Tree climbing was necessary to do my job. This was important as truck access was not possible. Not all Tree Service Company's offer this type of service. Staff were professional and polite. The company and staff strive to provide a satsfactory job. More than satisfied with the service and price.
Description of Work: Cut down one wind damaged tree. Cut broken branches on other trees. Tree cut up into smaller pieces and neatly stacked for use in an outside fire pit. Extra work in cutting old tree stumps was also done without additional charge. Removed tree branch debri from yard.

He was supposed to have removed a tree stump, but he never did. He never came back to be paid. I called his office and told them that he didn't leave an invoice. He had told us what the price would be. I thought when he left our premises he was going to come back and do the tree stump and then we were going to pay him. He never returned. When I called his office, his secretary or receptionist said that she didn't have any information on it whatsoever. She was being newly trained and she said some of the records were all mixed up. I told her what was done and I said that we needed to pay him. She told me where to send the money and so I did. He never came back and did the tree stump. I deducted what I figured the tree stump would be worth because he didn't come back and do it. That was the agreement. That was the first time we had him out. He came out when he said he would. I would have him out again in the future, but I would make it clear that whatever he said was going to be done would be done.
Description of Work: Stanley Tree Service pruned our large maple tree in the back.

Upon arriving at our home, the owner told my husband that he lost business because of my review on Angie's List. When I heard this I was outraged. I went back and read my remarks on Angie's List (a site for the CONSUMER) and could not understand how my remarks had lost him any business. I rated him an "A" overall and the only areas where he received anything besides an "A" were in Responsiveness and Punctuality where I gave him a "B." In my description I told about how great they were and how we'd use them again but I did tell why I graded them a "B" in punctuality and responsiveness, because they left the tree they brought down (an 80' White Oak) in my back yard for two weeks even though I had called several times. When we needed tree work done this year I was excited that we already had a tree service that we liked, Stanley Tree Service, and it wasn't until my husband told me the owner's remarks and I saw his quote that I changed my mind. This owner wanted $980 to prune six (small) trees and remove one medium sized tree. I was sick. It wasn't until we got other estimates that we realized that we were either being punished for my remarks left on Angie's List or that Mr. Stanley just didn't want our business. I was saddened by the whole situation. All I was trying to do was tell the truth, was I supposed to "leave out" the fact that he left a down tree in my backyard for two weeks? I would have thought that Mr. Stanley would have taken my remarks as constructive criticism and not left downed trees in future customer's backyards for that long but instead he lashed out at us in the form of a high estimate. Luckily, we found another company to perform the work we needed for a reasonable cost ($500 less).
Description of Work: Originally he was called to quote some pruning and tree removal.

Ed and his crew came out to bring down our 90ft White Oak tree that had been struck by lightning, while here they also removed a few other trees as well. I was very pleased with their service and my only complaint was that it took a couple trips a couple weeks apart to remove the tree from our yard once it had been dropped.

I tried to get Stanley to come out for two months to remove brush and trees. they came out one day and but down a limb, said they would return in two days to finish everything. They never returned. The pricing was average and the work they did do was great. If you have thousands of dollars of work for them to do they will probably com out, but the residential stuff doesn't seem to interest them.
Description of Work: They cut one limb down and never came back, even though they made several promises over two months.

Response from STANLEY TREE SERVICE
What this customer failed to mention is that we made two separate attempts to complete this work and was unable to do so because the work area was blocked by a neighbors car and was unable to get our equipment into the work site. Because I was unable to complete this job, I removed the hazardous limb that threatened to destroy his privacy fence and did not charge the customer a penny. I sent no invoice, asked for no money, or expected any. I provided this man a free service... I saved his fence.

Ed Stanley and his crew did outstanding work. He was running a little bit late when he came out to do my estimate, but he fit me in the day after I called. Every other company in Clarksville told me they wouldn't be able to even look at my trees until the following week. Ed's estimate was not the cheapest, and I was skeptical at first, but he explained that his minimum is $225 per job was necessary because he provides healthcare and workman's comp to his employees (which I think is admirable especially in today's economy where so many employers are scaling back). Ed gave me an estimate of $300 and said he would come back within the next week to take care of the limbs because they didn't put my property or anyone at immediate risk. I assume he would have worked me in sooner if there was danger to anything because he was obviously concerned about safety. Ed actually came back only 2 days later to take care of the work. His crew was very efficient and impressively safety concious. There were times during the work where Ed would come down from the tree to retrieve extra safety gear and he was extremely careful about the placement of the folding arm of the cherry-picker so as not to accidently damage anything on my property. As he cut down lumbs, he had a crew with him who chipped and removed the debris (and also cleaned up all the remaining chips from the road). While doing the work, Ed identified other damaged limbs that were not part of the original contract. He asked for my permission to remove them and didn't charge anything extra even though he could have. When the team finished, they cleaned up well enough that I wouldn't ahve even known they were there if I hadn't seen them (no lawn damage, rubber marks on my driveway, or wood chips in the road). His team's attention to detail and professionalism was definitely worth the money.
Description of Work: Ed Stanley removed damaged and dead limbs from my trees, disposed of the debris, and gave me advice on further care for my trees. This was a smaller job (no tree or stump removal, only dead and broken limbs).
