The plan was for him to pressure test our lines, which he did and found that they were all not holding pressure, meaning there were leaks in the existing lines. He worked to identify the leaks and then replaced the parts of the lines that were damaged. He found that some of the area that was damaged would require new lines to be ran either outside the house, which we were hoping to avoid for aesthetic purposes. He explained that he intended to go through the chimney and up one side, then into the fireplace on the second floor, He also explained that he would run the one in the basement down the back side of the fireplace. It all sounded fine to me (what do I know?). He left a mess in and around the den in the basement, which is currently unfinished, but there was brick dust every where around the fireplace. What he did in the basement looked OK, but as time has passed, the part he "fixed" in the back of the fireplace has started to literally burn away. It looks bad and unsafe. He used some sort of concrete adhesive and got it all over the logs - didn't even try to clean that up! In the formal living room, the gas logs were installed, but were not centered in the firebox properly, so it looks funny. He crafted some sort of metal box to cover something up in the corner, probably where it comes through the firebox? There was also something all over the marble that we had to clean and scrub to remove. One of the most upsetting parts of this was that he and his assistant left hand prints on our walls and trim throughout the house as well as on the mantel and fireplace. One of them also used one of the bathrooms and there was chewing tobacco and tobacco juice all over the toilet (really gross). He claimed to purchase a great deal of supplies for the job, but I couldn't really see where it was all used. I called him back to show me where it was and explained what I wanted (left him a voicemail). He called me back and had to leave me a voicemail because I was working at the time and just told me to call him. The more I thought about it, the less I wanted him back in the house.
Description of Work: We hired A&D Services, Mr. Don Work, to install gas logs for us. We had purchased the logs and just needed them installed. He installed the logs, but charged a great deal and left a mess. The logs do work, but we can't use one set (in the basement) because of how he set it up. We actually will have to hire someone else to come back and fix what he didn't do right.
