Affordable Pest LLC

We called Affordable Pest to assess our need for termite control. The technician was extremely thorough and knowledgeable about termites and treatment. We particularly liked their use of Termidor, which is a longer lasting termite treatment. They came on schedule and completed it with as little disturbance or damage to our property. We then contracted them for our quarterly pest control and rat abatement. They again arrived on time and did a thorough job.

They were punctual and did a great job. They called me before they came and I liked their services. I will continue to use their services in future.

They were punctual and they were helpful. We did not need them for anything else. The work went fine. I definitely recommend them. I would use them in the future.

The night after the trap was set large animal (in this case a racoon entered the trap) . The next day we called and the dispatcher they said they removal would not occur until after the time agreed (before 5 pm) . When we protested they set a agent to get the animal out earlier. The animal was in a trap meant for a much smaller animal animal and was in distress. After that service was as agreed upon . other than the delay and need to protest , Excellent service. Again the only concern is not with trapping agents who came to the house and provided the service but the process in which they management schedules the agents schedule. As a result I give them a B rating.

I found them on Angies Special List. I bought a package one for my father and one for myself and both of us are very pleased with their services. I just used it this year while my father used it last year. Miraculously they have some spray for C bugs and that really did the job and I was really impressed. The gentleman who came by was very professional, very thorough and he had good advice. I would use them in the future.

I had heard what sounded like a mouse trying to enter our home via an air duct in a downstairs room. Based on the data on Angie's List I selected Affordable Pest Control. They were very pleasant on the phone and scheduled an appt. for the 2nd business day with a 2 hour window. They asked if I wanted a call before they arrived and I did. The day of the visit Darryl (sp) called about 30 minutes before he was going to be at our home. He arrived within the time window. He asked questions about the situation and took notes. We then did an inspection around the outside of our home and in the garage checking for possible entry points. He then went into the basement and crawl space to complete the check. He made several recommendations and said I only needed a few traps placed around. He gave me a trap I could use immediately in the most likely area - baited it and placed it. He said they gave a free inspection and estimate but since this was a problem I could handle myself they did not charge me. He also gave me a few other ideas on ways to keep termites out of our home since we use a good deal of mulch. I thought he was very helpful and informative without trying to push a service. He told me to call him if the trap didn't solve the problem and they would look into a more extensive approach. The trap worked. It was an outstanding experience

They were very helpful. It was good. They confirmed that we did not have bed bugs. They did identify carpet beetles and we had that treated.

Started very well, but 2nd and third visits had a breakdown with scheduling. The person doing the work did a great job and was very knowledgable and professional, but the office help was at times clueless and not very helpful. There is a very noticable disconnect between what you tell the scheduler and what they do after they hang up the phone. They did not contact me when they cancelled an appointment due to snow, but the manager was very apologetic and promised to do better. Just recently, I scheduled a follow-up, and again I asked the scheduler to ask the exterminator to show up towards the end of the 2-hr window; 4-6:00 and to call the person specifically to see if that was OK. The scheduler said she would, but the day of the appointment, I was called at work by the exterminator at 3:00 to be at home by 4:00. I couldn't and asked to wait til 4:40, which he did. Later I found out he never got a call from the scheduler. Regardless of the scheduling issues, they delivered what they sold, and honor their warrenties. If you do business with them, just be very diligent during the scheduling process. Once you meet your exterminator, get their phone number so you can deal with them directly. I recommend them as a good company and would use them again.

We had a problem with wasps and also a problem with ants and they took care of that. We went ahead with the one year service because at the time we contracted them, we knew we could probably get them to take care of the wasps and do a walk-around as well as do the inspection. They probably came and did a free inspection first and then we did the service agreement. Most of the companies that have high ratings provide a lot of information so that you understand what's going on and what you might need to do better. They explained what they did and what the service agreement would cover. Since it's a new home we are moving into, that was one of the reasons we went with the service agreement. A general service call would probably be a hundred something. This seemed to be more economical because we foresee using them a couple more times. Everything went well with them and there were no issues. They took care of the wasps that were up in the attic and they took care of the ants that were at the door and in the kitchen. They also explained what chemicals they were using and what those chemicals did, why they were able to work the way they would work especially with the ants, what type of ants they were and what would not work with them. There is a species of ants that can basically have its members become queens. You can try and kill them off and you can have multiple colonies developing. He basically explained what that was and what the approach was. They included stuff that we can do so we actually don't need to call them so that was good. I know my wife certainly appreciated that. They were responsive but not that outstanding.

We complained about ant and spider problems, and the company sent an employee over within the same week. We were worried about the chemicals because we have numerous pets inside the house, but they reassured us that the chemicals were all safe for the pets. We have a guarantee for three months when they will return and spray once more (all included with the one price). As of right now we have not seen any spiders or ants!

On the first visit, the technician arrived on time, and provided knowledgeable answers to all my questions. He quickly assessed the situation, and explained the procedures to trap any squirrels and also to find the place of entry. Both technicians (Emmanuel and Chris) were polite, professional, knowledgeable, and prompt. They wore protective slippers on their shoes as to not track in dirt or snow from the outside. While only one squirrel was found, they came back every couple of days for two weeks to ensure that no other animals were in the attic. The repair to the place of entry in the attic was done well and promptly. The technicians indicated that I could contact the company for the next year should I hear more animals in the attic - - it is covered under the agreement. Based upon this experience, I would rate the company highly, and do business with them again.

They were outstanding and there is nothing I did not like about them. They were timely and did everything they said they were going to do. We just bought this place and we had a home inspection done, and the home inspector told us that he had seen evidence of creatures. So they discovered every place from where the rodents could get in and set traps and put up some bait. That is what they have done for us. They are supposed to come back in a week to see if they have caught anything and to assess the situation. They are going to close everything up - all the holes from the outside in - and maintain it. I don?t quite know what that means yet, but I am assuming that they will be coming out regularly to check on any other pests. I feel like they will be able to manage our problem. This guy made us feel comfortable. I will have to work with him for a while for me to get a better assessment of the situation, but right now everything they have done has been done well. I think I spent $75, but I had a $25 coupon. I signed up for their service, so it is $100 every quarter.

We have a yearly plan with them and they come 4 times a year to spray. We play $400 for the year. They will come back and spray if we need them. They came out right away and they were good. They put something in the house for the ants but it wouldn't hurt the cat. They also sprayed around the house, which was good. They came back 2 more times to do the spraying and they came 1 additional time because the ants went away but we still had them so they came back to rebait which pretty much took care of the ants. They are very timely. They come pretty quickly when we call them. Since they have been spraying we haven?t had any problems with bugs. We will probably renew our contract when it comes due in the spring.

The service was excellent. I called at least seven other highly rated companies. All I ever got was voice mail. I only got one call back and that was over a week later. When I called Affordable, a very pleasant person picked up on the second ring and scheduled me for the next day. The Inspector, Cristapher Borden, arrived on time and was totally professional. He was very informative did a thorough inspection. There is no doubt that I will call Affordable Pest Control for any future needs. Great Job!

Wonderfully! Stink bugs have been eliminated and no signs of a mouse

I called Affordable Pest as well as two other companies for estimates. Affordable was professional from the start and showed up the same day. What appealed to me was that rather than giving me the hard sell for an annual contract, they quoted the one-time service and the annual service. I chose the annual service since it was a much better cost than the others quoted. Aside from the cost, they're professionalism, both on the phoen and in person was stellar. Everything was explained and they took care to bait in areas where a small child could not get to. I would recommend them to anyone, and will use them in the future.

I am very satisfied with the service. They are highly recommended.

I informed Affordable that rescheduling for next week was not acceptable as the nighttime noises of the squirrel (or other rodent) was making it impossible to sleep. I had relied on the same-week appointment and did not call another animal removal company to try to schedule an earlier appointment. I also asked how it was possible that the scheduled technician did not have a ladder or trap on his truck when I had informed them of the problem being a squirrel or other animal in my attic days in advance of the appointment. Affordable's unsatisfactory response? It's on another technician's truck. This is a completely unacceptable way to do business. I could excuse this "mistake" if they had tried to schedule an emergency same-day appointment, but this appointment was scheduled days in advance! No offer or accommodation was made other than "we can get you rescheduled for some time next week." No thank you!

Overall great job, went throughout my home and addressed areas of concern I pointed out. I got a discount for being an Angies list member as well.

We spent $400 on that yearly plan. We decided to use them because they were on the list. Our initial interaction was by email and then they came out and the guy did a good job, so we just liked them. We had some past experiences that were not so great, but they have been helpful. We thought their pricing was competitive.

I originally called Affordable Pest because I suspected I might have had a rodent problem in the ceiling/wall of the second level of a 3-story townhome because of noises I was hearing. The first service person came out, laid out bait for rodents in the usual places they might find them, and looked around -- the technician saw some evidence (feces) that there had been mice near entry points in the kitchen at some point, but there was no evidence of infestation in the attic. The plan was to come back a few weeks later to check the bait to see if there was any current rodent activity. Indeed, they did return after a few weeks, and didn't see any evidence that mice were still there at all. In the meantime, I suggested to them that the real problem of the noise I had been hearing might have been a bird had entered a side vent in the townhouse, which seem to be confirmed by the presence of bird poop on the exterior siding around the vent. The Affordable Pest representative said that yes, this seemed like a more likely theory -- I must admit it kind of surprised/annoyed me that they hadn't at least considered this option on the initial visit -- I'm not a professional and I figured it out. Anyway, the bird had apparently left by then (perhaps it was only nesting inside during the spring), so there was no further action necessary. One of my issues about the service I received is that on that first inspection visit they seemed a bit too intent on selling the annual package for $440 (consisting of initial treatment for rodents/insects, and then visits every quarter after that for exterior pest control applications), which in retrospect I don't think I needed at all, especially since it turns out they didn't really the diagnose the problem I was having, and I didn't really have a rodent or insect problem anywyay. It seems like they should first diagnose whether you have a problem, and then consider selling you the annual package if it fits the situation. Anyway, the final step of what I was told was included in my $440 package was that they were to "plug up" all exterior holes/gaps where rodents might enter after getting rid of any animals that might be in the house, including installing little plastic screens over exterior vents. This part of the process ended up being problematic, and I had to call back at least three times to have them come out and do this work -- every time I called they promised they would come right out to do it, and then didn't follow through. Finally after numerous attempts they did install the screens, however there was no plugging up of seals/entry holes as had also been promised -- I just gave up on that ever being done. As a postscript, oince I began the contract, the first three months have gone by, and I was supposed to have my second exterior pest treatment done, but frankly I have no idea if they have actually come out to do it or not -- there has not been any communication to that effect, and it isn't something that I can 'see'. Finally, one other minor thing -- shortly after I paid $440 for the annual package, they offered an almost 1/2 off deal through Angie's list -- so I also feel like I overpaid, especially since I probably didn't really need the services to begin with. UPDATE: Nearly two years after my contract ended, I received threatening letters from a bill collector (incorrectly) claiming that I had not paid a bill from Affordable Pest for a service supposedly performed in 2010!!! I immediately sent a letter to both Affordable Pest and the bill collector informing them that I had NEVER received any such invoice, did not know what it was supposedly for, and asking them to cease and desist sending these notices immediately. The president of the company called me, and made vague references about how they found something in their database about a service they had performed two years prior, about how their records had been disorganized and they had hired this firm to follow up on things. I asked him to send me a copy of the actual invoice showing the alleged service, when it was performed, what it was, etc., which he promised to send. (As mentioned, I had NEVER received any bill in 2010, and didn't know what he was talking about). Following up on this call, I never actually received any further communication or documentation from Affordable Pest. However, I just received **another** inflammatory notice from the bill collector -- now claiming I owe the original charge PLUS a series of exorbitant penalty fees! Needless to say I am livid. I have serious questions about a company whose billing records are so screwed up that they (a) have to hire an outside firm to clean them up, (b) have the audacity to come to someone TWO YEARS AFTER THE FACT and claim a bill is owed when they can't provide any records of the service, and (c) they can't seem to respond professionally and in a timely fashion to a customer concern about this as they promised. I have a perfect credit history and although was assured that this would not affect anything, I am extremely annoyed that I have had to waste my time dealing with this. (It confirms my earlier impression that they don't run a competent or professional organization.)

Everything went fine. Treatment for pest was applied inside and outside the house. There was no evidence of termite damage but I did ask for an estimatet for treatment to prevent termites. If their quote fits my budget I would not hesitate to use this company.

When preparing to change sheets before bed last night, I noticed a littering of small, black bugs across my upstairs carpet. They were everywhere, and I freaked out. I immediately logged on to Angie's List to find a pest control service and called Affordable Pest well after hours: 8pm. Someone answered and hearing the freak-out in my voice, was able to reach a technician and schedule me for service first thing in the morning: 8am. At about a quarter to 8am, Emmanuel called to say he was one his way and would arrive in 20-30 min. He arrived just after 8:30am and walked around with a flashlight to spot the critters and identify what they were. He gave me an estimate for the treatment, and I told him to proceed whatever the cost. I even asked him to spray under the mattress box spring (which sits on my floor and not in a frame), which he did without any fuss. As he was finishing, I asked if he could also spray outside, just in case, and he said he'd already done so when he'd gone out to the truck to retrieve his cannister following my acceptance of the estimate. He was friendly, professional, and answered all my silly questions without a hint of annoyance or impatience. These guys seriously came through for this freaked-out homeowner. Awesome service.
