Deborah and Gerardo were amazing. Deborah is very knowledgeable about erosion prevention, she recommends low-maintenance/native plantings that still gave our yard a wow factor. They started by adding 10 new trees/plants on our property line to define the space. Then Gerardo and his team, master masons, build beautiful walls and a walkway that will last the life of the house. He also repaired the front brick steps of our landing to look like new. They sourced specific materials we requested including visiting several stone yards to get the colors of flag stone and field stone that we wanted. Deborah also has come back to consult on additional plantings on several occasions, and has even given us several flats of ground cover for the next part of our project.

The project was handled excellently! We started with a detailed consultation with Deborah Rudolph to discuss my needs, budget and lifestyle. As I am not a gardener, I wanted to transform my backyard into an attractive area which was easy to maintain and gave me a better view of the lovely trees and lake behind my house. Gerrado Crus met with me to discuss the plan and his crew of masons and workers worked hard to create a beautiful natural flagstone patio. At each stage in the project, communication was good so I knew what was happening next. The costs were reasonable and no surprises! Deborah worked with me to identify plants for my garden that would suit the climate, amount of sunlight and be easy to maintain. I am very happy with my new back fence which is a cottage garden style with a small gate. As this was not available, Gerrado and his crew created the fence for me. Now the backyard opens up into the landscape behind and is very easy to maintain. I have had many compliments on the work from neighbors and people walking on the trail behind my house. I would definitely hire Green Lady Landscape Design and Masonry again and recommend them for any design project!

Green Lady was the only vendor that understood the conditions on the hill and what would work best from a practical and aesthetic standpoint. From the first call to Deborah Rudolph to the finishing touches by Gerardo and his expert masonry team, we knew we chose the right company. The result was a beautifully situated and built flagstone patio (irregular stones in keeping with the look of our yard) that became part of our landscape. It was expertly done. The concrete slab foundation will prevent the patio from sliding down the hill. The landscaping recommendations and work was also the best match for our yard (not manicured, and native plants used).

My wife and I have been looking to replace our 20 + year old crumbling brick walkway for some time now. We sought out some local landscapers/masonry who offered very little in details and just a quote. Deborah and Geraldo came up with a simple, but lovely solution. We had a beautiful fieldstone wall installed around the stairs which absolutely transformed the look of our house. I have worked with and utilized the services of the Green Lady Landscape Design Company many times over the past 10 years. They have overhauled the front garden to one that is low-maintenance with great curbside appeal, improved erosion control, and installed a new patio in the backyard that is both beautiful, complementary to the current architecture and setting of the home, and functional! In fact, I am fairly certain that I have been the beneficiary of most if not all of the services they provide to include Concrete, Stone, Painting, Drainage, Erosion Control, Landscape Design, and Landscape Installation. They were communicative and attentive to every last detail through all phases of the project; from the initial consultation, personalized design, renovation of the hardscape and landscape, and follow up customer care. Deborah Rudolph and I met for initial planning for renovation of our backyard terraces, patio and porch in June. My existing concrete block terraces were a mess; collapsing in some places, bulging in others. I wasn't sure what the answer was to this problem, but I knew that I wanted to reuse the pavers and concrete block that we had onsite. Deborah and her partner Gerado Cruz were prompt, courteous and enthusiastic about reusing materials. They were creative and came up with extraordinary design options that were perfect for our property. All planning was reviewed with me personally and completed by Gerado and his crew. The crew were polite, always well-mannered and I was informed when they would be on premises or not, ( if it was a rainy day). Initially,Deborah personally presented multiple design options for renovating pavers, stone walls, stone patio. We were presented with a an itemized Service Proposal that was easy to understand and reasonably priced. We went forward with the project and we we rewarded with a magnificent, customized job that is not only functional and just beautiful. We completed the project on time. We are now able to enjoyable moments on our porch and backyard thanks to Green Lady. The points that make the Green Lady stand apart from other companies are: EXCELLENT CLIENT COMMUNICATION I appreciated the fact that the initial Service Proposal was itemized with each section broken out to reflect the area to be completed. SUPERB DESIGN Both masonry and landscape design was innovative, functional and out of the box creative. They used all the concrete block and pavers as well. CONSISTENT DAILY CLEAN-UP OF WORKSITE AND OVERALL CLEANLINESS OF WORKMEN AND MATERIALS My project encompassed both the front and back of my house over many weeks, so daily upkeep was essential. The crew cleaned up their tools and materials daily and when the whole project was finished even the driveway was power-washed. More than 30 years had taken its toll on the hardscaping around our house. Deborah and Gerardo came up with the perfect design and plan for how to cure the problem. The accompanying photos show the before (the challenge they faced) and after (the beautiful results they achieved). They started by removing the entire front walkway, the timbers around the planting areas, and the brick wall alongside the garage. Removing the existing walkway turned out to a major undertaking, since unbeknown to anyone, the original owner of the house had gone overboard in pouring the concrete underlayment for it. Gerardo and crew had to bring in a trailer mounted compressor and pneumatic jackhammer to break up the 14 or more inches of concrete lurking under the benign looking brick and flagstone walkway. The old concrete underlayment had to be removed because it had settled and tilted over the decades. The new walkway, composed of flagstone set in mortar, was laid on a new concrete underlayment, of more reasonable thickness, interlaced with appropriate rebar reinforcing. The brick wall and all of the planting area wooden borders were replaced with colonial stone, stacked and mortared in place with such loving craftsmanship that the result is a work of art. Everyone who sees it makes highly favorable comments about the design and workmanship. The existing concrete front porch, that ran the length of the house, was covered in the same flagstone as the walkway, generating an extremely effective blending of the house and hardscaping. On the side of the house opposite to the walkway, wall, and planter renovation, the planting areas were outlined with low bordering walls composed of the same stacked and mortared colonial stone, and the existing walkway from the front of the house to the rear yard, was replaced with beautiful natural stone stepping stones. It’s an understatement to say we couldn’t be happier with the finished results, and we can’t be more emphatic in our recommendation that if you are considering doing any landscaping/hardscaping project around your house, give Deborah and Gerardo a chance to amaze you, as they did us.

When contracting a job, I look for 5 qualities as indicators throughout the process of the work being completed. Those qualities from start to finish are availability, communication, cost, workmanship, and trust. What I discovered throughout the entirety of working with Deborah of Green Lady Landscaping was that each expectation and benchmark were met enthusiastically and professionally. Before meeting, I had the opportunity to speak with Deborah a couple times by phone as she continued to take calls while on vacation while out of state. She never rushed the conversation and was genuinely interested in my project from the start. We made plans to meet upon her return and to my surprise, she brought out her number one hardscape partner Gerardo. They both reviewed the project site, went over all the details, and helped me fine tune the design of my new retaining wall which now included a nice set of steps. What stood out during this time was that Deborah had met my 7 year old daughter who has spina bifida. Deborah took the time to think outside the box of what I had presented for the project to suggest putting in an extra set of steps that would allow my daughter easier access to the sidewalk while being wide enough for her to navigate with her canes. This was the first display from Green Lady Landscaping that their interests are in providing unique and specific services to their customers as individuals. I found great value and appreciation in this approach. At this stage what convinced me to use Green Lady Landscaping was their eye for what would be most useful for my family and that they did not over commit to the job before taking the time to ensure they had an opening for me and the right resources for the project. Deborah was very up front about needing to check the schedule and pricing everything out fairly and accordingly. I place high value in companies like this that do not over commit and communicate clearly. Once the project was scheduled, Deborah stated her crew would be at my house and begin work at 7:30am on the agreed start date. I honestly didn't expect that to happen as her crew would be traveling during rush hour traffic from a different county. To my surprise and true to her word, I had a crew at my house at 7:30am on the dot. While the project was in progress, Gerardo continued to come out to my house to provide assistance as well as quality control with the crew. Due to previous less than expected results in the past, I remained on site to watch the team as well, What I observed was a team of professionals that paid close attention to detail and rarely took what I would consider to be well deserved breaks. At the end of each workday, they would tidy up the area and do their best to make the work area not look like... a work area. I valued this as I live in an area with some over active HOA enforcement staff. Even more, I never requested them to clean up in the way the did. One day in particular is worth mentioning separately. Once my new retaining wall; which turned out to be 2 new flagstone planting areas with a nice set of steps separating the two, was complete the only work left to do was clean up of all the rock and dirt from digging. The pile was fairly large and on this particular day the heat index was above 105 degrees. I called Deborah directly and told her to leave the crew at home. It was simply too hot for that kind of work on a day with area heat warnings. True to what she had promised, Deborah had her team out anyway and the job site was cleaned and completed as she had promised. Because of the intense heat my children; who had become very comfortable with her team by this point, decided to make their special lemonade and provide it to the team so that they could stay cool. Once the project was complete it took little time for me to realize how much Deborah, Gerardo, and the team had transformed the look of my home with their vision and quality work. What used to be a stacked retaining wall that was more for convenience than aesthetics and constructed in a few hours, was now an eye pleasing, well built, retaining wall with functional steps that drew the attention and compliments of the other home owners in my neighborhood... not just my neighbors. Additionally and while I anticipated the typical "added cost" that many companies and independent contractors try to throw in at the end of a project, I was pleased that what I paid to Green Lady Landscaping was exactly what they said in the quote. They stuck to their deal which tells me to stick to their word. Since the completion of my project, Deborah has personally reached out to make sure my family and I are still satisfied with the job Green Lady Landscaping completed for us. This tells me that as a business owner, Deborah is just as concerned with the quality of work performed as making sound business decisions. I have zero doubt that if any part of my project were not finished as I expect or if I had found even a minor flaw, she would have her team back out to make sure the issue was addressed and that I was satisfied. Green Lady Landscaping is a wonderful woman owned small local business that brings talent, customer service, professionalism, and vision to life in the form of beautiful landscape design and installation. I recently had Deborah Rudolph, owner of Green Lady come out to discuss the landscape in the front of my house. Her enthusiasm for the job as well as her design for a Pennsylvania stacked stone wall addition to the front of my house quite simply sold me. The plans were drawn up, community approval obtained, and a date set for the construction of the wall to begin. The was was constructed on site with each stone carefully laid with hidden mortar to ensure a lifetime of use and beauty. The work was done over the course of about 3 days, with the wall rising approximately 4 feet at the highest point. When she was ready to begin to fill the bed with plants and shrubs, Deborah texted me from nurseries all over northern Virginia sending pictures of the plants that she had found that she felt would look beautiful and thrive in the location in front of my home. She and her employees came with the plants, the flower bed was planted, with Deborah and her staff making good use of my existing plants, and adding beautiful specimens in to add color, height and texture. A secondary bed in front of the house, along with an island in the middle of the yard was created to add balance and color. The yard looks great, the work was timely, and the agreed to budget was kept. I have been in contact with Green Lady since then, and she has stopped by to check on plants, drop off plants and cuttings (at no charge) to fill out my back garden as well. I love the bed, but feel that the true value was working with Green Lady. She listened to what I wanted, the colors I loved, and the amount that I had to spend. She is energetic, knowledgeable, and embodies customer service. I will work with Green Lady again in the future when the time comes to tackle my back yard and patio. **Note, I could not figure out how to upload pictures of the yard. :(

We have wanted to spruce up the front of the house for some time and the original front concrete walkway had sunk a number of inches creating a trip hazard. We first became aware of the Green Lady, Deborah Rudolph, when her company was doing similar work with one of our neighbors. Watching her team work, we realized that they did quality work in a very professional manner. We asked the Green Lady if she would work with us to transform the look and feel of the front of our home. She was very willing and as it turned out extremely patience and flexible with us. She worked diligently with my wife and me extracting our wants and also what we didn?t want (very important). She was always making suggestions and soliciting our ideas as she walked the property numerous times with us locking down the final design. We made it very tough for the Green Lady as we could not decide what materials to use for the front porch and the sidewalk but ever patience, the Green Lady even joined us at the local stone and brick company and brought out samples for us to inspect. Many thanks to the Green Lady?s extremely talented and experienced foreman, Geraldo, as he was quickly able to see my wife?s vision and quickly added suggestions. He personally went to the stone and brick company to hand pick the pallets of bricks to be used. As a result, the front of our home has been transformed into a beautiful setting which we and our neighbors are extremely pleased with. This review would not be complete without also praising the workers who showed up promptly and worked very hard at achieving the final result. They were courteous and very respectful of the family and our pets. They went above and beyond with not only their work but in help us; they insisted on helping my daughter carry in a large and heavy bag of dog food and a case of soda. I would be remiss if I did not tell you that the ?Green? Lady is very true to her name. Her team made maximum use of recycled materials on site including the busted up original cement sidewalk. Rather than take more waste to the dump, the team dug a footing trench where the garden wall was being constructed and used the old concrete as part of the footings for the wall. I look forward to working with the Green Lady in the fall when we do some planting in the front of our house and look forward to future efforts to improve our home. Contractor broke up the old concrete and leveled the new surface. He took away excess dirt to a designated place in the back woods. He then laid a new concrete walkway. In a couple days, he came back and constructed a retainer wall on one side. It looks great! At the end of the week he buried three downspouts. Though he did have to come back a day later and level some of the dirt over the pipeline. At the beginning of the next week, he picked up extra supplies and cleaned the area. He regraded the soil next to the retainer wall. The area was left spotless.

It went well. Deborah took the time to meet with us and find out our needs and wants and work with our budget. The project took a little longer than expected but that was because of the horrible weather. They made sure to have someone working everyday they could to get the job done. We are very happy with the end result.

Green Lady Landscaping did a wonderful job with our home! Many companies never returned our calls and the couple that did never got back to us with an estimate. Deborah was very honest and forthcoming everyone we talked. Although her company is very busy, she aways managed to contact us regularly to keep us updated and ensure she was meeting our wxpectations.
