When getting an estimate I was explicit in explaining the quality of preparation I wanted prior to painting. I did not want the end product to have the "alligator skin" appearance that many paint jobs do. I wanted the wood to be properly stripped and painted. Mr. Dalton was very agreeable to this, stating it would be no problem. However, when the work was complete it was obvious that my initial requirements were ignored. He yes'ed me to death, then did whatever he wanted to do. When approached with this issue, he claimed that it would cost six times the price to do what I was asking. His quoted price was more than twice that of my lowest bidder. I selected Mr. Dalton because he claimed he would perform the preparation work to the standard I was asking for. The lowest bidder was reluctant to perform the work to this standard. The estimate provided included "sanding" but did not specify to what extent. In the future I will require a more detailed estimate. Additionally, workers did not put down any kind of catch or drop cloth when doing the prep work. Paint chips were left everywhere around my house.

They did an excellent job. A small crew was able to complete the work in one day. Mr. Dalton constantly dropped in himself to supervise during the day. He is a real perfectionist and his sharp eyes don't miss a single detail! The house looks absolutely beautiful, and it was left immaculate. Several years earlier, he had painted the exterior of the house, and had shown the same professionalism and strong work ethic. I recommend him highly.
