+ -1 moreConsidering what I pay for quarterly service from another provider for ongoing pest management, I guess I was just expecting a more thorough inspection and more guidance on improvements that could help protect my home. The service felt rushed and inadequate. Overall I just did not see the value. Stuck with the middle ground on most of the review because it was all just that - very vanilla. It left me feeling like I would just get the bare minimum service if I were to continue with a service plan. By contrast, the current company I use for ongoing service really seemed to take charge and look at my property and its unique requirements.

+ -1 moreIt was an initial treatment and intended as a precursor to a quarterly commitment. The treatment went a long way to knocking down our pest population. But not wanting a long term contract, I paid attention to what chemicals were used and bought the same formulation from a vendor online. Months later and my pests are still gone. Though I did not sign a contract for this problem, I would use affordable pest for any other new problems.

Before I purchased the big deal I called them to see if they could come out on the day that I wanted and they could and then I purchased the big deal. They gave me a window, and the person who came out the morning showed very promptly at the beginning of the window. He was very fast and gave me a lot of advises as a new homeowner about how I should be approaching pest control over the life of my home. So, it was very helpful.

He was extremely pleasant, and I enjoyed the conversation while he was walking through the house spraying. He set up a 2 week follow up appointment just to make sure our problem was solved. Two weeks later, even though the ants were gone, he showed up on time and inspected the grounds. I would definitely use this company again!

They communicate well and make a point of calling me if it is raining or looks like rain, so I don't waste a service; then they are out the next dry day to complete the service. Noticeable reduction in the number of mosquitos in my yard. It is actually comfortable, except for flies, to be outside at anytime.

+ -1 moreWe purchased a big deal for the service, and it went very well. We talked to them and told them that we would recommend them. We had the service done twice as it said on the big deal. The gentleman who did the work, explained everything to my husband, and told him about the product they were using. My husband also spoke to them and told them that their tech was very good. Their price was fair. We talked to them on the phone a number of times, because it would rain, and we would have to change.

+ -1 moreWe didn't get rid of all the mosquitoes. It's a hard thing to do and that's what we contracted for. They came on time and they were professional. I think it's just a hard thing to say you're going to get rid of somebody's mosquitoes. So we would not do that again but I can't downgrade the provider. I mean, I don't think it was anything they did. There were no more charges beyond the big deal amount. They came out pretty quickly after we purchased the big deal because it was a service that had to be done over a five treatment period. So they did it like once a month, I think. I hate to downgrade them because they did what they said they were going to do but it did not get rid of the mosquitoes. Again, in the early part of the summer it seemed to be helping but in August when everybody had mosquito problems we did too. I'm not unhappy with the provider, it just didn't work in our yard.
Description of Work: We purchased a big deal for Affordable Pest. It was $295 for mosquito control treatments. They came and sprayed all over.

+ -1 moreWe had very good service. We had them spray for insects around the house and it lasts a couple of months and then we have problems again but that was last year and we haven’t had any problems this year. The insects were so bad last year and they came back. The price was excellent.

+ -1 moreOK. Towards the end of the summer, the Mosquitos became more of a problem. The provider was not always very responsive to my requests for more spraying. Also, even when I've given a very specific request to call me the day before they come, they do not always do so.

+ -1 moreThey were fine. They put me on a recurring service without my knowledge so I had to call and cancel after several months after they had done that. Overall their service is great. Their administration seems to be a little iffy and I did signed back up with them for their recurring natural mosquito spray and they're supposed to come every three weeks. The last time they came was the middle of June and it's now August. Their service is good and the providers were okay.
Description of Work: They took care of an problem that we were having and they did a great job. They also took care of some other issues we're having in the backyard.

+ -1 moreIt turned out not so good. We've been using a different provider this year and the mosquitos are actually much less. I don't think they did a good job; they only sprayed the perimeter of the yard, whereas the company we are using now sprayed the entire yard. Also we had some problems with scheduling. They were supposed to come and then they didn't and we had to call and ask why. We also had them to do some inside pest service, we had a mouse showed up and we just were not very thrilled with their service. One guy that came was really super nice, but another guy that came another time really made my husband pretty angry. Then there were something about us owing them $20. They came and sprayed the outside of our house, but they didn't make an appointment and they didn't come in and do the inside stuff. So we said hey, wait a minute, we are not going to pay for the quarterly pest service until you make an appointment and tell us when you're coming and come inside the house and do what you are supposed to do. They said OK and then something happened and they didn't come again, so we just called up and said we don't want anything to do with them. They called my husband and told him they were going to turn him in for collection for $20. They didn't show up some of the times they were supposed to. We are not going to use them again. They actually contacted my husband about something and he just said no.

+ -1 moreWe were not very happy with them. It was supposed to be 2 treatments and they only came once. They haven't shown up for the second treatment. We still have mosquitoes flying around. They said they would show up 2 weeks later and they never showed up. The treatment they did didn't work.

+ -1 moreI used them last year and I decided to use them again this year. They charge $75 per treatment and there are six treatments. I would recommend them. I have never had a problem with them. If they spray and I still have a problem with them, I just call them and they will come back out and re-spray. I will continue to use them.

+ -1 moresee above. NOTE: I not only paid some money, cannot remember at this time, but I also had paid for voucher which the representative did not want to honor. This is why I put $00.00, not because I did not pay anything. Date is also approximate. I chose to forget the entire episode. It was a most unsatisfying experience, and I will not recommend them. I was not going to bother sending a negative report, but have done so by constantly being asked by Angies List to do so. I felt clearly that the voucher was for the inspection, which he did not do because he said that since it was condemned he would not go in. Fine, but to then just walk once around the exterior, and then begin to demand that I had to have the extended services, I feel if it was not required by the County, then I was not going to sign up for it. The boxes would have been lost and demolished by the demolition team by the following month. I clearly agreed to the boxes on the exterior only, (he took no other inspection), and whatever was required to return and check them, to write the certification. I do not remember the charges or the voucher amount. But it was clearly for an inspection at the very least or I would not have taken the voucher out. My rating stands, no matter what they may reply. TRUE I should have more carefully read my contract but after an hour of standing there discussing the issue, I thought I got his agreement, and understanding--------- as we did specify a dollar amount on the spot, and I paid him by check an agreed additional amount over and above the voucher on site for what I felt we agreed on, that day, reiterating that I did not want any ongoing inspection, which he already knew he had put in the contract. No further discussion was made by him saying "oh, by the way, I hear what you are saying about what the County did not require, but I am going to add that into the contract as well". I had an appointment at the County and was already late, so I signed it and rushed off. It was about two weeks later that they finally installed the boxes. They came back and ascertained there was no rodent problem, and that was all I needed. I did, finally, get someone of authority to agree that I was not responsible for any ongoing charges and in fact I was not charged or harassed by anyone to pay anything further. In further fairness, they did check the boxes and write a certification.
Description of Work: I called Affordable Pest LLC to come to my property to do an inspection and have a letter written for purposes of sending to Arlington County re rodent inspection prior to demolition of the property. I had previously ordered one of their vouchers but at this late time do not remember exactly the exclusions, however my recollection is that the inspection included rodent boxes, but can't guarantee I am correct. I told their representative who met me at the property what I wanted and he then stated to me that I would have to have boxes placed on the property and that he would come back and inspect them, which was fine, that was perfectly okay as obviously that would be the only way they could ascertain whether there were rodents on the property. At the time, the house was condemned due to a storm that had taken the roof off and the house was going to be demolished for future construction. He insisted that the County would require new rodent boxes for a year. I explained to him that was ridiculous if there was no house, and that the County told me that was not required and told him I would not agree to the continuing service, as it was not required or necessary. The only thing was an initial service, placing the boxes for up to a short period of time, and if there were rodents, then treat for them. After that, then they could Certify. He did the contract, and I signed it, stupidly thinking he had agreed. That afternoon, I realized he had added the ongoing service for a longer period of time, I do not remember at this writing if it was a year, (at, I think, $60 per month, not sure) but it was an extended period of time. I called the office and explained this. I told them I refused to have ongoing service, only the service required by the County of Arlington to accomplish the writing of the letter certifying it had been inspected and there were or were not rodents. Obviously also, they were not expected to write a letter stating there were no rodents if they found them. I had discussed with the representative that if there were rodents, I would agree at that time for extermination, but that it was not necessary to have such an extended time as the house was not even going to be there, it was going to be demolished the following month. . He went on and on again that the County required the ongoing boxes for this extended time, basically indicating if they did not find rodents, they might sometime in the future. I again told him that was not true. I offered to call the Inspector at the COunty for him to verify this. He was not interested in my doing so. I had clearly verified exactly what was needed prior to meeting anyone. Bottom line, he added the ongoing extermination to the contract and I was very upset this had been done. I had to make several calls to the company to get this taken care of. I had given them the voucher and after some grumbling by the representative, he finally agreed to accept that as partial payment and I wrote him a check for some additional amount he wanted (been a long time and I do not remember how much). Not saying I agreed with him re the additional amount, but I was by that time in a hurry, and just wanted the job done.
