On 8/4/16, Robert came to my house and provided an estimate for 3 different options, including an option to spray on a radiant barrier on the under belly of the roof and exterior wall, and installing an attic tent. This appeared to be the best solution given my desire to continue using the attic for storage. A few days later I received a card in the mail, with a personal hand written note thanking me for the opportunity to do business. This company appeared genuinely interested in completing the work, and so I contacted Adelphia to complete the necessary paperwork and start the job. On 8/10 Tim arrived, completed the paperwork, and a date was set of 8/18 to complete the job. I was assured that they would only need a couple of hours to do the job, and that the items stored in the attic would not need to be disturbed in order to finish the project. The total price to complete the work was estimated at $1,721. I later learned that this was more than double the competition, which offered to do the same amount of work for approximately $850. However, I was locked into a contract and proceeded with the work. I provided a deposit of $574, to be charged to my credit card, and was to pay $1,147 at the completion of the job. I received a receipt on 8/13 indicating the deposit had been paid and the charge to my credit card had been approved. On 8/16, I contacted Tim to discuss possibly delaying the work due to other circumstances that was going to cause a financial difficulty. I was reminded that the contract was already signed and that Adelphia would not be flexible with the contract; however, Tim stated that there were some various financing options available. In addition, I had stated that I needed the crew to be at my house first thing in the morning on 8/18, as I had a meeting at noon and needed the work done before that time. Tim promised to call me back within 1 hour to discuss specific financing options and confirm the exact start time for the work. I never received that call back and made a call again the following morning (8/17) to confirm the start time. Tim again promised to call me back within 30 minutes, and failed to follow-up with me. I finally called the office directly 5 hours later, and the office was able to confirm the crew would be there at 8am. On 8/18, the crew arrived early. The crew was very professional, and completed the work in about 45 minute’s time. I was shocked at how quickly the work was completed, so I entered the attic myself to inspect the work. I was equally as shocked at the poor quality of the work completed. Upon inspection, I found that the attic tent had not been installed, the under belly of the roof had only been sprayed about ¾ of the way with radiant barrier, and the interior wall – which is a shared wall and not exposed to heat from the outside – had been sprayed unnecessarily. I approached the crew about this, and they indicated they did not receive an order for an attic tent, and that they could not completely spray the underbelly of the roof because of the storage boxes being in the way. This contradicts the information that had been provided during the initial estimate provided by Tim. The crew promised that someone named George would call me to discuss correcting this issue. I had not heard from George all day and finally contacted Tim at the end of the work day to discuss my frustrations. Tim was surprised to hear of the problems and promised to call me “right back” to schedule a future date to complete the work. Unfortunately, Tim again did not follow through with his promise. FIVE DAYS later (on 8/23) I finally received a call back from Tim, who indicated that the work could be completed on 9/1, 9/2, or 9/3. None of these days worked with my work schedule and I told Tim I would consider my options and reach back out to him. At this point I was extremely frustrated with the very poor customer service, the broken promises, and the poor workmanship. I reached back out to Tim on 8/25 to discuss these frustrations with the poor service and to let them know that I did not want them to complete the work. I did not trust them to complete the work. I offered to pay for the supplies and work that had been completed and stated that I would hire a different company to finish the project. Tim became argumentative during the conversation, further highlighting the poor customer service I received. On 8/27 I received a voicemail from Tim stating that Adelphia would not allow me to be released from the contractual obligations, and that I MUST allow Adelphia to come and complete the work. Displeased with the position Adelphia took, I reached out to my attorney to discuss legal solutions. On 8/31 I called Tim back, stated that I was pursuing legal options, but had offered to give Adelphia one final opportunity to complete the job, if they were willing to discount the work. Tim spoke to his management and they agreed to reduce the contact amount by $400. The earliest they could complete the work was two weeks away, so a follow-up appointment was scheduled to complete the work on 9/16. I was instructed to move the storage items (again, in contradiction to what we had previously agreed) and that the attic tent would be installed at that time. On 9/16, the crew arrived in the morning and was again professional. They took approximately 30 minutes to complete the work. I went to inspect the attic, and found that the remainder of the underbelly had been sprayed. However, the attic tent had again not been installed. The crew stated that an attic tent was not included in the work order and they were unaware of the need to install it. They further stated that either Tim or George would arrive later in the day to install the attic tent, which was not going to be possible because I had a flight to catch that afternoon. I immediately called Tim, and a THIRD appointment was set for 9/19 to finish the job. One of the managers came on 9/19, installed the attic tent, apologized for the inconvenience, and the job was finally completed – 1 month after it had been scheduled to start. Tim had promised early in the process that the financing department would contact me after the job was completed to arrange for the payment of the remainder of the services. The financing department did not reach out to me at all, and on 9/27 Dave, a new employee brought on to help oversee operations and sales, contacted me to inquire on how satisfied I was with Adelphia. After a lengthy discussion, he promised that someone would reach out to me the following day to arrange financing. Surprisingly, I found someone who was able to live up to that commitment, as Tim had contacted me on 9/28 to discuss financing options. I received an invoice which detailed the down payment that had been previously received and showed the outstanding balance. The invoice appeared correct. I was slow to pay the final invoice, and on 11/4 Tim had contacted me to check on the status of payment. He indicated at that time that I owed a payment for the FULL amount, $1,321 (full contract price less the $400 discount). He indicated that the down payment had been rejected when they attempted to process the credit card. This seemed odd since I had paid the down payment more than two months before this, and had received a receipt indicating the charge was approved. I told Tim I would look into the matter and have a check sent to them. On 11/7 I submitted a payment in the amount of $774 for the remaining balance according to the most recent invoice I received. I received a follow-up call on 11/15 from Tim. He indicated Adelphia had received the payment, but that it was not the correct amount and an additional amount of $547 was outstanding. I explained that I had a receipt showing an approved down payment, at which point Tim admitted that Adelphia had charged the wrong credit card and referred me to the last 4 numbers on the credit card receipt. Sure enough, the credit card on the receipt did not match any of the credit cards I have, and the name on the receipt was also misspelled. Tim indicated that Adelphia attempted to charge my card for the down payment, and the payment was declined. That would be accurate, because I had cancelled that card in October and had a new card issued due to the card number being compromised. I voiced my frustration with their mistake in billing, and told Tim I would submit payment for the remaining balance upon receipt of a new invoice. I was asked if I would pay by credit card, which I declined to do given their billing mishap. In summary, I would strongly recommend anyone considering using Adelphia Exteriors to reconsider, and take their business elsewhere. While they were quick and friendly to complete an estimate and get a contract locked in, the service was very poor after the contract was signed. With the broken promises, overpriced services, poor customer service, incomplete work, work performed in error, and errors in the billing process, it is hard to find anything about this experience that was worthwhile. I now have a radiant barrier and attic tent installed, but by the time the work was completed 4 weeks after it started, the summer had already cooled down and the work proved to be meaningless for this year. In addition, I now have a wall that is coated with a barrier that doesn’t need it, and memories of nothing but complete frustration in trying to have a simple 2 hour job completed. I will never again utilize Adelphia Exteriors for any work that I may need.
Description of Work: Adelphia Exteriors was contacted on 8/3/16 to receive a quote for attic work I needed. I had been experiencing high levels of heat during the summer months, and wanted to explore solutions in reducing the amount of heat entering my house through the attic. I use my attic for storage space, so blowing in fiberglass insulation was not practical.

Fine. I actually hired them and they did a good job at adding insulation. BUT I thought the initial appointment was a bit oversold on Angie's list.
Description of Work: I thought I was paying for something more than a guy just coming and looking around. I thought they would do "an air flow analysis." Reality is I paid them to come look at my insulation levels and give me an estimate. Any company would have done this for free to get business.

Scheduling was easy and George came out and gave us his recommendation on how to best remove the existing old dirty insulation, and options for replacing with new insulation in our 1950s built home. George was great and seemed very knowledgeable. He sent his estimates by email and his replies to my follow-up questions were easy to understand. We got proposals from three companies and didn't choose to go with Adelphia Exteriors on this project, but I would not hesitate to contact them for another project in the future.

ballpark pricing given at the time of estimate was higher than I had budgeted for. I mentioned as much at the time to begin the process of negotiating down to something more reasonable. at the end of the estimate visit I asked for a formal quote in writing and never received one. I reminded them about a week later, got an excuse and then still never received my formal quote. I ended up getting the same work done for about $2000 less at Fifth Element. To Angie's List credit, they refunded me the $49 since the contractor did not even provide a quote to do the work.

Saw the great reviews, so we called and explained that we wanted waterproof insulation in our garage a 17' x 12' area. Prior to coming to our house for estimate measurements, George called and asked if we were willing to pay the minimum fee of $600 for the work, since the room was so small, we said yes. This set us up to think that we would be looking at a around $1,000 for the job. George came out to do the measurements for the estimate. He was very professional, friendly, polite, etc. We received a quote, a day or two later, for the spray-in closed cell foam of two walls and the attic over top of the garage (about 700 cubic ft) for over $7,000. We were disappointed on several counts: 1) we see the professional DIY kits for this space run less than $2,000; 2) no alternate plan was suggested for a less costly way to accomplish a waterproof barrier with insulation (waterproof insulation with 6 mill plastic) because who would pay $7,000 to insulate a small one car garage with only two walls that need insulation; 3) we don't understand why we were asked if we were willing to pay a minimal job fee of $600.

We were very pleased with the assessment. An obviously experienced and knowledgeable professional looked over the house and let us know that we had very little damage and would require only minor handyman type repairs. He was very honest and advised us that we another 10-15 years worth of life in our siding. What a relief!

We originally purchased a coupon for an attic insulation inspection and wound up contracting Adelphia Exteriors for a full siding / insulation upgrade and painting for our master bedroom / loft as well. Tim came out and did a thorough inspection, walking us through everything that was needed and quoting a fair price while working with us on financing. Throughout the process, Vicki was amazing to work with to coordinate the installation team and you definitely got the family touch from Tim, George and their father Nick who oversaw the painting part of the project. Our new siding is great and is working well with a previous window upgrade to make our three-level townhouse more efficient with air temperature consistency which is a challenge in a single-zone vertical home such as ours. The three levels now stay within a few degrees of each other and come winter I am confident we'll be a lot more comfortable as well. This company definitely knows what they're doing and I would work with them again on future projects. Thanks!

I expected to get an independent and professional inspection and assessment of the roof on my home. Instead, it seems the "big deal" is little more than a bait and switch designed to get the homeowner to contract with them for a $11,000-$13,000 new roof. Had I wanted an estimate on getting a new roof, many companies would have done that for free. After two weeks, I did not get the inspection report I paid for, and only have a very suspect proposal to spend thousands of dollars to completely replace the roof. An honest and professional company would have inspected the roof, provided an written report and then offered their services, if I needed them -- not do a hard sell on a new roof. As it is, I don't trust their assessment and have the impression they're using the "big deal" to drum up business.
Description of Work: The provider was supposed to do an inspection and provide a report on the condition of the roof. But I did not get a report. Instead, I received an estimate to replace the roof.

I had a leak in my kitchen ceiling and after a few inspections by roofing specialists, I was advised my roof was perfect and perhaps it was a moisture leak due to the fact that more insulation was needed in my attic. I found Adelphia exteriors on Angie's List and contacted them for an estimate. George Koutsis arrived at my home about a month before the installation date in order to inspect my small attic and advise the type and amount of insulation needed. In addition to being a personable young man, he certainly knew his company and product well and was able to advise what was needed. After talking to him and his showing me the type of insulation that they would use, I was sold and felt no need for another estimate. The technicians arrived promptly on the installation day and called a short time before they were to arrive to advise of their arrival time. They were very efficient and laid down plastic to protect floor and furniture. They did not leave any type of mess for me to clean up. They were able to blow the insulation through a window through the room and into the attic. Very efficient. Would not hesitate to contact them in the future for whatever services I need that they might provide. What a great way to run a business!!!

The work on the window trim went very well and was well done. On the insulation, there were some issues with scheduling and crew showing up and some miscommunication between person who did estimate and crew. Apparently, there had a new person working, so things didn't go as smoothly as they should have. That said, they were concerned with getting things right and making me happy. They were apologetic for the problems and discounted the price for the inconvenience. For me, I understand that things happen and go wrong. What is most important to me is how the company handles the situation and they did great with that. Also, the work was high quality and they cleaned up afterwards.
