Coordination and customer service is terrible. I did not renew the contract because for three out of five scheduled appointments they did not show and did not call. I had to reach out to them to reschedule.

They initially placed on live trap baited with a can of sardines, and later placed another. They checked the traps each day, and when a raccoon was trapped they took it away. After that we had no more 'c*** problems, and they removed the traps after a couple weeks. The did what they said they would do - trap the raccoons. We do have one issue - extremely slow billing. The work was completed in mid July. We had not received an invoice by mid August. We had to call twice and email once and finally received an invoice for their work.

They had to make two visits to have the problem taken care of. It was frustrating as I had workers who couldn’t work, until these yellow jackets were terminated. The first thing which they did, didn’t work. They said that they would come in two days to check if it didn’t work. They didn’t come back in two days. Their first visit was on 22nd. When no body called and came, I called them. It took them couple of days more before somebody came on 31st. I understand that they wanted to try the more ecological way but they should have understood the need of getting the problem solved and come back soon. I wouldn’t use them in the future.

Not much else to say. very good service.

One of the first things they need todo is to inspect the exterior home for holes. He only wanted to set up traps. He was suppose to come this afternoon but he called me this morning saying he was coming so he got the times all messed up. Lastly, they called me by my first name when they don’t even know me, very impolite.

Had an appointment scheduled and no one showed or called. I was told that there was no appointment on the books for me. I'm not crazy, just tired of service providers accomplishing all their goals and none of their customers...

Service technician was professional and worked around areas which had not had been cleared of items (from summer collection of college dorm items throughout). I went around and asked about chemicals used inside and any dangers, etc (supposedly not harmful to humans and pets). Thus far no family members have reported any reactions, and currently I have no pets. Outside technician went around house and pointed out possible entry points, and sprayed all of them and in general entire perimeter. My house is 3000 SF (the max allowed for the Angies List Big Deal at $249). I do not have an immediate pest problem, but big hairy millipedes do appear on walls from time to time (get lots of reaction from family members) so thought would try this out. Day 2- so far so good.

I think that my husband found them on Angie's List but I am not sure. I don't know much about their pricing but I like them. They contact you when an appointment is due for scheduling. It is the same person that comes out each time. The quality is great.

Of the four companies I spoke with, Affordable's rates were the best (the rep even directed me to Angie's List to find their coupon) and their guarantee was the longest. The rep was professional and informative, the scheduling department was helpful and flexible, and the work done was relatively mess-free and successful.

I found 2 lizards in my house on separate occasions within the last three months and I wanted my house exterminated immediately. Affordable Pest was able to come out promptly on the date I preferred and they charged me a very reasonable price to spray around the exterior of my home. I signed up for a whole year of treatment and they will spray each quarter for $115.00 each quarter. They will even spray the interior for no extra charge if I request it. I know this is a very reasonable price as I got quotes from other companies. I haven't seen a lizard since so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I've had annual pest control service before from other companies. Affordable Pest has some serious scheduling problems, but Chris did a more thorough job than that of past services I've had. It was hard to get him here, but it was worth it because he did a great job. I called to schedule an appointment, and they scheduled me for the first available appointment, which was 2 weeks out. They gave a 2 hour window of time. About an hour into that time, Chris called saying he wouldn't be able to make it because he was overscheduled. He said he would come the next day at the same time. He didn't come the next day, and when I called the office, they said I wasn't on the schedule. They said Chris was willing to come at something like 9:00 that night because he messed up, and that if I didn't take that time, then the soonest they could fit me in was another week out. I already had plans that night, so I had no choice but to wait another week. Again, about an hour into the 2 hour window, they called and cancelled. This time it was the office calling, because Chris was out sick. They said they are still training a new guy, but Chris is currently the only technician covering our area. So, they tried to reschedule me another week out, I complained, and eventually got them to schedule the next morning. This time Chris actually came! He came an hour after the 2 hour window, but he came! 4th time is kind of a charm? Chris asked about my pest problems, and I had lots. My previous service was supposed to do 3 exterior sprays and had only done 2 over the year, and I had ants everywhere on the first floor. We also had spiders and silverfish in the basement, and other mystery bugs. He took care of them, and obviously was busy because people kept calling him, but he took the time to get everything done. It has been over a week, and I have seen no bugs--not a single ant.

The inspector arrived a few minutes early, was very professional and thorough in his examination. He discovered powder post beetle damage that our home inspector missed. He offered a written abatement estimate of $2500. We were resigned to spending that much money, but decided to have a second inspector out, to see if they discovered the same issue. Our second inspection came from another Angie's List provider with high ratings. We did not tell the second inspector about our first estimate, or the problems discovered. He too discovered the powder post beetle damage. His estimate came in at just under $500. Guess which company we decided to go with? I don't see how Affordable Pest Control can charge 5 times the going rate of a neighboring competitor, who is also on Angie's List. If you sort the results of a pest control search by positive ratings, the two companies are practically next to each other. I expect that anyone who is doing research for pest control on this site will have both companies at their property.

Affordable Pest continue to make appointments and not show up. Here's the second time they have not followed through with what they said they would do. The first time, they made it up to me by giving me back my quarterly fee. Then we started over. Chris showed up, looked at the traps he set in January. Put down additional pest control for ants, was supposed to come back on June 8 between 4 pm and 6 pm and never showed up, never called. I'm through! I'm discontinuing my service and never will do business with this company again!!!!!

Our experience was great. This was the 2nd time using Affordable pest. They were responsive, on time, thorough and successful! We haven't seen a spider or a cockroach or heard a mouse since their visit. They come back wtihin 60 days for free to spray again just to ensure their work is successful. I highly recommend them.

I have a year contract with them. The mosquito control is good. The bee control is okay. I haven't compared prices. So far the quality has been fine.

Chris B. from Affordable Pest came on the scheduled date & time to first inspect and then to treat the above mentioned problems. We purchased the annual plan (quarterly treatments w/ as-needed service between quarterly treatments) for $440 (annual fee.) $110 to be paid at the time of each quarterly treatment. I asked a million questions and followed Chris around. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He also wore shoe covers in the house before I could even ask him if he had any. I really appreciated that. Chris said that the secretary would be calling us to schedule a 2 wk follow-up appointment. We never received a call so I called and scheduled the follow-up appointment. A few days before the follow-up, I was called by the secretary to reschedule the appointment because Chris had to pick up additional shifts (I guess another technician was having an emergency). We rescheduled for 4 days later between 8-10. He didn't show up during this time frame so I called the secretary again. She said she had him scheduled for 10-noon although I'm certain we made the appointment for 8-10. No big deal. When he arrived he sprayed again (exterior & interior) in specific spots that I requested. Both times Chris came to the house he took his time with me answering all my questions and addressing all my concerns. I never felt like he was rushing or was bothered w/ all my questions or me following him around. I really enjoy working with Chris and hope that he's the technician we always get. I hope we do not run into further scheduling errors. 10/31/11 - UPDATED: Since my last post we have had Chris come to the house on several occasions. I think he's great and does a fantastic job. He's friendly and accommodating and explains everything to me. We've only encountered one other scheduling issue w/ the secretary - time slot she had written down wasn't the time slot I had written down, but it was worked out since I've been calling a few days ahead to confirm - no biggie. When calling ask for Chris to come! 8/10/12 - UPDATED: It's clear that the company does not have a good communication system set up. Secretaries do not have a firm grasp of conversations customers have with other secretaries. Scheduling is always a problem, wrong dates, wrong times, or showing up w/out a scheduled apt. The only thing keeping me w/ this company was our technician Chris B. Now that he's gone I'm thinking about leaving. Not placing blame on any of the secretaries but instead of faulty software programs, the owner should really invest in a decent scheduling software program where the secretaries can take "notes" on conversations so they all know what is going on w/ each customer. 7/2/13 - UPDATED: I have dropped the rating on this company due to several concerns... 1. the scheduling concerns already noted; 2. via the secretary we spoke to when setting up the appointment, we requested a drain fly solution be brought to the house when the technician came for the quarterly inspection (we were to pay for this product), then when I called to confirm the appointment a day or 2 in advance I also confirmed that the technician would have the solution, when the technician showed up for the appointment he did not have the solution and told us he would drop some off at the house... it never came; 3. the new technicians were not as overly friendly and accommodating as Chris B. was so we decided to no longer use this company. After having a new company come to the house and reviewing past services under Affordable Pest, we learned that our house was being sprayed inside and out with insecticides! At our very first appointment we asked for the natural spray (which is 100% safe to use) inside the house -- it's listed as Eco-Dust on our invoice and an "EcoSmart Technologies" logo is at the bottom of Affordable Pest's website. I was under the impression that this solution was used at every appointment. Looking over the invoices with the new company we see where TalStar was used inside and outside of the house at every appointment after the initial appointment. I "googled" dangers of TalStar and am mortified, especially since I was pregnant for two of the quarterly visits. Needless to say, we will never use this company again.

Everything has been great. Any time I have a problem they are more than willing to fix my issues. I plan on using this company again.

Called the company for some clarification. They said a technician for mosquitoes would explain everything to me at my mosquito appointment next week. I got no explanation for "it's all the same stuff anyway." on 5/31- the technician was a no show, after I stayed home all day.. Contacted the company who said he was scheduled for the NEXT day - a date I couldn't possibly have agreed to given my outside schedule. No apologies. My annual service plan expires in August. I will not be renewing. Disorganized scheduling, kids recruited for summer jobs, then called "technicians" and sent out not knowing what they are doing, and worse, what they are using. And so much for the annual "service plan" I have spiders everywhere.

They were not at all judgemental about the fact that we had not had a termite inspection in thirteen years. There was NO pressure to buy anything when I requested the free termite inspection. I really appreciated the technician's extra effort in pointing out potential trouble spots where old water damage might allow insects a way into the house. Scheduling was easy via email and all staff were prompt, thorough and professional. I recommend the company with no reservations.

A trapper was supposed to come on Friday of last week and Monday. He never came and I was charged for the service. They do not communicate with each other. I do not want to waste my time talking to them or listening to their promises and their excuses.

Chris of Affordable came to our house and inspected during the purchase of a town house. He offered us service during that time which was to cover monthly treatments. There was evidence of rodents and he set traps, with the promise of returning to see if he caught anything. He was supposed to return in two weeks. This person never returned. At the time he came to inspect, we agreed to start their annual service which was priced at $100.00 every quarter. This was supposed to cover monthly treatments, however, we never received service. We received several calls from affordable, inquiring about when we would like service, which I complained that I was not receiving any service. Then a note was left on my door last week that indicated some treatment had been done; and even though my significant other was at home, no one ever discussed treatment with us. We don't even know what the treatment was supposed to be for. We are very disgusted with this company. They have very poor customer service. They have not followed through with anything that they have promised. And what is prompting me to write this note is they had the nerve to withdraw funds from my account without giving me any service. I am very upset.

Here's the story: I contacted Affordable Pest in early May to have them come and eliminate the ants I had been encountering in my home this spring. I spoke to the young woman who answered the phone, Cassandra, and very clearly made an appoinment for the morning of May 19 to have an extreminator come out for a visit. I return home after work on May 18, and there is a voice mail from Cassandra saying there was a 'schedule conflict' and an exterminator was NOT available for the appointment I made 2 weeks earlier, but they would like to send out someone on the afternoon of the 18th instead. I did not receive this message until 5:30 PM, and Cassandra wanted to re-schedule the visit for 1-3 PM, BEFORE I had even received the message!! How ludicrous is that?? The next day when I called Cassandra, she claimed that my original appointment had been for the 18th, DESPITE the fact that I had a voice mail from her one day before acknowledging that my appointment had originally been for the 19th!! So in Affordable Pest you have a company that unilaterally CANCELS an appointment the day before it is scheduled, and then LIES about when the initial appointment was in the first place.

I had mouse sign in both of my upstairs bathrooms. After trying some things on my own, including a humane trap loaded with peanut butter toast to no avail, I call Affordable Pest. It was easy to get an appointment for the next week with a 2 hour window for a free inspection. The technician not only figured out where the mice were getting in, he assessed that I didn't have an infestation, and pointed out the things I could do to seal off their gateway into the house on my own. He also brought some poison packs from his truck, placed them under each sink just in case, and sealed up some holes on the outside of the house during a walkaround. He was just calm, professional, and very generous with it all. I actually pressed a tip on him because I couldn't believe I was getting all this expertise and reassurance for free! I hope I don't have any future problems, but I would definitely use them, and the technican Chris, who handles Maryland region for Affordable pest, again.

He came out and set mousetraps for me, but he never charged anything. He advised that I needed to get some stoop work done in the front because that is where the mice were coming in from. I have not heard from him again, but he was excellent, especially with the fact that he made initial contact and came out here. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.
