Description of Work: We needed the hardwood floors on the first floor of our townhouse (dining room, living room, hall, hall closet, powder room) refinished well enough for putting the house on the market. The company's rep (Ed) came out, spent considerable time looking at the floors, advising us, and taking measurements. He thoroughly explained the process, how long it would take, what was involved, and what we needed to do to get ready. We took two bids; Hatcher's was clearly the winner. We scheduled the job for several weeks in advance, and the workers showed up exactly on time. They sealed off all the other rooms, sanded down to bare wood, and spread a few suggested stains (based on existing wooden HVAC floor vents), from which we selected one. They stained the first day, then came back three consecutive days to appy water-based polyurethane. There was a little smell, but not as much as we anticipated, and wholly bearable. On the third day, Ed called to confirm the sheen of the third coat, which would be applied on the last day; we picked a semi-gloss. When we came home, we were dumb-struck by how beautiful the floors were! And they were completely dry. The color was a little lighter than our old floors, a very warm brownish stain, and the sheen was perfect. They had removed and installed all-new shoe molding (quarter round) and two new thresholds to the kitchen, all included in the price. They bumped one newly-painted wall with their sander, which left a black mark, but no big deal to paint over it, and it doesn't show. And it was only one; no one's perfect, and we'll give them that. All-in-all, exactly the kind of service we would expect from professionals, at a very reasonable price. Prospective buyers of our house will be gob-smacked by how beautiful the floors are. We expect it will be a great selling feature.
