Exterior Medics

Best contractor we ever hired! Tom Green was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done. He did not try to "over sell" and gave use several options based on cost and urgency. Tom was always prompt and punctual in responding to our requests and needs. Boris Cardenas, the site manager, was also prompt and efficient in getting the job done with minimal inconvenience to our daily routines. First, we had some wooden trim on our house exterior replaced and painted. At first inspection, there were some areas that were overlooked by the crew. Once we notified Exterior Medics, both Tom and his crew responded immediately, did the walk-through to make sure everything had been completed, and immediately corrected the oversights with no hassle. We also had a custom flat roof and railing the was over our front door. It was initially a very poor design by the builder, Centex, that did not allow for proper water drainage. Instead water would gather on top and over time led to water seepage and wood damage. Exterior Medics corrected the grade (to allow for better water run-off) and painted the face boards. However, upon inspection, we noticed that they did not paint / clean the decorative railings that now stood out because of the freshly painted face boards. Like before, Tom and his crew responded immediately and corrected the problem to our satisfaction. Lastly, we had builder-grade windows replaced in our kitchen, family room, and dining room. There was a miscommunication between us and the window manufacturer as to what windows were actually being replaced. Once again, Tom was very responsive and came through with a very amicable and reasonable resolution. It seemed like we had issues along the way. But as someone who works in a service industry, I always judge not on whether there are problems/issues, but how the company responds. In each case, Exterior Medics passed with flying colors. We had several companies come out to give estimates on this work. We decided on Exterior Medics because they were informative, reasonable in cost, responsive, but most of all seemed to take into consideration what was best for the homeowner, not what they can get away with charging. I would vey highly recommend Tom Green and Exterior Medics if you need any type of home repair.

The contractor and all the employees were respectful, prompt, efficient, and did excellent work. When they came across a few additional pieces of plywood that they recommended replacing, they asked us and gave an estimate before doing so (and I didn't feel any pressure either way). They completed the job quickly, but thoroughly, and cleaned up every piece of trash before they left. They called and emailed a few times after the job was complete to make sure there weren't any problems or concerns. On the whole, it was the best experience with any contractor we've had. When we're finally able to fix the remainder of the roof, we will definitely call them again.

Our experience with Exterior Medics was thorough and smooth throughout the whole process. I submitted a request online to be contacted by them and they responded within one business day. I had noticed a problem with the roof although did not know what the proper name was to call the issue. I explained it over the phone and they sent someone out to meet with me. The individual who I met with was prompt and professional. He knew exactly what was wrong when I pointed it out and explained what it was (rake board). I was concerned with snow in the weather forecast for the next day, and he assured me that it would not leak into our attic from the area that was exposed. I found this to be very reassuring because he could have taken that opportunity to scare me and say there may be a big problem with the snow and "sell me" on getting an emergency tarp put on the roof to cover the spot at the cost of several hundred dollars. I was impressed with his honesty. We scheduled a time for the work to be done a few weeks later. The workers also arrived on time and let me know when they had to run to Home Depot because the paint color they arrived with did not completely match what was along the side of our roof. Everything was completed and now you cannot tell that any work was done along that side of the roof. We had a very good experience and would certainly use Exterior Medics again.

Met & exceeded all expectations! Was on time - When weather delayed work, they came on Christmas Eve to finish! Cleaned up when finished & final bill was less than original estimate. They are the best in my book!

Gutters look good, though they didn't do a good job cleaning up as I found bits of black pieces that look like they came from the roof all over my deck and in my yard. Also, the person who came to my house for the estimate misled me about the process and timing for the work, which ended up being completed weeks after I had anticipated. Some of the delay was due to weather, but some of it was due to steps the company had to go through that I wasn't informed about. Overall, I'm satisfied with the job that was done. The people who I spoke with by phone were very polite and professional.

I sent in an e-mail request last week and have yet to hear from this service provider. I thought I would give them several business days to contact me but I still have not heard anything.

Exterior Medics were great! They helped me with a tricky situation and were very flexible, professional, and patient. I have a duplex-style home, with a difficult neighbor, and they were able to devise a roof system that worked for both me and my neighbor. They removed the old roof- which had been leaking and was in pretty rough shape- recommended replacement of a few beams, installed a new GAF roof system, fixed drainage issues at my chimney, replaced the gutters, and separated my roof from my neighbors with a custom parapet wall system. The price was a little higher than other quotes, but the quality is outstanding and the lifetime transferable warranty is worth it (you get what you pay for).

My husband and I absolutely love this company. They are fantastic about getting back with you on time and the customer service is always top notch. The servicemen they have sent to our house have always been professional, neat in appearance and knowledgeable. I found out from the last visit that they can also help me with some drainage issues we have in the rear of our house from our gutters. I plan to use them when we are ready for that repair. Also, the employees who came to our house said they like to work for this company and that they treat their employees well. That's a good sign!

Exterior Medics masons, Walter, and his assistant, Delmar, came out on 6 and 7 February to retool, replace mortar cement, and replace bricks on the front porch of the house. The porch was in bad shape with broken bricks on the porch steps and on supporting walls of the approximately 2 foot high porch walls. Much mortar cement was either cracked or missing. That they did this project in 2 days instead of one indicated to me that they intended to do a good and proper job in spite of having to work in the cold and windy weather of February. The porch looks so much better now that it has new bricks which replaced the broken ones and all the broken, cracked or missing mortar was replaced with fresh, new mortar. I was very pleased with the work these two masons, Walter and Delmar, did on my chimneys, and I was just as pleased with the results and appearance of the front porch. The work Exterior Medics did on all 3 projects improved the exterior appearance of my 60 plus year old house. I am pleased to have found a company that I can trust to do good, quality work, with excellent staff and craftsmen, who care about their customer's satisfaction. I felt as though everyone at Exterior Medics treated my home as they would their own. I want to mention once again how pleased I was with the work Mason Arthur, sales representative, did in representing Exterior Medics. He explained things clearly and patiently and made me feel totally at ease with him and the company. I drove to their office in Springfield, VA because I wanted to make another payment on my bill so I would have less to finance. Although they didn't know I was coming, I was welcomed warmly by Rebecca at the front desk, and introduced to Ricardo, their accounting specialist, who was friendly and courteous, and handled my payment promptly and efficiently. I have spoken on the phone numerous times with Rebecca and Lauren, and each time was greeted pleasantly. They always answered my questions, and treated me with courtesy and respect. I believe the saying is true, that 'you get what you pay for'. And I believe I got good quality products and craftsmanship, as well as peace-of-mind from Exterior Medics.

They took a few photos to help explain its different conditions. I requested that the photos be sent to me via e-mail. I was assured I would receive them by day's end. I received their invoice, however, no photos were ever sent.

We are very happy with the service that we received. The door looks and fits great. The door had originally been placed there by a contractor 13 years ago and it never fit properly. Exterior Medics was a bit higher in price than a big box store but the contractor they sent out was rude and not at all professional. Mark Watson came out to estimate the job and he was so professional and knowledgeable about what product would work well for us. The little bit extra that Exterior Medics might cost is well worth having a hassle-free experience. After the door was installed, we received an email and phone call making sure that the job was done to our satisfaction. You just can't beat that kind of excellent customer service. Their work force is so professional. It was a cold day but everyone took off their shoes before they entered our home, then cleaned up every bit of dust before they left. This is the second time we have used Exterior Medics and I know not to waste my time calling any company but them!

They were here when they said they would be, all the workers were very nice plus friendly and cleaned up before they left. No nails on the ground or trash left behind. Just great to deal with and did a nice job. All of them! This company goes over and above. The girls in the office were awesome! My son's boxer pasted away November 8th and they sent me flowers which was so kind and thoughtful. My son died October 2012 so all I had left was his boxer and then I lost her.

This is the second of 3 projects that Exterior Medics is doing for me. The first was chimney repair, antenna removal and installing chimney caps. I have already completed that review. This 2nd project was to remove the old roof on the house, which was over 20 years old and had some storm damage, and replace the roof. I reported in the first review on 18 January 2014, that the company representative, Mason Arthur, gave me detailed briefings with photographs of what he found on my old roof, and about the 6 tab, Timberline shingle that the company recommends. I was comfortable, and very satisfied after his briefing. The roofing team did the work on the roof on 27 January 2014. When the old shingles were removed they found that there were 120 linear feet of rotted wood, some near the storm damage and some at the back of the center chimney and on the back porch area. They replaced the rotted wood with new planks. Mason Arthur showed me photos where the damaged wood was replaced. Mason Arthur said that the crew paid extra attention to those areas when they installed the leak barriers on the deck prior to installing the shingles. On the edges of the roof they installed metal strips along the lip edges so that moisture coming off the roof and onto the gutters could not get underneath the shingles and cause rot. They installed new flashing around the chimneys and new vent covers, as well as their Cobra Attic Ventilation ridge cap and ridge cap shingles, which gives better attic ventilation. It was a very cold, windy day, and there were several inches of snow on the ground. The roofing team was there all day despite the cold weather. The foreman, Cesar Gonzalez, had a crew of 6 or 7 men. From my observation, they worked as a team and were efficient, knowledgeable and skilled. Cesar Gonzalez and his crew members were polite and courteous to me as I walked around the house and watched them finish their work. They had put down tarps on my porch to collect scraps and debris, and they did a good job cleaning up the yard. The new roof looks great, and I'm relieved to have that worry off my mind. I highly commend Cesar Gonzalez and his well trained and skilled team for doing a great job in very cold weather conditions. I highly recommend Exterior Medics. They employ skilled craftsmen and knowledgeable, attentive staff, use quality products, and believe in and practice great customer service.

The presentation was great but the price was very high, almost double the price of the company that I went with. They were professional and very informative.

I thought they were a little expensive, but I also thought they were very good and thorough. Top notch.

We had been having water seeping into the dining room ceiling but could not determine where it was originating. Eric diagnosed the problem to be deteriorating insulation. They provided an estimate in 3 days, and scheduled the work soon thereafter. If I had not seen them take down the existing siding, I would not have know they had been there, as they cleaned up the work site as if no one had ever been there. No nails, no debris, no garbage. There workmen were courteous.

Excellent. Stuck to budget. Work crew was on time and did quality work. There was follow up.

It was great. Their price was pretty fair. They were very prompt. When they came back on the fall, they didn’t charge me at all. They were very professional and informative. They took pictures and showed me the pictures. They explained thorough what they were going to do.

The workers had some issues finding my house, but did show up in a reasonable time. They were able to replace all three caps in just over an hour. I have not seen any leaks, and the repairs look outstanding from the ground.

First, they sent a consultant to discuss the materials used, my choices, and to offer a quote. The work was done around my schedule, and I was allowed to pay the work in two parts. The best part is that I was having issues with my gutters two years later (2014), and they came and did maintenance without charging me anything. I even got pictures of the problem so I could see what was going on (the issue wasn't their fault, by the way; I didn't have the requirement maintenance after the gutters were installed). They were very nice about it, even though it wasn't their responsibility to help me. I would definitely use this company again.

They missed a spots initially and when I called they sent someone right to take care of the areas. They did a good on the repairs of the brick sidewalk. I would use them again and I have recommended them to a co-worked.

Had observed work by this Exterior Medics on neighboring home and was impressed with quality of work. Initially, intended to ask about window shutter replacement, and vinyl siding repair. Met with product consultant who proposed other work that might be appropriate. While this may be construed as up-selling, there was no pressure involved, and the work suggested in fact was welcome in terms of pulling our heads out of the sand to see defects that clearly needed to be addressed (roofing, and gutters). Work was performed by different crews during different time intervals. This may have resulted in a longer time frame - also was affected by bad weather - but the fact that each crew had a different specialization was comforting. During the jobs, we were notified of when the crews would be out, how long each job would take and any unanticipated delays. The production assistant was great to work with in that regard. Very happy with the quality of materials and workmanship. In particular, the decision the use Hardie board to replace vinyl and, GAF Lifetime shingles for the roof replacement, was well worth the extra material cost. Intend to use this company again in the near future.

I had 3 visits by sales representative Mason Arthur, on 9, 14 and 15 January 2014,who inspected the roof, chimneys and porch and took pictures. On his next visit, 14 January, he showed me the photos and explained what the company craftsmen, who reviewed the photos, recommended. Mason, himself, has a great deal of experience working on roofs, and was able to explain how the work would be done and answer my questions. We looked at company brochures and discussed all options concerning the needed tasks, color and price options on shingles, discussed financing, and showed me a roof vent collar sample and the roof vent sample for the peak of the roof. On the 3rd visit he brought timberline shingle samples, and I decided on a color. I signed the contract and gave a $2,000 check for down payment. I was very pleased to be working with Mason Arthur. He is friendly, genuinely cared about my home and my concerns, is very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. I felt very at ease and reassured that Mason was truthful and represented Exterior Medics in a very favorable way. I had several calls from Exterior Medics office, I think from Lauren, asking if I had any questions, and keeping me informed of scheduling, showing Exterior Medics' concern for their customers. On Friday 1/17/2014, the company's masonry expert, Walter and a helper started work on the chimneys while I was at work. They came back today, 1/18, Saturday to finish up. They placed chimney caps on all the flues, chipped away the old cement on the top of the chimneys, which were worn away and badly cracked, and placed new cement on the top, flat surface of the chimneys, removed worn mortar between bricks as needed and replaced and repointed the entire mortar between bricks as needed. Walter told me that from marks on the chimney caps he had installed on Friday, that he could tell that a raccoon had tried to get into the chimney overnight. I had no idea raccoons were taking shelter in my chimney. Now they can't get in. Walter said another crew would be scheduled to do the brick and mortar repairs on my front porch. And the house roof replacement has not been scheduled yet. Walter and his assistant were on time, very skilled and efficient in their craftsmanship, and responsive to my questions. I was at ease and relieved to have an expert mason like Walter and his assistant repair my chimneys. The repairs took place over 2 days in cold and windy weather, and despite the cold, they took their time to do the work with patience and precision. The results look great, and I have the confidence and peace of mind to know that they were done professionally by skilled and experienced craftsmen. I am very happy with Walter, his assistant, Mason Arthur, and the entire Exterior Medics Team, and recommend them highly. These 3 projects are financed as one. Financing is still being worked on with company accounting and GE Capital. The total cost is estimated to be around $10,688 not including the $2,000 deposit.

I indicated I needed two rooftop bathroom exhaust fan vent terminations added to my roof, as well as one gas flue "B-Vent" discharge termination. This is what I had requested an estimate for when scheduling the appointment via the phone line. However, the estimator did not know the difference between a plumbing waste stack vent and a bathroom fan exhaust duct vent. He described his intention to vent my bathroom fan's exhaust duct vertically in an un-capped PVC pipe - exposed to rain accumulation (as is common with a plumbing waste stack vent). When I pointed out this flaw in his plan, he proceeded to explain that it was completely acceptable for rainwater to accumulate in a bathroom exhaust fan duct, since 'water is coming out of there anyway'. Ridiculous. To try and salvage the discussion I showed him a picture of a rooftop bathroom exhaust fan discharge (such as the Broan #644) that I had pulled up on-line using my smart-phone. His reply was that such a thing was only suitable for the gas vent - which it isn't - that would be a Code violation. A suitable B-Vent termination would be a Duravent "DuraCap" or "High-Wind Cap" with the Duravent roof flashing and storm collar (or equal). Bottom line; the estimator didn't know what he was talking about and we parted ways. As stated, he was punctual and polite, but ill equipped to perform the job.
