Ray Arndt performed a home inspection at my home, paid for by potential buyers of the home. When the home inspection "report" was submitted to my husband and me it only contained five pages and only listed the items Mr. Arndt thought to be problems or potential problems. There was no indication that he checked all the systems of the home, like the plumbing, electrical and other systems other than the statement in his "report" that if something is not mentioned on his list, it was okay. That is not a professional home inspection report and should not be acceptable, especially to the party paying this man. During the inspection, he did not operate the dishwasher properly and got water all over the floor. He was unfamiliar with the Samsung refrigerator and how the ice maker operated so just said it was not working. He stated that the two fireplaces that have gas inserts had open flues. Well, yes, he should know they are suppose to. Finally, this man says on his website that he is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) which is the professional organization most home inspectors belong to. That organization, as of September 2015, says that he has NOT been a member for the past 5 years. Mr. Arndt also says he carries insurance but stated to us that he only carries his own insurance, he does not any insurance covering any errors and omissions he may make. With so many other very competent home inspectors in the Northern Virginia area, I do NOT recommend that you pay this man to perform a home inspection on your home!
