabinets from the LR and installed them, then the flooring guys returned to install the hardwood in the front of the house. We also hired a different company to enlarge/install a window in the Kit, as NDK did not handle that sort of work at that time. We bought our appliances from another vendor. NDK sells GE appliances, but not Monogram, so we had to go elsewhere. We did not believe that they would, but NDK met every milestone in our schedule. We started work on March 5th and were able to move back in by the beginning of May. It took a bit longer to get the permits signed off, as we had a problem with an auxiliary breaker panel which was needed for the new kitchen due to the electric ovens - had gas stove previously. The panel was functional, but the grounding of the buss bar wasn't exactly right, so the inspector failed it. NDK's electrician came back and fixed the problem and then it passed. NDK's tradespeople were excellent. They showed up when they said they would and they worked full days. During the demo and roughing in, they left the space as tidy as possible. I especially liked the care with which they approached their work. When the granite folks brought the counters, they fit very well except for one piece that went maybe 1/8th inch off level when the weight of the granite was put on it. The cabinet guys re-shimmed that peninsula and now the granite is perfect. At first, I didn't like how they had joined the crown moulding in DR space to the crown moulding of the new cabinets. The lead carpenter, Yerko, re-did this by coping a piece of DR crown so it fit closely against the cabinet crown. It is truly beautiful. With every job, there are some problems and our big one happened during demolition. In the powder room we had a large plate glass mirror that we planned to re-use. When the old cabinet was removed, the mirror fell from the wall, sheared off the PVC drain stub for the sink, and broke the toilet. NDK readily replaced the mirror, and bought a new high-efficiency toilet that looked so much nicer in the space, all at no extra charge. If we had a chance to do anything differently, we would have looked at the lighting plan more carefully before signing the contract. We ended up adding more recessed lighting (the older we get, the more light we seem to need) and that cost more than if we had incorporated it at contract signing. We had been thinking about and putting off this renovation for about 5 years because we were dreading it so much. With NDK, it went so smoothly that we were wishing we had done it sooner. We have been in the new kitchen for 9 months and do not have one thing that we wish we had done differently. Kudos to Evelyn and her crew.
Description of Work: We hired Nicely Done Kitchens to do a complete remodel of our kitchen with work in the powder room and laundry room on the same floor. The kitchen was completely gutted, a wall between the DR and Kit removed, pantry closet removed and replaced with more accessible cabinetry, replacement of all existing cabinetry, replacement of laminate counters with granite counters in Kit and powder room, octagonal bump-up of ceiling in main part of kitchen, new recessed and under-counter lighting, new plumbing fixtures. Also, new cabinet and lighting in powder room, repositioning of laundry sink in laundry. Painting of ceilings, walls, and trim in Kit, DR, powder room and laundry.

We have exhaustively looked through our calendars, designer's appointment books, incoming prospect data sheets, and all online communications and requests. There are NO records of this member asking for an appointment. We suspect this is either an honest mistake on the member's part as to which firm didn't show up for his app't, or it could be a particular competitor of ours who is rather notorious in this area for their shady dealings. We value our client responsiveness and service.

The process began with several meetings with Cathy, our designer. She listened to our ideas and then created a stunning design for us. She paid attention to our budget and discussed many options with us. Next we placed an order for the cabinets. Cabinets usually require a four to six week lead time. Ours arrived in six weeks. Actual work on the kitchen began shortly after the cabinets arrived. The staff from Nicely Done Kitchens provided a detailed construction schedule for the project. The work was done as scheduled except for a few finish items during the last week. We were kept informed of changes to the schedule. NDK is very professional and always prompt to respond to our questions/requests. The kitchen is beautiful and we love it. There were a couple of cabinet doors that had manufacturing defects, NDK arranged for replacement doors to be shipped and the installed them promptly upon arrival. NDK will work with the customer to select any brand of appliances but they are a GE Profile dealer. The GE Profile line is a little dated compared to some of the other major appliance brands (latest and greatest features are lacking) but we selected GE Profile appliances for this kitchen and they all work well and look great. The "Single/Double Oven" is an outstanding product.
Description of Work: We hired Nicely Done Kitchen to completely remodel the kitchen in our townhouse. Removal of old cabinets, counter and appliances, removal of soffits and vinyl flooring, installation of new cabinets, ceramic floor, granite counter, tile backsplash, sink and appliances.

The person whom we spoke to was fine, and the company was also good. The price they quoted me was also fine. The quote was within the range of what we thought the job might cost. The project was managed wonderfully by Cathy and Jenny Shin, who coordinated and supervised the entire construction. The project was scheduled to last for two weeks, and they hit every deadline. They stayed in touch with us during the project to keep us involved as the work was done to make sure that everything was being done to our satisfaction. The kitchen was finished on-time and on-budget?in time for my wife?s first baby shower the following weekend. The guests at my wife?s shower were going to be a tough crowd to please, and I am happy to report that everyone was extremely impressed with the kitchen! The transformation was wonderful, and my wife was thrilled with all of the compliments?and all of the shower gifts, too.
Description of Work: My wife and I contacted Nicely Done Kitchens in early February to discuss a remodel of our kitchen. We purchased our home in 2008 despite being disappointed in the overall layout and use of space in our kitchen. The kitchen was in an “L-shape” with a very large area of unused space in the middle. We knew we wanted to build an island in that space, as well as adding some style to the kitchen overall. My wife and are expecting our first child in July, so we wanted this project done quickly and on budget. We found Nicely done Kitchens through Angie’s List and after visiting them to see their gallery, we began working with Cathy Goss, a wonderful designer. Cathy braved the snow storms of this past February to visit my wife and I at our house to discuss the project. Our first meeting consisted of her listening to what we wanted, in light of our preferred budget of $20,000. Our wish list was long—we wanted new stainless steel appliances (refrigerator, range, microwave and dishwasher), we wanted new tile flooring, we wanted an island built, we wanted new granite countertops, with a decorative tile backsplash (with accents), we wanted a new sink, we wanted new cabinets, and we didn’t want to go over budget! Cathy took a deep breath as she listened, and began to work with us. She understood our desires, and helped us to focus on the project in terms of what we wanted most, and the trade-offs we would have to make to get the best result possible. We met with Cathy several times over the next few weeks to discuss our options. We discussed the island—our first priority, and worked from there. We decided to keep our original cabinets since the house was still new and the cabinets were in good condition—and replacing the cabinets would have blown our budget. That was a good decision, in hindsight, because we got everything else we wanted and it looks great. Cathy provided us with detailed sketches, as well as a mock up with tape in our kitchen to show us where everything would go. Cathy also took the lead on ordering all of the materials, like the cabinetry for the island, the granite countertops, the tile flooring, the backsplash, etc. So, my wife and I had very little to do once we entusted the project to Nicely Done Kitchens.

I have been looking at them consistently for a very long time. They are well regarded. I met with one of their consultants and I was very impressed. I am handicapped and would have specific needs. I know that they are members of the right design associations that are aware of aging and place issues, which is very important to me. I haven't been able to decide exactly what I want. They wanted to make an appointment to come and see the place but I had medical issues and couldn't do it at that time. I have a U-shaped kitchen and an eat-in space. I was considering having an island with a small lower sink for wheelchair accessibility and child friendliness. They were very amiable to it. We haven't gotten to the drawing stage. Their costs were a bit nebulous but they seemed more reasonable than some of the other places that I looked at. These people have their own crew of subcontractors that work directly for them. I did a whole lot of research before I began. They were excellent in their punctuality and their professionalism was extraordinary. There are about five designers that include a mother and daughter.

Overall, the project went well. We didn't go over budget at all! They finished less than a week later than scheduled. We thought the service from Carlos, the main carpenter, as well as the flooring people were great. The only issue we had was from the electrician who did not show up twice for appointments. Due to him not doing his part as scheduled, parts of the ceiling had to be patched up after he came. We were also happy with the services provided the plumber. He actually found a problem with the plumbing in the basement from when we got our basement finished two years ago. Additionally, we were very happy with Sara, the designer. She was always on time and had very good suggestions without being pushy. She was very pleasant to work with. We would definitely use Nicely Done Kitchens again.
Description of Work: Nicely Done Kitchens helped design our new kitchen. We replaced the cabinets, all appliances, and countertops and changed the layout. They also installed engineered hard wood floors throughout the first floor and installed recess lighting in the living room and kitchen.
They worked really well with us and had a lot of people that were available to do the work. Sometimes it was a little crowded but never the less, they got the work done and finished it in the time frame alloted, even with the added work we had them do. They have excellent designers at their store as well. I only have the best things to say about them. We want more work done in the future and when we get ready to do it, they're going to be on the top of the list to contact! We're really happy with them!
Description of Work: They gutted our kitchen, except for our refrigerator since it was new, including our soffits. This allowed for more space and we had new cabinets put in, wonderful tile work, granite wash surface and stainless steel sink area. They replaced solid hardwood flooring on the first floor of our house for the living room, dining room and kitchen. They replaced a pedestal sink in a powder room with a granite top. They pulled out all drywall and installed new drywall which we were very happy with. They had it all match up to give it all the same beautiful look.

Everyone at Nicely Done Kitchens is wonderful to work with. Evelyn spent a couple of hours with me at my home looking at my kitchen and discussing what I was looking for (and this was before we had decided to go with her). Her attention to detail was clear when we received her design (even considering the spacing on either side of a window). I could tell that she had really listened and her design is what sold me on going with Nicely Done Kitchens. The process of working out a contract was a bit more ambiguous because they do not give you a very specific itemized list of what you are actually paying for. For example they would list: electrical -- $2000. What does that actually entail? She could tell me orally and if I asked if it included something I could find out, but an actual detailed list was not readily presented. In the middle of the project, I wished I had asked for one, but in the beginning I felt that her total price was about the same as other contractors and based on other customer feedback I felt that they were going to do an excellent job (and they did). The costs of the project did not go above and beyond what we anticipated, though and it may be the ambiguity in the costs that allowed them to deal with all the little details that made our kitchen beautiful (like caulking around the top cabinets near the ceiling, helping with the installation and painting of the molding (which we planned to do ourselves), patching drywall, customizing the face plate for the air duct, etc. One frustrating bit was choosing cabinets. One of the selling points of Nicely Done is that they try to use products manufactured in the US or by US companies. When it came time to pick a cabinet, the only cabinet line that was in my price range (Kabinart) didn't have the color cabinet I wanted. I was really limited in my choices, something I had been afraid of...In the end, though, we had a beautiful kitchen, done on time, on budget and you cannot ask for better customer service! I am very happy with my kitchen and would use Nicely Done Kitchens again to do other parts of our home.
Description of Work: Our entire kitchen was demolished down to the drywall and then new cabinets, countertops, fixtures, appliances, and lighting were installed. Electrical circuits and some plumbing updates were done (nothing major for plumbing; our house was built in 1976).
Nicely Done Kitchens (NDK) was fantastic to work with! Their newly remodeled showroom and office was the perfect setting to plan our new kitchen. Cathy Goss, our designer, quickly determined our desires and planned a "wow" kitchen for us. She was easy to work with and did an excellent job of explaining pros and cons of all our considerations. NDK uses only top rated contractors which ensured that we got the most professional job possible. All work was completed on schedule. The few problems which occurred during construction were quickly solved to our complete satisfaction. We hope to use NDK in the future to remodel our upstairs bathrooms. Obviously, NDK has earned our highest recommendation!
Description of Work: Gutted kitchen and installed new cabinets, granite countertops, stainless sink, stone backsplash, stainless appliances, recessed lighting and new hardwood floors. Also included new hardwood floors in living and dining rooms. Family room had wet bar removed and new cabinets, granite countertop, stone backsplash installed along with new drywall and recessed lighting. Powder room received new cabinet and granite top.

Kitchen designer, Cathy Goss, did a great job of leading us through the whole process. She worked and reworked designs for us until things were exactly as we wanted. She provided lots of guidance along the way and did a great job of figuring out what we wanted, even we weren't sure ourselves. The work crew was very skilled and professional. We were amazed that things actually ran ahead of schedule. Best of all, we love the new kitchen and have been getting lots of compliments on the look and the design.
Description of Work: They gutted our old kitchen, provided a design for a new kitchen and installed cabinets, appliances, backsplash and lighting.
