+ -1 moreestimate provided the day after i called. three workers in two trucks with shredder arrived at the scheduled time. they trimmed several dead branches on three trees and hauled away all debris. work completed in less than two hours. excellent service at a reasonable price. i would hire them again.

Half of it is leaning on my neighbor's fence, though fortunately in a location that will not destroy their home or endanger their children. The three was not a big oak or anything like that, but a medium sized ornamental tree. I received the following response from Dad's Tree Service's office via email" "Hello Mr. XX, Thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to look at any more damaged trees. You might try Tyson's Tree Service, as they are a much larger company and can take on additional work of that nature. Best regards, XXX, Secretary". At least I received a prompt response, though I was very disappointed, to say the least. I have since found another organization from Angie's list that at least is willing to set up a meeting with me to look over the required job and provide me with an estimate."

I have since found another organization from Angie's list that at least is willing to set up a meeting with me to look over the required job and provide me with an estimate, and I will rate them separately when the time comes.

+ -1 moreRon gave us a competitive estimate and knowledgeable advice about what work needed to be done. When the crew came to do the work, they completed each task carefully. When I asked them to trim a little more on the large holly, they did so. One of our trees is old and needed dead branches and overhanging limbs removed. The crew did a very good job on this by climbing along the stronger branches and reaching the areas that needed trimming . All debris was cleared away. I'm very pleased with the professional work done by this company from the first contact to completion of the job.

Description of Work: We had a very small project that needed professional help. Our neighbors removed a tree in their yard a few years ago. When we went to lay a patio, we found a mass of huge, unmovable tree roots in the area from the long gone tree. Despite being such a small job, Dad's came in and took care of it for us.

+ -1 moreI think they did a great job. I liked the representative that came out to walk through the job with me. He was very knowledgeable, very personable and very attentive. The experience of working through the job was good. I thought that the price point that they established for the work was very good. Their team came out a couple of weeks later to do the job, and they just did a very nice job. They were careful, and they cleaned up the property well. We actually needed to have the senior representative come out during the job because we wanted to have a couple of more things done, and he was timely. They just went ahead and did everything that we needed done, and did it with a lot of care and professionalism. We were quite pleased with them. I would use them again, and I would recommend them. Actually, I have recommended them already to some other people.
Description of Work: We used Dad's Tree Service for some tree removal and trimming done. They came and took out two trees and did some other significant tree limb trimming.

+ -1 moreI had used them a few years ago to trim the same tree and to remove another one and was happy with the service so I called them again. What I particularly like is that Ron comes out himself and discusses with you what needs to be done. He came out right away, the same day I called, but it took about a month before they could come out and do the work. I was willing to wait because I had used them before. They completed the work today.
Description of Work: They trimmed a tree in my backyard. Also cut down a bush.

+ -1 moreThey are really good. The first time I used them, it was years ago and they were just a small little company. There was a tree storm and they came out immediately and they did great work. They cleaned up and nobody would have even known that they were there. They’re very reliable. He had the same crew that he had when he was small. He doesn’t like it getting too large or anything. They just do good work. Their price is reasonable. They said that they would be here in 10 minutes and they were here. They’re very professional. I will use them again in the future.

+ -1 moreWe have used Dad's Tree Service for years, and as usual, it went very smoothly. We were ambivalent about taking the tree down. It had sustained some damage in a storm years ago and we were concerned about rot, and the possibility of the tree falling on our house or our neighbors' house. Ron, the owner of Dad's Tree Service, closely inspected the tree and thought it might have a few good years left, but also acknowledged that "you don't know which storm is the last one for that tree." He encouraged us to think about it for a day or so, as he didn't want to take a tree down that didn't need to be taken down. Ultimately, we decided to have the tree removed; the conversation with Ron was very helpful in deciding what the risks/benefits were of taking down the tree, or not. Ron's crew show up as scheduled, worked diligently and neatly, and left no mess behind. We have used Dad's Tree Service for at least the past ten years. Our experience with them is so consistently positive that we don't consider calling anyone else. We use his service for maintenance of our other trees as well.
Description of Work: Removed a large maple tree close to our house, and ground the stump.

Dad's called me within a day of my requesting a quote and came out a few days later to look at the work -- the estimator came back from his vacation early and called to see if he could come by a few days earlier than we had originally scheduled, which I really appreciated. The estimate was extremely reasonable for the work that needed done. We had some issues with scheduling, but that was more due to Hurricane Irene, my calendar and all the wet weather we had this autumn. On the day scheduled the crew arrived on time and got swiftly to work. They were done very quickly, did an awesome job in pruning up both trees that were in need of work, and cleaned up EVERYTHING around the work space, including a bunch of leaves that had fallen on my deck prior to the work even begining. The guys on the team were also very nice and friendly. I will definitely use Dad's again.

+ -1 moreAfter reviewing this company's AngiesList page, they were among the first companies that we contacted to remove a tree that was in a hazardous location near our house. Though they were prompt and courteous with their estimate for tree removal, their estimate was $2700 to remove the one silver maple tree. After more estimates, all of which were drastically lower than Dad's, we settled on another company that offered to do the exact same job, for less than half of the price that Dad's quoted us, and said other company provided us with stellar service. We would recommend that if you are considering using Dad's services, make sure to get other estimates, as they will quite likely be much more economical. Ps. I'm updating my review simply because the company seems to insist on not having any record about our house. I think I was more than fair with this company in describing what happened, knowing full well that Angie's list puts more weight on jobs that have been completed, but I also believe that unbiased, objective reviews are what sets Angie's list apart from other mediums. Nothing is wrong with admitting your shortfall, because no one is perfect.

+ -1 moreGot free estimate soon after contacting them. A few days later, team of about five guys came by and did job quickly and professionally. Team was courteous and professional. Cleaned up completely afterwards, so there was no evidence of tree limbs or branches on the lawn afterwards.
Description of Work: Used Dad's to thin out a couple of trees that were leaning over house and neighbor's property, as well as remove an evergreen tree in front yard that was damaged and dying. Ground stump of removed tree. Can't remember price now, but it seemed very reasonable.

When it became apparent the tree could not be saved, we hired Ron's company to remove the tree. His foreman, George, and workers were extremely conscientious in removing the very large tree without damage to any of the extensive garden area that surrounded the tree.

+ -1 morePretty much everything about this experience was positive. I called for an estimate, and they were able to come out the next day, without my needing to be there. We had some trouble with scheduling, but only because there was a big snowstorm on the original date, so obvioulsy nobody was going to be climbing any trees that day. Work was done quickly and efficiently. I had received an additional estimate of $4,200 from a competitor because they claimed that we would need a crane, additional crew, etc. People from Dad's didn't seem to think that was necessary (and their confidence in this convinced me that the crane was probably excessive. Due to the close proximity to the house, I was willing to spend a bit more if it meant lowering risk, but the guys at Dad's made me feel comfortable not spending so much extra). All in all, great stuff and will definitely use again if the need arises.

+ -1 moreWe had a large limb that came down as a result of the snow/ice storm - landing on my husband's truck. I called 3 Tree service companies from Angie's List with everyone responding by phone within a couple of hours but indicating that we were in line due to the high number of calls and would receive a follow-up as soon as possible. Dad's came by before noon, provided a quote and cut the limb enough to remove it from my husband's truck. They would not take any money until they returned a few days later to finish cutting up the limb, dressing the tree where the limb came off and removing the debris. I was so impressed with the level of customer service, obvious attention to detail and follow-through. We will definitely use this company in the future - especially to remove the tree that caused all of the problems to begin with!

+ -1 moreI got estimates from two highly rated Angie's List companies. Dad's Tree Service was by far the most affordable. The other estimate was twice as much as this one. They were extremely professional, very efficient, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Another thing that I appreciated and liked is that they didn't use cleats when trimming the trees. I would recommend this company to anyone.

We were very happy with the overall quality of the work and the cleanup thereafter. Dealing with the supervisor was easy and the work was accomodating to several small requests. I feel like we got a fair price. Would definately use them again.
