I bought an existing home which this product was installed. I could not stand the taste or smell of the water. So I called the company and had them change out the filtering system (charcoal I believe). This cost me $450.00. After giving it some time to work(2 months). There was no change to taste or smell of the water. I turned the system off and the water is fine. So I set an appointment to which they no showed. No call or anything for communication. Its probably because I told them I want a reimbursement of 80%. So I waited 30 miniutes based on the early arrival time to confirm our appointment by text. No response. This is the way we communicated prior and by phone. Which was for 9am. I finally texted again at 5:30 pm and got a response. The manager told me his technician had arrived and nobody was home. Surprisingly, no security cameras pick the technician up on my patio or driveway or road. Not to mention no phone call either. When i texted again at 5:30pm, the manager James was not friendly and offered no resolution. Spend your money somewhere else.

After client reset appointment 2 times we arrived at his home on his schedule to find he wasn't home. Can't respond to his complaint because we have no access. Considering the way we've been abused verbally we decline to respond further. We are not dogs.

For the past three years, it's gone very well. Only regret is not finding Life Time sooner. I had not gotten treatment sooner because of quotes for $2000 plus and the water quality/grains were ok. We only needed to treat acid, and other companies wouldn't work with that.
Description of Work: This provider installed a water treatment in our home 3 years ago. We had great water except.for being highly acidic eating away at our copper pipes. Some companies want to sell you the whole $2000 deal and try to convince you that you need everything. Life Time tested our water and recommended only treating the acid and offered a tank and installed it for $900. One a year they call and come empty/refill tank. As he predicted, it is no longer necessary to run each faucet 5 minutes to get copper taste out before using or drinking. The copper the water is gone; we had assumed copper would always be there with copper pipes; not so.

I am a retired Military Officer, and senior executive in government. I'm well educated and have over 30 years in leadership and management of highly complex setting. I know something about honesty, character, integrity, and doing the right thing. With that, I tell you to Beware of this company. Beware of Jim Melfa. Do not believe everything Jim says, or how he says it. Protect yourselves. Take copious notes, save emails, texts, and maintain all your invoices. More importantly, read ALL your invoices top to bottom......every detail matters if you end up hiring his services. It has been our opinion and personal experience of him during the past 3 years, that he attempts to talk softly, and with intellectual knowledge of his industry, but uses this persona to conceal his dishonesty. This is what he truly does best. Approximately a year ago, my wife, who paid the majority of Jim's invoices, took a hard look at charges, and noticed what appeared to be gross inconsistencies. After a thorough review, and audit of a few dozen invoices, we discovered the obvious. He had been padding his invoices. The discrepancies became ridiculous in nature. So many inconsistencies, and variation in charges. Nothing's was standardized, or charged the same. After product and supply research, we also discovered he had gouged us in nearly each and every fee, while making in some instances 500% profit. His dishonest practices didn't stop there. In several cases he was charging us any where between $75-$95-$135 for a trip visit even to drop off a part, only to charge an additional $95 to return the next day to install. His labor charges too, are all over the map, in some instances charging over $600 per hour when itemized. When discovered, and questioned in writing, he avoided a face to face discussion, while sending an employee to answer for him. Icing on the cake is when his employees reviewed the very same invoices with us.......AND agreed with us. They also stated they had brought our issue up with Jim who simply didn't care. When we became insistent that he answer to his invoices, he became surly, agitated, angry, defensive, and disrespectful. He was caught in several bold face lies regarding products he sold us, damaged them, and failed to replace them, yet was eager to sell me the part all over again. He even became disrespectful towards my wife in the process of o His unprofessional attitude. His tone, and mannerisms conveyed a presence as if to say "how dare we question his invoices." He repeatedly blamed his employees, and bad mouthed his competitors all the while attempting to distract us from the heart of the matter. The bottom line, when discovered and when called out by the customer to explain his method and conduct, his crookedness and true character filled the room. His breakdown, and pathetic display of business ethics was amazing to see, and disappointing to witness. Jim Melfa Fails miserably in explaining his costs. He fails miserably in conduct and integrity. His own employees talk Ill of his shady business conduct. An audit of his invoices discovered hundreds of dollars fleeced over a 3 yr period. Our opinion is that he merely looked at our regular service as his guaranteed income without any regard to real hard honest quality service. It was refreshing for us to have finally fired him. And it was exactly that....he was FIRED and kicked off our property. As usual, the proprietor continues with in vague misleading fashion. Nearly 4 years of invoicing, with not a single invoice of regular maintenance looking, or costing the same. A business owner ought to be able to explain this, but not Jim Melfa. Mr. Melfa believes he should not be expected to explain, and expresses so in a condescending disrespectful manner. Life time solutions did in fact install several pieces of equipment he advised was indeed necessary. Of which, his employee broke and did not replace, but Jim Melfa was willing to replace for a fee. Additionally, Lifetime solutions was in fact paid for their last services, with exception to a part his employee stated for the record was under warranty. And, anyone contacting Jim Melfa for further explanation as he suggests, will only get more of his double talk, inconsistent and undocumented excuses. Anyone considering using Lifetime solutions take heed. Get everything in writing! Ask for printed and NOT hand written invoices. Hold him accountable. He is dishonest as the day is long.

We have been servicing equipment NOT installed by Life Time Solutions for 4 years. Mr [Member name removed] never questioned our pricing until this summer. I sat with Mr [Member name removed] for 45 minutes and tried to address all of his questions. The only takeaway I got was our work order was not detailed enough, so he could understand why our fees would vary. Our pricing is in line with all of our competitors and in most cases less. Reading the complaint you can get a sense of the tone of his questions. I asked him 3 times, what can I do to make you happy? I received no answer. We were not paid for work done on our last service. I really liked him. I had an appointment but he was able to come out sooner. He charged me $90 to tell me his son was going to come out to do the work, which was expensive. He wasn't ready to do the work. His son was wonderful.

Jim and his team installed my complete water softening system in 2008. Since that time they have continued to provide the highest service, prompt call-backs, reminder calls for salt. He is always polite, honest and timely. I have recommended him to my neighbors as well. Just love this company!!!!!

Great experience and results! After experiencing frustrations with the quality of our well water quality throughout the 2+ years we have lived in this house, I called Jim Melfa on the strong recommendation of a neighbor who had lived in the area for many years. That neighbor offered that he had been relying on Jim for several years, as had a number of other households in our vicinity, and was very pleased with his service and results. I called Jim and he quickly scheduled to come out to provide us an assessment and estimate. What I was first impressed with was that, rather than jumping to the "obvious" conclusions that had been offered by other plumbing outfits, Jim listened carefully to my description of my experience and concerns with our water and all I'd done to try to resolve them, and to my description of the opinions offered by others. After listening and then conducting his own testing and assessment, Jim offered a somewhat different diagnosis of our problems - one which made perfect sense to me once he explained it. He then provided me a couple of options to consider at different price points to either mitigate the problem using mostly my existing treatment equipment, or more fully address the problem long term with replacement equipment. I accepted Jim's proposal for the more complete solution and within a week he returned with his son to do the installation - which was done quickly and very professionally. Results have been outstanding. Crystal clear water since. Very, very pleased. Highly recommend!

Several years ago my hubby and I purchased a water purification system from this company. As part of the purchase agreement, the tech was to come out to our house every six months (by appointment) and replace the UV bulb in the light that kills bacteria. A few days prior to the appointment, I called the company and told them that they needed to come out after 3pm, as no one would be home until 3pm. They agreed. The technician arrived at 2:45pm, and called me on my cell phone, telling me that no one was at home to let him in. I reminded him that the agreed upon appointment was for AFTER 3pm, and that someone was on their way home and would be there at 3pm. I asked the technician to wait until 3pm. He refused to wait, and he left. My son arrived home at 3pm, called me and told me that he was home and that the tech was not there. A few days later the company billed me $75 for the appointment. I called the company to explain what happened, asked them to reschedule the appointment, and they said that they would only reschedule the appointment after I paid the $75 "penalty" fee for not having been home at the agreed-upon time, (but my son WAS home and the tech had already left) and that they would charge me for the return trip as well. They were quite rude about it, insisting that my son was home and refused to let them in. I know that is not the case - he was on his way home from work to let them in, and there is no way he could have been home from work before 3pm. I have refused to pay the $75 fee, and now I can't get anyone to come and service this unit. I spent several thousands of dollars on this unit and no other company will touch it. So now I have a unit that is not functioning the way it is supposed to function, and am considering having it pulled out and replaced. I've had several other "experts" in the field tell me that this company "over-sold" me and sold me a lot of stuff I didn't need in the first place, so I'm not very happy at this point in time. My advice to you is to save yourself this kind of grief and avoid purchasing anything from this company!
Description of Work: The provider showed up early for an agreed-upon appointment, refused to wait fifteen minutes until the appointment time, (no one was home, but son was on the way home and he WAS home by the appointment time) left, and billed me $75 as a penalty. The company refused to reschedule the appointment until the $75 penalty is paid.

We arrived at the (Member name removed)15 minutes early. 20 something Son would not let us in without Mom, she would be home at 3. At 3:15 the tech called the office Mrs Bradshaw still not home. I called (Member name removed) and was informed she would not be home until 6 we should come back then. When I explained that we could not come back I was told she would call me to re-set. After a week I had not heard from her I called and was told that she had decided to put off the service. Now we had just spent 3 hours in driving to and from the office 70 miles each way and 40 minutes waiting when someone was home. So she got a bill which represented the cost I had incurred. Now I had never done this before or since. The reason I did this time was because (Member name removed) had done this same thing several times in the past . I was determined not to eat anymore losses because (Member name removed) could not call and cancel. On top of all of this we had problems from day one when they cancelled the charge, didn't tell us. We only found out 30 days later when the funds were discovered missing from our account. The reason the (Member name removed) gave us was they meant to use another credit card. Again we incurred $300 loss when we paid the credit card fee on the new card.

I ordered a filtration system from Abbington. They're like 300 miles away. Normally, you would call a local person if something goes wrong and they always want you to replace the whole system. This guy is really nice and although he is an ionic dealer, he will work on anything you've got! He does a great job!
