John was very courteous and prompt. He wanted to start with the interior projects. He removed the caulk and re-caulked the bathtub and installed the safety latches, then came back another day to do a little more on the tub do the electrical outlet. He worked in short spurts. The only major disappointment was his resistance to do the shutters. Even though he said he would hang them when we were discussing my projects over the phone, once he arrived he gave me the strong impression that he didn't want to do it and so I didn't push him to do it. He didn't even own a ladder. This was disappointing since hanging the shutters was a big project that I needed to get done. I was hoping to find a handyman that did a variety of projects but I'm not sure John is that guy. He is not willing to do every kind of job, but he did a fine job on the 3 interior jobs so I can't complain about the work that was completed. I just don't need someone to say they are going to do a job and then not be willing to do it once they've arrived. He's also not an estimate guy. I asked him for an estimate on the jobs he did and on another job I was thinking about and he just wouldn't give me one. So if you have small jobs that you don't need an estimate for, he's a good person to call. His price was fair for the jobs he completed and his work was good.
Description of Work: I called Evans Home Improvement to get estimate on hanging exterior shutters on the first and second floor windows, re-caulking a bathtub, fixing an outlet cover, and installing some safety latches. I spoke to John Evans who appears to do most of the work solo, at least he worked alone on all of my jobs. He resisted giving me an estimate, but told me his hourly rate and that he could do the jobs, so I agreed to have him come over. I thought he would come over and look at my projects and give me an estimate but he came over ready to get started on the projects.

After trying several plumbing companies who wouldn't give me the time nor courtesy to do the job I joined Angies List and found great reviews for Evans Home Improvement. I'm extremely pleased with Jon's prompt, courteous and reasonably priced service - even gave a military discount. Jon replaced two leaking faucets with new ones I provided - one in kitchen and the utility sink in the laundry room which was stuck to the tub. He attempted to fix the dripping spigot in the backyard by replacing the washer. Unfortunately the 42 year old valve body wouyldn't budge even with a few strong pulls on a wrench. Jon even replaced the spigot handle he broke trying to pull the valve body. He didn't charge me for the spigot work since he couldn't get it fixed. He looked at a fascia board needing replacement but it would be a two person job so he referred another handyman listed on Angie's List. I'll definitely use him again when my renters need something fixed. Thanks Jon...you rock!

They were very responsive. They came quickly. I had a problem with water in my basement which had to be dealt quickly. They brought a dehumidifier which helped me. They looked at my front lawn and made some suggestions on what I should do to prevent water in the future. They didn’t really do any work, but they came out in August and did some repair work to my front door. They charged me $55 for that job as well. The guy is a first rate person. He knows what he’s doing. He does the job right the first time. He cleans up afterwards and charges a reasonable price. I would definitely use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Evans Home Improvement LLC on the 29th of September. It was a minor thing. I had water in my basement and they fixed it for me. I had a lot of difficulty in opening and closing the front door and they did some carpentry repairs for me in August.

I agree with the prior reviews: very prompt and very fair pricing. He re-grouted a portion of the master bath shower/tub area. He started the job, had to leave (which he told me about before starting the work) then returned near the end of the day to do the bulk of the work. It looks great. I am very pleased with this handyman and I intend to use him again.

I was looking for a handyman to do a couple things around the house that I just didn't have the tools/time/expertise to handle as we moved out of our home and wanted to prepare it for renters to come in. I called John Evans, discussed what I wanted done, and we agreed on a price and time. Communication was great, and John was able to accomodate our somewhat compressed timeline since we were due to leave the area soon. He showed up with the right tools and performed the work in a reasonable amount of time for a great price. I would definitely use this repairman again.
Description of Work: I had John do some minor woodwork (fixing some loose trim/moulding in our Kitchen) and also install some curtain rods and associated hardware in two of our bedrooms.

Mr. Evans arrived 15 min earlier than he said he would and we appreciated that. We bought the items to replace ahead of time. So he was able to get right to work. He was quick and efficient. In just about an hour, we had a new ceiling fan in the hall bedroom. It took him another couple of hours to finish the bathroom fan since he had to go into the attic and make some adjustments to the ventilation duct. To save us some money, he suggested taking the part out of the old celing fan he had just replaced and using it in the second fan that was broken. That way we didn't have to replace the entire thing. We agreed and it worked! Mr. Evans made sure to clean up the dust and debris before he left. All in all, it took just about 4 hours total including a break for lunch and a trip to Home Depost for parts. We were very satisfied with the quality of his work and will definitely be giving him a call in the future!

Jon promptly returned my initial phone call for an estimate, and within a few days was able to come to my house to begin work on all the tasks. He did a great job on everything, and was prompt, professional, and very knowledgeable on all issues. He's also very honest; after looking at a large crack in my concrete porch, he suggested that I contact another company to do the specific type of repair work that was required. His prices are reasonable, and it's obvious that he takes pride in his work. Also, I felt very comfortable leaving him alone in my house while I did errands - - he's very trustworthy. I've had several "handyman" workers in my house over the past 20 years, and he's simply the best. If you're looking for excellent work at a reasonable price, call Jon.
Description of Work: Jon performed the following jobs: prepped and painted outside handrails, wood trim, and bay window roof. Also installed a smoke and CO detector.

I contacted John on a Friday to inquire about getting a hole cut in a dry wall ceiling in order to better diagnosis a roof leak. (Did not ask John to deal with the leak, as the roof work is under warranty, but attic space is inaccessible and leak is small - water test with a hose on the roof didn't cause leakage, but heavy wind and rain does cause it - difficult to diagnosis without opening the ceiling.) John agreed to come out on Saturday morning. He called that day to ask if it would be a problem if he arrived early - he was about 15 minutes earlier than the appointment time, and spent about 45 minutes doing the job. The price he quoted was less than what I paid to have the ceiling cut open before (on-going leak issue which I thought was resolved once before!). I was very impressed with how little dust he generated in cutting the ceiling open. He held the shop vac nozzle by the dry wall saw as he cut, and it really reduced the mess. I had moved stuff out of the room and draped whatever I couldn't move, and it really wasn't necessary. He showed me that the some of the ceiling dry wall beyond the leak area is bowed and probably should be replaced when the ceiling is eventually repaired again.

It went great. Jon is a great guy. He does an excellent job. His work is beyond the call of duty. He traveled to get the electrical fixtures and did charge any extra for that service. He is not satisfied unless everything is perfect. I was impressed by the fact that after the job Jon came back to touch up his work even though I was completely satisfied with it in the first place. He did this free of charge as well. You can rest assured that if Jon does the work he will treat it as if he is working on his own home. If Jon works for you, you have nothing to worry about the job will be done right.

great service - looking forward to retaining his services again.
Description of Work: Jon Evans tackled my laundry-list of tasks I had, ranging from small drywall repair to assistance with selecting a new garage door. His drywall repair blended perfectly was better than the professional painters I hired earlier. He even met me at Home Depot to help me with ordering specs for a new entry and garage door. Jon is a gentleman; I am using him again soon.

They came out to give me an estimate, and when it became clear that my budget was very unrealistic, he coached me on a bunch of things to consider when re-planning the job I wanted to do (a bathroom remodel), what questions to ask a contractor and what to look out for. I felt like I got a free lesson and he devoted a lot of his time and energy to me.

John installed a garbage disposal that I had purchased to replace a broken one. He worked quickly, did a great job, and charged me 80% less than the outrageous quote I got from one of those t.v. advertised plumber cos. He also actually very helpfully pointed out another problem I might have in the future, without pushing a "hard sell" offer to fix. Plus, he is pleasant, a veteran, and nice to dogs. I will absolutely call him again for many of my other lingering household projects.
