This is the most unprofessional service business I have ever come across. They will lie, they lack basic knowledge on HVAC systems where they actually believe that a mismatched system is acceptable.... It is not ever recommended to have different sized condenser and evaporator! They are also extremely rude, lazy and they will charge you for nothing, a bunch of crooks.

Promised to provide 1 hour notice but did not do so. I called 3 times to confirm, including the morning of appointment. They Then tried to charge me because tech allegedly came to the home and nobody was there. American home shield warranty company and I called the company, including emergency line for 30 min and only got voicemail. I'm convinced this is not a real company!! Ripoff artists who charge money for performing zero work

The technician showed up and within 5 minutes he diagnosed a faulty compressor on our AC unit. He said we needed to get it replaced and it would take two weeks to get the parts then we would be able to schedule the repair. Even with the home warranty it was going to cost me $1700 for the refridgerant (the compressor itself was covered under the Trane warranty). My intuiton told me to get a second opinion, so i did. The second company came out and took some time to make a diagnosis and did a better job of testing. It was a faulty contactor that needed replaced. The second guy fixed our AC unit right away for about $200. Xtreme would have replaced our compressor and that still wouldnt have fixed the problem.

We have a home service contract. Our ac was not working and the service company engaged Xtreme they sent Sean out for the repair Aftera cursory exam ( less then 5 min) Sean advised that we had two options one $1200 longer term and the other $400 when I pointed out we had a home warranty he said oh and then excused himself went to his vehicle retrieved Freon and supposeably fixed our system by refilling Sean then said its working. It was not. Another call to Xtreme who wanted to resend Sean. I declined They indicated that their “ guru “ Bobby wouldn’t be available until Saturday between 2-6 Without another option and with reluctance ( because it was 4 days out) we agreed. Later received a text that it was scheduled for 4-8. It is now 10am and a no show. This company is shoddy and unreliable. Would never recommend

Description of Work: Terrible company. Home warranty company sent them out to fix a HVAC issue. It took them 3 times coming out to finally diagnosis the problem. They are not punctual and do not call to update you on progress. Having another company come out to back check for fraud. The components they claim are broken were repaired by them the same company less than a year ago.

It was a special. He did a great job. He called me right away after I made the request online, he called me right back and made the appointment. It was an instance where I was not going to be here when he goes here but I got home before he left and he showed me what he has done. He did a very thorough job and he did not try to up sell and I appreciate that. I have been very happy with Angie’s List people in general, they do great service.

There was a warning message on the thermostat. They supposed to come out on the 11th of December and didn't show but thanks to Angie's List, we were aware that has been problem in the past. A guy named Bobby came on the 12th and did a thorough job of troubleshooting everything, found the capacitor, replaced it and everything is working great. He was not very prompt but kept calling when he was delayed. He was friendly and professional.
Description of Work: They did troubleshooting and replaced a burned out capacitor on the thermostat.

This was my first claim after buying the American Home Shield home warranty. Within a day after contacting the AHS to file a claim, the Xtreme dispatcher contacted me to schedule an appointment for the technician to come out the next day. I was given a confirmation # and told the technician will call before coming out. The next day, I worked at home to wait for the technician but he never showed up w/o a call. The next morning, I called the Xtreme back and the dispatcher checked their record and apologized that our house did not show up in their schedule for that day for some reason. So much for the confirmation # and everything. However, because of their mistake, they said they will send the technician out the same day. I asked them to have the technician call before coming so I can work at the office and go home to meet him only when he is on his way. This time, it worked out fine; he came around 4pm, looked at the unit, and found the problem to be burnt out relay wires. He promptly replaced with new part from his car and about 20 minutes later, our a/c unit is working again. I paid him $75 in check, which was our AHS deductible. I am glad all worked out at the end but next time if this happens again, I will be calling back the Xtreme dispatcher on the day of scheduled service to confirm that our house is on their schedule before I spend any time going home to waiti for the technician.

For the most part, wonderful. ..they worked us in due to emergency (disabled people within the home) and were very quick ... my only problem came a few weeks later when I got a bill - for services already paid for!!!! Although I would use them in the future, I will NEVER again use cash to pay them....yes, I have the receipt...that's not the point.

We were returning from Germany to our home in Northern Virginia when we were informed by our contractor renovating the basement that one of the a/c units was not working. We contacted our home warranty company and requested a service contract to have the problem fixed before we returned as we have a 5 year old autistic child. The weather was hot and was predicted to remain hot through out the week we would be arriving. Our warranty company set up the service with Xtreme and emailed with their information to set up a convenient time which we passed on to our contractor since they were working in the house and we were still out of the country. The first appointment was missed by the Xtreme technician due to overbooking appointments and he didn't have time to get the scheduled appointment at our house but didn't call to cancel or reschedule. My contractor call the office to find this information out and then scheduled a new appointment time with the assurance that the tech would call when he was actually on the way to the house since the appointment was a four hour window not a specific time of day. During this four hour window our contractor left to pick up materials and when he returned found a notice that a Xtreme technician had come and left already. When he called the Xtreme office personnel stated that the techncian forgot to call ahead but had another appointment booked at the same time so didn't stay until someone arrived. So another appointment was scheduled for after our family was to arrive back in the country. At the next appointment again a four hour window of time not a specific time of day the technican called to say he was at another house nearby but would be about 2 hours late getting to our house. It was already getting dark by the time he arrived so he did a quick temporary fix stated he needed to order a part from the Xtreme warehouse and would return tomorrow to install the part. That night the second a/c unit stopped working. So we called Xtreme to report that the second a/c unit was now not working and were informed that even when the part arrived to fix the first a/c unit there were only two qualified technicians and they were both already booked with appointments so we would have to wait until the following week. When we mentioned that the technician told us he would return that day to install the part we were told "that's not how it works, technicians don't make the schedule". That night the temporary fix of the first unit stopped working and now the entire house was sweltering and the weather was not predicted to get cooler anytime soon. Calling the 24 hours hotline lead to voicemail that informed us that our call would be returned during business hours on the next business day. The Xtreme tech returned on the following Tuesday twenty one days after our warranty company first sent the service contract to Xtreme and replaced the non-working parts of both a/c units.

We lost our A/C our of the blue in July right during the heat wave. Apparently, the start up capacitor took a hit from some power surges two weeks before in the big storm that came through. We call Robert B. Payne, who installed our big Trane unit for us, and they were not able to come out for a week! We called several other places, and all of them were unable to come out for at least three to four days. All of these companies asked first if we had a service contract with them. When we said no, you could tell that we became the last priority for them, no matter how hot it was outside. Finally, I found Xtreme Heating and Air on Angie's List. Xtreme told me they could come out that day. I about fell over in shock and gratitude. The technician was several hours late due to the demand for service during that time frame. I did not hold it against him at all. He also arrived in an unmarked truck and in his own clothes. I was worried initially, but he soon proved his knowledge! It just goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover. He was fast, he had me up and running with glorious cool air in thirty minutes, and he was courteous to deal with. I am grateful beyond all measure, and I will be using Xtreme Heating and Air for future service work.

The first gentleman from Xtreme who looked at the unit, came out with his teenage son. He told me the compressor was fried and told me the best thing I could do would be to replace the unit which would of cost $4-5,000. I told him that we didn't have to replace the unit, it just needed to be fixed. It took 3 weeks to replace the compressor, which in the middle of July going into August, is a very hot time of the year. I called them and they said they were still waiting on the part. When they finally came out with the compressor, the lady from the office said the guy would be out and told me there would be a $100 disposal fee for the old one. I did my research and called the Sponsylvania recycling department and they said they would take it for free. The service technician then came out; he did great work and recharged everything and never said anything about the disposal fee. When he was packing up he told me it would cost me $100. I told him I wasn't going to pay the fee so he got his boss on the phone; he began cussing at me and told his technician not to give me a receipt. He also told me he would not provide a warranty on the compressor they installed or back it up. I told him that I have an agreement through AHS and pay the $75 for the contractor to come out and they do the work. I thought the first guy was very unprofessional, especially when he brought his son on the job. I felt like the owner was cheating me out of the $100; I should not have to pay $100 for something that is free.

I had a bad experience with them. I found out after I got the repair done that it was not covered by my home warranty. They were referred to me by the warranty company and they came out and fixed the problem and determined that the problem was something that the warranty company would not cover and so I had to pay out of my own pocket. Then my air conditioning was not working again and I called my warranty company and they sent out a different company. I explained the work that had been done and what I had paid and that repairman told me that I should ask Xtreme to come out for what I had paid them and have them fix it. I called them and they told me that there was nothing wrong with my air conditioning, and that it was a new problem, and not the one that they fixed.. They told me that it was not leaking coolant and that it needed a new fan motor or something and they replaced that, and a few weeks later, it wasn't working again. I called the warranty company and they sent out a different vendor this time and I got the same reaction from them saying that I had been overcharged and that I needed to call Xtreme back to get it fixed. I called them and asked them to make it right and they came out a couple of times, and both times they were asking me to pay money again. The guy came out again today and he basically said that he stood by his price and was not going to do anything more unless I paid, and I just told him to leave. The warranty company and the other repair companies that came out all told me that I had paid too much in the first place, and that it was about twice how much I should have actually paid. I thought that I had been overcharged and they did not think so and we parted ways. My air conditioner is still not working.

While any bad review is unwanted by xtreme heating and air .Member hired us to repalcace the condensor coil on her out door unit.Our original recomendation was to replace the whole a/c system to include the indoor coil and out side a/c portion .The reasons for this recomendation were as follows.first and fore most the cost to repair her existing system.The existing system is a builder quality unit and as well all know most home builders give you the most inexpensive system they can find in order to reduce construction cost .Most of these types of systems do not go past 5 years wich is the manufactures warranty on this product had expired.The large delay is was do to the manufacture not having a replacement coil in stock and this must be a exact replacement. The replacement part was installed and the air was restored .The following summer the a/c went down again at mrs bailys home and we went out to check our work .All repairs come with a two year warranty. On this trip the indoor coil was leaking NOT THE PART WE INSTALLED.We did not charge for the visit nor did we charge for a additional leak search. Member feels due to us making a small profit of 300.00 on the repair of her out door unit we should have given her a free indoor coil as compensation for us charging to repair her out door unit.I agian explained to her this was the exact reason we should have replaced her whole system that would eliminate future issues.As we here dont want any unhappy customers we realize we wont be able to please everyone but we try.We stand behind any system we sell and install as well as any repair we make but we can not predict the future and if we new what was going to break next on your system and when it was going to break we would be in the drive way with your parts before you call lol. or predicting lottery numbers instead. I did offer to credit all money spent on the condensor coil to be applied towards a new system. the customer declined and did not pay us a dime for the diagnostic work done on the second visit .

Horrible beyond belief. Originally, this issue started out as a heating issue and it was determined that our compressor had grounded out, which was making out heat run on auxiliary heat and resulting in $400 plus electric bills. We requested through our Home Warranty company, (2-10, another nightmare described in another report), to have the compressor replaced. This was back in the first week of April. Competition Heating and Air Conditioning INC received the work order, it took them over a week to contact us. That was the one and only time the company contacted us. Then, it ended up taking over two months to even attempt to do any work on the system, ultimately one of their technicians "jury-rigged" our system so that we at least had A/C and said they would be back to finish the job. That was at least three weeks ago, haven't heard from them since then and now the A/C is out once again. To put things in perspective, this is Virginia we are talking about and we have already spent well over two or three weeks with the temperature over 90 degrees in the house, thanks to Competition's total lack of customer service. During this entire experience, Competition has never once attempted to contact us even when requested to by our warranty company. It took them over three weeks just to get around to ordering the compressor, only to order the wrong one. I would strongly recommend that you avoid this company like the plague, and if your warranty company wants to use them I would not accept their service and demand a different company perform the work. Also, if your home warranty company is 2-10, you should look for my report on them.

Well we dont like any unsatisfied customers .However we do feel things should be put into prospective. !. xtreme heating and air has no record of this customer in our data base. 2 after reading this negative report it seems that you are not a contact customer of xtreme heating and air or any other HVAC firm. 3. we do work with home warranty companies and let me say that they do not purchase compressors from us or anyone local.The buy the product and then ship it to the service provider wich is a very bad thing as the service tech who diagnosed your failure is not part of the warranty process.Its done by someone in a differant state thats ordering parts out of a generic parts book ( ex. auto zone for hvac) not buying from the manufacture as OEM parts are tripple the cost but almost always fit and run the first time .The customer alys has the option to take a cash out and upgrade their system wich is why we work with home warranty.Most consumers will realize the age and product type of their system and how long they intend to stay in thier home and pay the differance to replace the system instead of a bad aid .
