 + -1 moreWe got 3 other price quotes from area garage door companies in Shenandoah Cty/Winchester to replace our original 1940s wooden garage barn doors that were peeling and cracking very bad, as well as being offcenter from so many years of the building settling. Jim was reasonably priced in the range with the others quoted but was able to do the installation a lot sooner than others. He did a great job on installation.
Description of Work: Installed two new triple insulated garage doors, opener mechanisms, tracks, molding trim, etc. and remote entry pad w/openers in our garage/barn (bigger than standard residential single garage doors). He also installed a triple insulated custom garage door, opener mechanism, and remote entry pad on another outbuilding we have.

 + -1 moreI'm in a new area and don't know the local service providers. So, I went to Angie's list to look for prospective providers. There was nobody close by. Shenandoah Doors was at the top of the search list. Unfortunately, they were 50 miles away. I called and Mr. Heron (owner) responded that afternoon to assess the situation. We made an appointment for him to return the next afternoon and do the work. He arrived early and completed the work in 4 hours. Quality was excellent and the door & opener work great! I am very pleased with both quality of the work and the responsiveness.
Description of Work: Recently purchased residence. Both garage door opener and old, wooden door were in poor condition. Door opener gears stripped, temporarily trapping vehicle in garage. I got it open manually and then called provider to replace both opener and door.

 + -1 moreExisting doors were long overdue for replacement. worn pulleys, rusted rails, chipped glass, and rough/noisy opening. Dominion Doors provided 2nd lowest quote (by $50) but was the most confident during the appraisal visit. Other vendors expressed concern regarding zero clearance rails and mounting options but Jim seemed confident the replacement would not be an issue. Communicated well by email and phone before and during the process, was on time, and finished the job start to finish in 3 hours. Hauled away old doors and parts and cleaned up after himself. Overall would recommend him.
Description of Work: Replaced two 9x7 wood garage doors with new metal triple layer doors. Replaced zero clearance rails and installed gaskets on exterior of the door frame.

When he first installed the new door ... he noticed some very minor dents on the inside of 2 of the door panels that I didn't even pick-up on. He pointed them out and told me that he would come out and replace the 2 panels with new ones. The next weekend James came out with the new panels and installed them. I am extremely satisfied with the service I received from Dominion Door and James Heron. I would (and have) recommend them to others for all your garage door needs.
Description of Work: Replacement of a double wide garage door and track. Adjust motor.

 + -1 moreThe repairman from Dominion Doors came to fix a broken spring on the right side of the garage door opener. After further inspection of the garage door opener the repairman pointed out the drive gears were worn out and recommended a new garage door opener. He showed me how the gears were wobbling back and forth. He did a nice clean job ran all new wiring and programmed all the remote controls before he left.
Description of Work: The first time I used this company I needed the rubber seal at the bottom of the door replaced, After three calls to other companies no one would come out to replace it. I called the forth company Dominion Doors and they responded that day. The door is getting old so the repairman didn't have the right seal for my door on his truck. He had a guy going to Richmond to pick up some parts he called him and told him to get the seal. The next day he returned and replaced the seal. He made two trips to my house and charged me approximately $100.00. He also check the tension on the chain of the garage door opener lubed the tracks and checked the overall operation of the garage door this was two years ago. On Friday August 29, 2011 the right spring broke on the garage door. I called Dominion Doors approximately 2 PM Saturday and asked if I could schedule an appointment to have the broken spring replaced and was told they could come out that day. They responded within two hours and replace the spring. The garage door opener was loud and the repairman pointed out that the gears were worn out and they could be replaced but then he wasn't sure how long the motor would last and recomended a new garage door opener. He replaced the motor and programed all the remote controls. He did a very good job cleaned up the mess and was very professional.
