The original service occurred years ago, and it was billed as "maintenance free". When we recently had a leak in our bay window area, noticed a gap in the. wrapping they had done. We asked them to come to the home, review and fix. They blew us off, didn't return calls or come to the home for months. When they did, their estimate was way over priced and didn't address the issue. The delays trying to get this company to respond to us, contributed to significant damage in my home. Part of the wind damage to my home was some shingle loss from my roof. They tried to tell me that I can't replace lost shingles and I need a new roof. This is not true, and would have turned the $600 repair into a $15,000 upgrade. On comparison shopping, their new roof estimate was over twice as expensive as the nearest reputable competitor.

Sir, We have no record of completing any work for this customer or this address. Since 1999 we have 3 completed jobs on this street however none of them match the street address, name or even work described. We also have no record of ever providing a roof estimate or any estimate to anyone with this name or address. Please contact our office if you need further assistance. It is possible there you used another company with a similar name. We would appreciate removing this review as we take our customer satisfaction ratings very seriously.

In my experience, focusing only on the lowest price now can in the long run bring higher future costs in terms of dollars, time, and emotional energy to remediate and resolve issues that can surprisingly surface due to poor workmanship or the use of inferior materials. If it's too cheap there is always a hidden cost somewhere. I always look for a fair price at the best value that will allow me to fix and forget about any future headaches.I recently purchased my remodeled home this year. I suspected the roof was older and probably needed to be replaced soon. I contacted Dream Home Remodeling whom I found on Angie's List. I met with Mike and he was fantastic. Mike did his presentation and answered all my questions and showed me all the materials that would be used. He mentioned that Dream Home Remodeling was also an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor (which is the highest level of certification from Owens Corning). Only Platinum Preferred Contractors are capable of offering the Platinum Owens Corning 50 year Warranty based on my reading of the terms and conditions of the Owens Corning warranty. I found real value knowing that if I worked with Dream Home Remodeling, the Owens Corning warranty would protect me from labor and material cost even if something were to happen to Dream Home Remodeling (i.e. bankruptcy, company dissolves, etc). With Mike the pricing discussion was clear, upfront, and honest. The Dream Home Remodeling estimate was lower than Nu Look but higher than others, but their value was the highest and I am a value buyer. I am willing to pay more upfront to get the best value and peace of mind especially for my home which I plan to own for life. I certainly have had my share of experiences paying less now but more later and it's just not worth it. I want it simple. Buy it now and forget about it forever. So I signed a contract with Mike that day breaking my rule of not making an immediate decision, but then again I knew I had other contractors already lined up coming the next few days to also provide their estimates. For my peace of mind, I had to know what else was out there and that I was getting the best value with Dream Home Remodeling. So, I met with Allmaster Builders the next day and they provided an informal estimate. Allmaster?s estimate was a little lower in price, but they were not a certified contractor for Owens Corning or GAF and thus were not capable of providing the highest manufactured warranty, but instead could only provide a labor warranty for 1 year. Needless to say I saw no value in AllMaster's informal estimate. Next I met with Katchmark roofing and it was actually a very refreshing estimate experience as the estimator was in and out in 20 minutes. Katchmark is a MasterElite GAF certified roofer and offered GAF shingles and could match a similar warranty to Owens Corning. Katchmark mentioned that they had completed a roof replacement last year for one of my neighbors down the street. I have to admit, that I was very tempted to go with Katchmark, but didn't after reviewing and comparing estimates in terms of material used and also researching and discovering that GAF is currently being sued in a Class Action Lawsuit for knowingly distributing defective shingles (http://www.law360.com/articles/408007/gaf-can-t-shake-shoddy-shingle-warranty-claims). Web researching obsessively for facts like a deranged homeowner paranoid of being conned by disarming sales contractors helped build my confidence in my decision in choosing Dream Home Remodeling for my roof replacement. My research included screening Better Business Bureau complaints and Angie?s list reviews, watching Youtube roofing videos, comparing GAF vs Owen Corning Warranties and last and probably the most compulsive I researched the companies date of incorporation and MD tax standing on the Maryland Dept. of Assessments and Taxation website(surprisingly I found one Angie?s List's roofing company who was offering roofing coupons was actually in a MD license forfeiture status). Because of my need to understand details, I read the Owens Corning warranty a few times on the Owens Corning website, and a sense of security developed from knowing Owens Corning completely covers warranty claims for labor installation and materials provided the roof installer is Platinum Preferred Certified just like Dream Home Remodeling. I have a few friends fighting with their roofers to fix leaks that occurred 2-3 years after the install and it gives me peace of mind knowing that I won't have those fights with Dream Home because the Owens Corning warranty will pay Dream Home to fix the problem or another company if Dream Home is for some reason not in business anymore which I highly doubt. With my mind at ease, I was ready for Dream Home Remodeling to start the roof replacement. Mr. Choi was the next person I met from Dream Home, and he oversaw the Dream Home crew. Mr. Choi and crew started work by removing my old shingles on Monday morning. Unfortunately, their supplier did not deliver the shingles to my home. Mr. Choi apologized and had Mike contact me immediately. Mike reassured me everything would be taken care of and apologized and said their crew would pick up the materials themselves. Unfortunately, it rained the next day and a tarp was placed over the roof. The next morning we noticed a leak from a recessed light in the corner of house. I called Mr. Choi and he came immediately. Mr. Choi noticed that the tarp wasn't covering the side portion of the roof, and he fixed it. Mr. Choi was very apologetic. Thankfully, Mr. Choi was very responsive and the leak was fixed quickly. At this point, I was a bit concerned. But at the same time, I felt reassured that Dream Home Remodeling was taking ownership and accountability of the issues, and that making me happy was their first priority. Working with the Dream Home team helped me appreciate how they positively handled this mishap and turned a negative into a positive. I appreciated their efforts to make things right, because I was reminded of my recent bad experience with Handyman Connections who caused a leak in my roof, and then stonewalled taking ownership of the issue and never attempted to try to reassure or make me happy. The contrast between the two companies is startling. I was thankful that I did my research. That I chose Dream Home to replace my roof and felt relieved, that I didn't need to involve my Homeowners insurance company (Encompass Insurance) to settle any issues. The next day Mr. Choi came back with his best roofing crew. My roof has a low slope so it was very easy for me to watch the crew work. First, Mr. Choi had his crew replace every roof board that was rotten. I was satisfied knowing that Dream Home had provided a reasonable board replacement price which could not significantly change my original estimate. I kept thinking to myself, that I had made the right choice in letting go of Nu Look Home Design's $7.50 board replacement charge which would potentially have been a fortune in up charges. Next, originally my roof was to only have standard ice shielding installed on portions of the roof, but because my roof had a lower slope in the back, Mr. Choi and Mike installed ice shielding on the entire back portion of roof at no extra charge! This really made me happy knowing that I had the best protection possible where the most problems would likely occur. Another detail I noticed was that Mr. Choi made sure that his Dream Home crew used 6 nails to secure each architectural shingle sheet to the roof boards as this was an Owens Corning installation requirement for their 130 mph wind warranty. The Dream Home crew were like perfectionist meticulously making sure each nail hit the "Surestrip" band on the Owen Corning shingle sheets. By securing every nail thru this "Surestip" band (this technology is only found in Owens Corning shingles) it ensures a rock solid application of the shingle to the roof boards. Next Mr. Choi had his crew install the aluminum drip edge. Here is where Mr. Choi and his crew shined again as they performed a custom fitting as the eaves area where the drip edge was to be installed was not completely level. Again at no additional cost, they did some adhoc carpentry work to level off the area and installed a custom aluminum back plating in order to protect the fascia from any possible direct water contact to prevent any wood rotting commonly found with homes not using a J Channel drip edge (This I researched from Youtube :). Mr. Choi then noticed my gutters had very small down spouts. My gutters were brand new as part of the remodeling done by seller. Mr. Choi insisted to replace our gutters with larger 6 inch gutters again at no extra charge. The new 6 inch gutters look amazing with our new Aged Copper Architectural Owens Corning shingles. I am still blown away with the experience I had with Dream Home Remodeling. I still can't believe they went from apologizing to me to me thanking Dream Home Remodeling over and over again with the experience and work they provided. What I've learned is that things can go wrong and they always do when it comes to contracting work. So choosing a company like Dream Home that will take accountability and work to make you happy is the most important trait to find (I forgot to mention earlier that they didn't charge me for any of the board replacements!). The company that you think gives you the best estimate may not be there for you when things go wrong or sour. It feels so good knowing that I did my research and got the best value from Dream Home Remodeling. I hope others that choose to use Dream Home Remodeling will experience the same giddy satisfaction I did, if they ar lucky enough to get on Dream Home?s roofing schedule. Thank you Mike! Thank you Mr. Choi! Thank you Dream Home Remodeling!

I had 17 windows installed. Two workers showed up on time. The job was completed in one day. I was pleased with the work. They cleaned up after the job. I believe I got a good price on triple pane windows. They appear to be good quality. There is a lifetime warranty on the windows and it is transferable. I would recommend using Dream Homes.

This was a fantastic experience, Mike Eaton one of the partners in this company was our main guy. A neighbor had work done and we saw the quality of the work and the product and decided it was time for us to do the same work. Mike came and gave his pitch, we enjoyed the demonstrations and explanations, my only complaint would be the length of them I must have said a half dozen times, "Give me the bottom line, I want the final cost for roof and windows". . .I think he is set in his pitch and sometimes doesn't like to get away from it. Superstition perhaps. But at the end of the day, the crews showed up on time, they performed the work in a clean and conscientious manner. We found only about four nails in our yard and no scraps or trash of any kind. When they came to install the "Dream Window" (its a triple pane and excellent), they were so clean and tidy, I was amazed. Everything was covered in the house and the crew was fast and quiet. I am very happy and have recommended them to many others. We will be using them when it comes time to put new siding on as well. I highly recommend Dream Home Remodeling.

After having a very bad experience with another roofing contractor (NuLook Home Design), I was happy to talk with Lenny the owner of Dream Home about getting a quote for a new roof. I was looking for a lifetime warranty which is transferable to the next home owner as well as very good quality product which would stand up to any potential wind and weather problems which might occur in Alexandria. After experiencing Derechos and hurricanes over the last 10 years I wanted shingles which would stand up to high winds. Owens Corning has a new technology called Sure Nail which has a higher warranty against wind damage. Also with their upscale shingles if there is any problem with the original contractor - Owens stands behind their warranty. I liked that idea. I had already learned (unfortunately the hard way) that roofing contractors sometime give the home owner misleading information regarding the size of your roof (which is then used to give a price quote) and so I already knew the dimensions of my roof. Roofers multiple length by width to get square footage and then divide by 100 to get the number of "squares" which is what they use to determine price - while adding 10% for waste. My roof is 34 x 46 = 1564 sq. ft. plus 10% = 1720 or 17-18 squares. The first contractor I spoke with (Nu Look) told me my roof was 25 squares, another told me it was 22 squares, Lenny told me it was 18 squares so this was an easy method to determine who was the honest businessman. We then talked about various other products Owens offered and their warranties including a vented ridge vent for the roof peak and drip edge protection for around the edge of the roof. With these extra products I got the Platinum package from Owens and Dream Home. I also learned than many roofing contractors charge extra if there is more than one layer of shingles on the old roof which have to be removed (I had 2 layers and Nu Look salesman insisted there was only one - in order to charge me extra for the added cost of removal) but Lenny with Dream Home said he would not charge extra. Also, if after removing the old shingles some of the roof panel of plywood sheathing need to be replaced - this can add to the price of your new roof as well. Some contractors charge $75/ panel (NuLook) while others offer 4 free panels and then charge extra for any additional panels needed. In my case I needed quit a few because when a contractor installed my gutter guards he installed metal on to wood which meant it rotted the wood so the entire edge of the whole roof required new panels. Lenny said he'd not charge me the normal price of $75, but instead $50 for each panel because it was so unexpected that this needed to be done and he had not seen this problem when he first examined my roof. What a great guy! We signed the contract after some price negotiation and waited to schedule the roofing following the arrival of the materials. This wait took about 4-6 weeks and we then scheduled the roof replacement. New roof day came and the weather had been predicted to be good unfortunately after about 3-4 hours of work thunderstorms approached. The work crew covered my roof entirely with tarps and went off to lunch hoping to work after the storm had passed. They returned, but explained they would have to return the next day to finish the job due to the current wet conditions. The crew returned early the next morning and completed the roof installation. They used a magnet to try and find all the roofing nails - which got about 98% of them. They also tried their best to keep all the old shingles and bad plywood in their truck and they were about 99% successful. The following day the crew arrived to replace all my gutters with new gutters, leaf guards and down spouts and completed all their work in a couple of hours. During the 3 days of installation Lenny stopped by several times and spoke with me about any concerns I had and took care of any issues with the crew. The only issue I had with the crew was that I had told them at the start to keep the attic fan roof cap because it belonged to the new attic fan they were going to install. Unfortunately I was sick the first day and didn't make sure they remembered and the cap ended up in the bottom of their truck. They did find it when they emptied the truck and returned and installed it the 3 rd day. In the interim they put a tarp over the fan and told me if they could not locate it or it was too damaged they would replace it free of charge. If this is the only problem you have with your roofers - you are indeed lucky! I was very happy with the results and several neighbors have already said how great it looks.
Description of Work: Installed a new roof on my home. Gave me a great price and did NOT ask for any money until the job was complete.

Mike Eaton, the partner of the firm gave us the quotes and was extremely professional and responsive throughout the work. we also got financing through him and had a six month deferred payment plan. We paid cash for the roofing and financed the rest. The crew both for roofing, siding and windows were extremely professional as well. The roofing was completed within a day. The siding and windows took 10 days but it was the coldest time of the season and even then the crew showed up everyday on time and worked extremely professionally all day and every day for 10 straight days to do the work. Since there was snow on the ground, both during roofing and siding and windows, they cleared whatever had fallen around the house and came back second time when the snow melted to pick little pieces of scrap and nails. They covered the work area inside the house to keep it as clean as possible and mopped the floors every day when they were done for the day. The work done is excellent, the quality of the materials is exceptional for the cost and we are extremely satisfied with the overall work done at our house.

The Good: I give them an "A" in quality of work. I went around my house and on my roof and it just looks well done. I'm very happy with the end product. HomeDreamRemodeling had a competitive price, unlike HomeDepot, which cost would have been almost double. A friend is using Sears and appear even less expensive than HomeDreamRemodeling. I can't speak for the quality of Sears roofers. I pointed out a couple of boards that I wanted replaced on the roof to the workers and they replaced them. They were not black but very soft. The insulation part went well. The guy showed up on time and completed the work with no issues from beginning to end. The Bad: Many unfulfilled promises. I was supposed to get a check list to check progress with the work being done. Never saw one. I was to be invited to go up to the roof prior to anything got cover. Never did. I invited myself once I realized they were starting to cover some areas. All nails from the old shingles were to come off and they didn't. Very few didn't but most did. Work was to be done in a single day and it didn't. Work started on Wednesday and completed on Friday. I called multiple times between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday to find out when the work was going to be completed but no one return my call to let me know. I found out the work was completed when I got home on Friday. I WANTED to be there to make sure things were done to MY satisfaction but I wasn't home since no one bother to tell me what the plan was. I think this is the main issue I have with the work done by the company. The crew wasn't informed of the type of roof they were going to be dealing with. Not my entire roof was singles. This is the main reason why the work wasn't completed the same day. I also kept telling the crew driving the large van to park on my driveway since it's large but he kept moving it to the street to somewhat block the street. I was annoyed by it since it bother the flow on my street. Clean was good for the most part since I only found a few nails near my house. One stucked deep in my sneakers. If I wasn't wearing sneakers, I would have had that nail deep on my foot. Since I wasn't there for clean up (because they didn't tell me when they were going to complete the work), I wasn't able to make sure they use the powerful magnets, the sales person advertised. This is the first time I get this type of work done so I don't know how my experience with Dream Home Remodeling compares to other companies. Overall, I'm satisfied with the work and I will use them again (despite the unfulfilled promises). If you can't stand dealing with people that don't follow to the letter their promises, this company might not good to deal with. Of course, are there companies that do? I don't know.

I am greatly impressed with the quality of the Owens Cornung roof, which has a fifty year warranty. Dream Home Remodeling providing outstanding service from sales to scheduling the installer. Weather delays were quickly rescheduled with the greatest courtesy and respect. The company also showed great flexibility with regard to competitive pricing that kept them ahead of their competitors' counter offers. Ultimately, this was a very positive experience and I have a great roof that will should be worry free beyond my ownership and a warranty that will transfer to the next owner -- no small selling point and stress free ownership. The initial consultation Mike had good suggestions for window styles and the estimator John made sure that with all these changes we planned to do to this termite damaged house, we did not do anything structurally stupid. The work exceeded my expectations. The 6 man window and door crew lead by Bruce did a fantastic job. All window trim had some damage and in several cases there was major structural damage due to termites and water to headers and frames. In those cases it required a complete tear out of the frame and header and replacing the wood. The extreme case of 1 bedroom, some of the floor joist was replaced. The carpentry work was awesome. (Workmanship fantastic and liberal use of wood and screws). The crew did not mind me taking pictures, asking questions or making comments. Since I was obsessed with making sure all rotted wood was removed, all gaps foamed and caulked, I was pleasantly surprised that they did this without any prodding. All windows except basement hoppers were triple pane low e glass Vinymax windows that met the energy star rating. Doors were super high quality Provia which also met energy star rating. All doors and windows were checked for proper operation and adjustments were made to get a few to close properly. Although there is a lifetime warrantee on all components it was best to get everything functional up front. All external wood was capped. They did a beautiful job with this including matching the pattern in the brickmold below it. The siding crew lead by James also did a high quality job. Do to the questionable existing wall insulation, we went with the insulated cedar ridge siding to increase the R value of the wall and decrease infiltration. Originally looking to reduce heat transfer, the siding looked great. They did a great job interfacing to the new windows and existing brick. PS Both window and siding crews did a few extra favors like removing the window AC and replacing some light fixtures that I supplied. The site was left thoroughly clean which I don't care about but most people do. My parents were happy with the ease in which they could open and close the windows and doors. Also initial checks with a hand held IR thermometer shows a big improvement over the existing leaky windows and doors.
Description of Work: Removed 45 individual windows and 4 doors and replaced with 21 windows, 4 doors, and 4 storm doors. Major carpentry was needed for some window openings including frames and headers that were rotted. In cases where windows were to be replaced with walls, those walls were framed out and completed with plywood sheathing, insulation, drywall and interior trim. All gaps were filled with foam and all capping was caulked. Removed outermost aluminum siding.and replaced with foam backer board and insulated siding. All exterior wood was capped.

It went great! The crew was very professional and thorough with their work. Before the crew arrived, the foreman contacted us, to make sure that the order was correct and what we wanted. During the installation, the foreman contacted us again, to make sure that everything was going according to the contract. Dream Home went over and above with their great work and craftsmanship. The house is over 50 years old, and looks like a brand new home! Great work! I would highly recommend this company for any home remodeling job.
Description of Work: Installed insulation siding, and shutters on our house in Jessup, Maryland.

I would give this provider 5 stars if they didn't insist that I sit through a 3 hour sales presentation. Our windows are great. The installers were great. Dream Homes has replaced our screen door even though it was our dog who ripped it. We also had an issue with our bay window and they came out and replaced the affected glass 6 years after it was installed.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows. In kitchen and bedroom put in bay windows, and a new sliding glass door to deck.

A salesman/appointment setter came to our door first to remind us that we had a hail storm less than a year ago and that it may have caused damage to our roof. He suggested we set up an appointment with their inspector so he could take a look at our roof, all the time letting us know that they work with our insurance. About a week later on the appointment day, the next guy gets up onto the roof and my husband climbed up there with him and the guy shows us that we did in fact have damage. So we discussed shingles and then placed a call to our insurance company to have our own insurance inspector come out and take a look. This guys was very helpful but quite a salesman personality. Another week or so later our own insurance inspector came out and he confirmed the damage but told us to wait to get the work done until the weather was warmer, which we did and Dream Home Restoration was ok with that as well. The day the actual roofers arrived, they tried their best to protect our plants and yard and were able to complete the work in one day and cleaned up afterwards. Shortly thereafter we got our bill, paid the remaining balance and are satisfied with the work that was done.

The two doors were installed by a group of 3 men first. They installed high quality vinyl doors that makes that area of the house look brand new. They made sure to waterproof the frame using the latest waterproofing material along with the usual caulking. The doors that were replaced were in extremely poor condition and had lost their seal. The new doors are sealed well against rain or wind. The siding was installed by a group of workers numbering some days as many as 5 or 6. They started each day at approximately 8:30 or 9:00 and worked until 5:30 to 6:30 each day stopping only for lunch. The siding is a composite material manufactured by Cedar Ridge and carries a lifetime warranty backed by the manufacturer as well as Dream Home. While the composite includes vinyl, the other materials combine to give it a weather proof characteristic not available in plain vinyl sidings. The composite is also much stronger than vinyl. Backed by an insulated foam the siding has an R factor of 4, while providing a significant noise reduction not available with other uninsulated siding. Our house is fairly large and contains a great deal of trim that required replacing. Vinyl coated sheets of aluminum were used for the trim and the installer used his artistic ability to add a touch of elegance that was absent in the original work. He also applied the trim in such a way as to guarantee a weatherproofing that we did not have before. The work was performed in a professional manner and our yard was thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis. We are very pleased with the material used and the work performed.
Description of Work: Installed two replacement sliding glass doors on the back of the house. Installed new siding on entire home.

A Dream Home door-to-door salesman stopped by our house on Thursday. He was very courteous and professional. We were interested in getting our siding replaced so set-up an appointment for 7PM the next evening. The salesman assured us that someone would call to confirm the time. He then called an unidentified person (presumbly Scheduler) who confirmed all the information...name, address, time, phone numbers, etc....and again informed us that someone would call to confirm the appointment. Although no one called on Friday to confirm, we nonetheless delayed our dinner plans to ensure we would be available at 7PM for the appointment. Needless to say, 7PM came and went and no Dream Home rep showed up. Since the salesman wrote the appointment date and time on the flier that he gave us, there should have been no confusion as to the specifics. At a minimum, Dream Home should have called to reschedule. We will not do business with this company again.

While I was definitely planning on replacing my roof I hadn't made any contacts about it yet when I was approached by Dream Home Remodeling. From the first appointment for the estimate through the installation and the final appointment to sign the financing paperwork everything went smoothly. Oddly enough I only got the one estimate from Dream Home because they offered me a fantastic financing deal that I couldn't turn down. Now my roof matches up, and even stands out above, many of my neighbors.

They were very hard workers and got the job done in a timely fashion. They were very professional and answered any kind of questions that I had. If you have questions about what's going on, they will explain it in words that normal people can understand.

They installed a quality product, although it has never given me the savings on heating/cooling that they promised (vinyl siding with styrofoam backing). I think this group has yet to show up on time. Instead of removing my gutters to install siding in an area around a 1 story garage roof, the crew cut the vinyl siding around the gutter, which allowed greater amounts of water to flow behind the siding. After repairing that section of siding, which took multiple appointments because without fail, they always missed the first appointment, I still had water leaking into the house in the area of a corner post. I tested with water and determined that the cornerpost/gutter area had to be the source. I pointed to several online siding/roofing recommendations for similar areas, which stated that such areas should be properly wrapped with housewrap. Since this damage occured after the 5 year labor warranty, and was smaller in scope than they were interested in conducting, the supervisor offered one of his workers to do a handyman job if I would call him, but Dreamhome refused to write up a job order. I have no confidence that this organization has quality in mind, they simply slap up siding without regard for customer satisfaction. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

The crew came to the house on the day and the time they were scheduled. They got right to work and kept at it until the job was complete (8:30 PM). They did a good job of cleaning up after the job was completed. They were friendly, courteous and were able to answer all my questions. They asked me to inspect their workmanship when they had finished and they took care all of the minor issues that I pointed out to them. I was completely satisfied with the quality of the installation.
