One of the most frustrating experiences encountered. From the start they did not remove the Windows, but Ripped them out, which caused damage to the interior. This was done in December and removed all 17 windows, so there was no heat at all in the house. Please above description...
Description of Work: Replaced 17 Windows - I'm still trying to recover the time and money lost. Broken walls, broken Shutters and no reimbursement. Quality inspector showed up but worthless and will not return calls. Gil the supervisor did repair the inside damage to the walls, and respackled and that was it. If you like big globs of calk and bent aluminum and having your house and floors tracked during 28 degree weather - give them a call. I had to loan them canvas drop cloths as they had one about 5 ft by 5 ft. Also they left with my drop cloths as well. They were asked to remove shoes - some did some did not including Gil. I will never - ever use Home Depot services for anything. They get your money and try to get in and get out - and then blow you off if you want them to correct their sloppy work. After many calls to Gil, I gave up. We asked in the beginning whether they would do a window at a time and they said of course. However, they showed up and starting ripping all 17 windows out - 28 degrees and snow on the ground. The key word is ripping and not cutting or removing. They did not leave till 11pm and the second half of the installation was done in the DARK. When they removed the second floor windows in front of the house, they threw everything down on the porch roof and then walked on old insulation until they had it "ground" into the new roof and shingles. I did get the $1500 tax credit, but by the time I replaced the shutters and repainted the inside and got the house back together it was loss rather than a gain. The only thing positive was that I did get good quality windows which I paid dealy for.

I cannot say enough good things about the employees at the Alexandria store; Hong, in the bathroom dept. was SOOO helpful!! She saved us by pointing out that the items I wanted to buy for the shower required several additional pieces in order to be able to install them. My contractor would have probably missed a day of work if I hadn't had them right the first time. She didn't act like we were bothering her, or was in a hurry, even though there were other customers milling around, hoping she would dump us and help them. She's really got the customer thing down!! She ended up ordering about $800 worth of bathroom items for us, plus we spent another thousand on the tile, plus the accessories/extras we bought on site. Be careful when you buy the tile; if your job requires bullnosed tile, they are often short on it, which is why we had to go to the HD in Springfield. They had just enough (we fervently hope) to finish the one bathroom. Hong herself gets an A, but, thanks to the other HD, I lowered the rating to a B. I just hung up the phone with and quot;Lydiaand quot; at the Home Depot in Springfield...I found her to be incredibly rude, and curt when I asked her a question about purchasing a $320 toilet. Not only was she impatient, and barely could wait until I finished the question, but then, when she realized that the toilet I wanted wasn't in stock, she just hung up on me before I could even say thank you/goodbye!! It is this kind of rudeness that makes me wish Hechinger's was still around. Often they didn't have experts available for consultation, but they were never rude to their customers, who, after all, are the reason they have jobs!! I ended up buying the toilet online, even though the bone color costs an extra $103...hopefully it will get here in time. I will report on that separately, if it becomes a real issue, but I would think their maximum delivery time of 10 working days, plus the $55 delivery fee, would make delivery timeliness reasonably certain. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!
Description of Work: We are having our bathrooms remodeled by a company who is having us purchase the replacement items. In this case, we dealt with two Home Depots, the one on 236 in Alexandria and the one near Springfield Mall.

We couldn't be more happy with the Home Depot. I went into a store and requested an in-home esitmate, which was scheduled within 3 days of my visit to the store. The representative during the in-home estimate was very professional and did not waste my wife and I's time with additional presentations and up-sells. We started off the conversation explaining what we wanted, and he addressed exactly that. (In the past we've sat through presentations that we supposed to be only an hour, but the sales rep would not leave.) Additionally, we very much appreciated the pricing strategy employed by the Home Depot. There was no games being played (i.e., and quot;if you agree to buy now, then we'll reduce the costand quot;, etc.); the estimate was very straight forward which was very refreshing. After the estimate and deposit, we were told that it could take a couple of weeks to build the windows and scheudle a time for the install. But we were very pleasantly surprised when Home Depot called and said the windows were ready in less than two weeks. Three days after receiving that call that the windows were ready, Home Depot came to install the windows. On the day of the install, the workers arrived at around 7:45 and began to remove the old windows. By 1:00pm, they were completely finished. They were very curtious, removing their shoes every time they entered the house. We did have an instance where the grids inside to side by side windows did not line up. After pointing this out during the course of the install, they removed the window and reinstalled to align the girds. We were very happy with their willingness to redo this. All in all, the entire process was great. We highly recommend the Home Depot tfor windows to anyone looking for new windows.

It seemed pretty good. It went fairly well. They did the windows in a day. They don't have laminated glass. The only thing I would complaint about them was that I had venetian blinds up, and they had to be taken down. It would have been nice if they would help me with that. I haven't compared their price with anyone.

We made an appointment with designer Omaima Souleimon. She explained the options very well and clearly pointed out price and quality differences between different cabinet series. Based on her advice we found it easy to make a choice. She paid attention to important details in her planning, such as to order plywood sides for the cabinet that is not standing against a wall. She also pointed out an upcoming discount that we were able to use. Cabinets were delivered after 4 weeks as promised and we are happy with our choice.

Their home services people were really responsive. They were very punctual and very professional. We had a problem with one of the side windows. They were set in and the project manager had to come back on a Saturday and set things right. It was not an easy feat and I appreciated that. They took their time to figure it out and do the job. They did what they said they were going to do and I remember that it was a pain-free experience.

I stopped in Home Depot and requested that a sales rep stop come by to give me an estimate to replace old single pane wooden windows. Appointment was made and the sales rep came out and gave me the standard pitch. The whole process (about 3 weeks) went smoothly from ordering the windows to having everything measured and installed. I received phone calls to schedule various items like the in house measurement and the installation date. The sales rep worked with me while I got approval from my HOA and handled a small change to the order. The HD contractors who did the installation took one day to do the job. They cleaned up everything and seemed to know what they were doing. The job supervisor was only on-site for about 10 minutes at the beginning and the very end of the job. It would have been nice to have them available for questions because the crew didn't speak much English and I had a couple questions. A couple pieces of interior window trim were dinged and covered with caulk. It's been several months since the installation and there hasn't been any problems.

They came out and measured my house. I went in to the store to look at the carpet. When I told them what I wanted they then gave me an estimate. They called me to schedule an installation. They came out and took the carpet and padding off the stairs. It was a good experience. There were some thing that they put into the estimate that didn't need to be done. They thought they woul dhave to removed more carpet, but I had that removed myself. They thought they were going to have to move more furniture, but we got that all straightened out. I even had a card for a different store and they gave me the discount from that card. The installation was great.

I went in to the store and requested a Home Depot Home Services appointment. Salesman came to the house and gave me 3 options of windows (cheapest, middle and most expensive). Later, someone came to measure and the windows were installed 3 weeks later. Nothing went wrong and that was a nice change considering something almost always goes wrong when I have workers at my house.

I was lied to by the sales representative about the process, who told me it would take two days-one to remove the existing counters, one to install new ones and hook everything up again. It ended up taking 10 separate appointments over the course of 5 months, including 1 week where I had no counters whatsoever, and had to do dishes in the upstairs bathroom. Every step, something went wrong because a previous sub-contractor had either not done the job (such as leveling counters) or forgot something. That was 10 days I had to take off of work for this disaster of a job. Appointment 1-templating. Appointment 2-removal of counters and unhooking the plumbing. Appointment 3-installation, but could not install because cabinets were not level. Did not check that during previous appointments. No counters during this time. Appointment 4-had to come see the cabinets to see what needed to be done to level. Still no counters. Appointment 5-cabinets get leveled. Appointment 6-counters installed, partially. Forgot to bring one piece of granite. Appointment 7-counters installed. Chips on granite, had to repair. Appointment 8-installation of plumbing. Discovered the neck of insta-hot is too short for granite (despite the Kitchen department manager assuring me it would fit). Order an extension for insta-hot. Appointment 9-insta-hot installation! But wait-with the extension the hole is too narrow and must be re-drilled. Appointment 10-SUCCESS! I have a working kitchen. Home Depot offers me a 10% refund only. I finally take it because I don't have the energy to keep up the fight. Please don't use Home Depot unless you want to be stressed out for months and months. Even thinking about this renovation makes my blood pressure rise.

The contracted company, contacted me the next morning. Two workers showed up at 9:45 A.M. While one working was disconnecting the old, the other was prepping the new. An exchange was made. While the old was going out the door, the new was being connected. 45 minutes and the job was well done. I now have an efficient quiet gas water heater.

The installer and sub-contractors were wonderful, but the sales lady, Sheila, caused many issues that were extra work, time, and money. They came out and measure the rooms, I then went into the store to place the order for my flooring and carpet. When I was ordering the computer stated that I did not have the right sub flooring for the product I was ordering. Sheila then overrode it in the computer saying the computer was not right. The installers looked at the report that was given by the person who had done the measuring and stated they could not do the work due to improper sub floor, then they reported this back Home Depot and Sheila sat on it until I called to find out what the deal was. I then went into the store and talked to an assistant manager and a supervisor Tarsa, I ended up dealing with them from here on out. I went back in the store and I was refunded the money for the hardwood flooring since we went to all carpeting. From this point on it went more smoothly. When they came out to install the carpet they asked about padding which I had ordered. They needed to know which one I wanted I then told them. They came and installed it and did a wonderful job and then billed Home Depot of the padding. Which in return showed that they hadn't charge me for the padding. So in the end they agreed to pay for half of the padding since it was an error on their part. It seemed fair.

The installation company goes by several names. They did the installation as a flooring contractor for Home Depot in Springfield, Virginia. I hauled all the materials to the house since the material has to acclimate to the house for 48 hours. The installer showed up on day one, left after an hour saying he couldn't install the flooring because the house's floor was too crooked. Second Installer scheduled and showed up on day two, 2.5 hours late and brought his girlfriend with him (said he got lost). Second installer didn't have tools to remove floor, I had to loan him tools. He started work at 11:00 A.M. and I ran him off at 9:00 P.M. and he was only 1/3 done. He promised to show no later than 9:00 A.M .the next day. Second installer showed up at 10:30 the second day, with girl friend. Installer and girl friend used toilet as their ashtray. They were asked to leave at 2:00 P.M. because of poor work. Exchanged many, many calls with the installation company (in NJ), and Home Depot. Home Depot inspected the 2/3 done floor, and called the installation company to send in a new installer, remove the flooring and install another new floor. Home Depot supplied new materials and after 3 weeks I picked up material the new installer showed up, installed the floor and left. The floor was incorrectly installed (according to the manufacturer based on photos I sent), and in one instance the installer actually nailed a piece of the laminate - voiding the warranty. Home Depot stated they would make it right and ordered new materials. I picked them up about 3 weeks later, the installation company showed up as did the regional Home Depot representative. The regional Home Depot representative spent most of the day at my house. The regional Home Depot representative had to teach the "professional" installer how to install this particular type of floor. Home Depot deserves some credit for working to make sure the customer (me) was satisfied. Home Depot had to pay for the 2nd and 3rd shipments of flooring, and the 2nd and 3rd shipments of kickboard, and they made the installation company show up the 2nd and 3rd times. So a one day event took almost three months. I cannot recommend that anyone use Home Depot's floor installation subcontractor. The grading I've given is primarily against the floor installation company. Home Depot deserves credit for resolving the issue to my satisfaction, but that has to be weighed against the problem.
Description of Work: I contracted with Home Depot to: 1) Remove old vinyl tile flooring. 2) Install approximately 300 square feet of "DuPont" Tuscan Stone Laminate flooring. 3) Install new kick board/mop board.
