The overall experience with CJR was outstanding. The price is a little higher compared to some other inspectors, but they perform a very thorough job and don't skip any steps. For my 1200 sq ft house the inspection took right around 3 hours. They send two certified inspectors to both go over the house, and communicate any issues between each other for verification. In addition to the original inspection, CJR does not charge any reinspection fee for as long as you are in the home, making this easily worth its value. The inspectors were very professional arriving 30 minutes early and answering any questions that were asked. They don't mind being followed around and being asked questions. Before you leave the premises they will go over the entire inspection with you and provide a printed report for you on the spot. They then email an electronic copy for you and your realtor shortly after. I cannot recommend their service enough.

CJR showed up a few minutes early, and greeted me when I arrived. I had two inspectors, John and Jay, and they were wonderful. They explained everything I asked questions about, listened to my concerns and inspected those same items and made sure I was satisfied with our findings. As an example, I was concerned with a 28 year old wood front porch, although it looked in great condition, a few slats and areas were "spongy" feeling when stepped upon. As Jay and I were up top looking at the porch, I was surprised to hear knocking from underneath, John had went to the underside of the porch and we went through every square foot top and bottom sides to make sure there was no wood rot. This may seem like a small deal, but this is a 10 x 52 foot wrap around porch ! One of the best aspects of the inspection was the immediate writeup and pictures. After every item they inspected they sat down and typed up the issues and uploaded the pictures while everything was fresh in their mind. These items were then printed out and put into a binder for the end of inspection review. During the inspection, if there were any specific area of concern, they used each other's expertise/experience to validate or nullify them. I was also quite impressed that John walked every foot of board fencing and checked every slat and post to provide a thorough inspection of the wood. At the end of the inspection, Jay went through every item, good and bad, and discussed timelines of needed repairs. They made it known that they worked for me, right then and there, as well as, in the future if I have any questions, concerns, or need to make sure any work performed by contractors is being done correctly. I truly felt no stone was left unturned and I definately recieved my money's worth. Especially the binder that was given to me at the end !

Our Realtor set up the home inspection on the house we are purchasing. We didn't know anything about them until we arrived at the house that morning. There were 2 inspectors, instead of just one, which is great because they can cover more ground and back each other up if they are unsure about anything. Jay and John were so friendly and thorough. They were prompt and respectful. They were able to give us a binder with the completed report (including a picture that they took of our little family in front of the house). They were very professional but also put us at ease with their light, friendly manner. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who is buying a home.

Chuck was able to fit us in even though we had a short close date. He gave several options and we made it work. Jay and John beat me there and were polite enough to not open the gate and drive in fearing someone was living there. As they were unpacking we talked and I got to know them a little. I was there alone, on an acreage surrounded with trees, but felt comfortable. My realtor showed up a 1/2 hour later and got to know them quickly too. They explained how they would work, each inspecting a portion and then writing it up and when they were all done, they would switch sections. I was to ask questions at any time. They used the laptop and phones to create a report in a binder complete with photos. Before they left I had the report/binder which had been gone over with me and the report had already been emailed to us and the realtor. My questions were mainly for future renovations. It was nice to toss ideas around with someone who is knowledgable and looking out for me. They took extra time to hunt the well down and explain options for the structural damage. We even discussed how the interior layout could have walls knocked down for a Master bath, walk-in closet and huge bedroom area and a new floor added. They also suggested the order repairs should be done in. At the end they finally took the check, they wouldn't when they 1st got there. They also said that I could call if I wanted them to look at any work being done. Very sincere and professional.

This company is exceptional, I cannot say enough about the quality of service. I called Chuck from CJR on Friday for an inspection on Saturday and showed up the next day. The company always sends out two inspectors, and they work together and then seperately to ensure they miss nothing. The first thing that happenned was the well did not work, and they worked 2 hours (for no charge) to get it working so they could do the inspection. This house was a foreclosure and we were concerned that it had been left vacant. Chuck and Ben spent another 4 hours documenting everything. All of us there kept following them around asking questions and they were patient and explained everything, the whats and whys. They produced a color 40+ page report. It included pitcures and explanations. We spent about 30 minutes going over the major problems in the house. The whole family was there (6 people) and we had lots of questions, which he took the time to answer. He also included tips, things to watch out for that were out of the ordinary and not usually included in the inspection. I had planned on additional inspections (water, radon, mold, septic) that we realized were not needed due to the condition of the house. Another company could have just included them since orginally I said I wanted them, but Chuck and CJR are very honest, open and really working for the homeowner. In the end, we did not buy the house, and I don't know if another company would have caught all the things they did. I would HIGHLY recommend them to everyone and anyone and would glad provide a reference. I will use them when I find the next house.By the way the work Northern VA, down to Caroline County and up to Dulles. EXCEPTIONAL

They were very thorough and very good. They send two guys out. They spent five hours looking for things so they went over every detail in the home. Their inspection was above and beyond and we would highly recommend them.
