Davis Heating & Air Conditioning

Three technicians showed up without masks. My wife casually asked them if they had vaccine. None had. I talked to the head of the company who took no responsibility for sending them into the home of two over 75 with conditions. It was my fault for not telling them to send someone who was vaccinated.

I had called the other company several times to come out and fix the humidifier they installed but ultimately they wouldn't. Davis Heating & Air Conditioning came out and said it was a good product. They called the company and had them send out a new humidifier and Davis Heating & Air Conditioning installed it for me. They're very professional and clean. They always make sure to wear protection to not get my home dirty and they present themselves very professionally. I am comfortable with them being in my home and I am very thankful I found them.

It was a great experience. I called Thursday afternoon and explained that my air conditioning wasn't working. They made an appointment for the next day. Later Thursday afternoon they called to cofirm that the technician would be at my house between 7:30 and 8 A.M. on Friday. The technician called me at 7:30 the next day to say that he was running late and would be there by 7:45! He arrived as promissed and took great pains to explain what he was going to do. Then he did it! I would definitely use them again.

It went really good, he cut a hole in the duct work to clear the clog. The heating sensor had gone bad so he had to order a new sensor and should be in within the next few days.

I have had good service from them. They are pretty prompt, come right out. They came out on a weekend. You can get them on the weekend, you pay extra for that, but I just waited. They came out and fixed it. They have always been very prompt and very good. They do what they say they are going to do and they are prompt. They call you and they call you back when they tell you when they'll call you back. And that sometimes problematic in this area. I'm really more concerned at getting the work done properly and they have always been able to do that for me.

We solicited and received bids from a number of local HVAC companies to replace a 60-year old oil furnace and 40-year old air conditioner with a new natural gas furnace and high efficiency heat pump in Roanoke. We also had the ductwork cleaned at the same time, a service Davis also provides. After 60 years, it was about time! Of the companies that submitted proposals, the Davis salesman was the most thorough, completing a heat loss analysis for the house before sizing the system, something which none of the other companies did. I appreciated his attention to detail. While the Davis price was not the lowest, we were able to negotiate a little based on some competitive bids, and they also offered a good financing deal through Lennox. The furnace and heat pump demo and installation was completed in a day, save the installation of the gas line since there was a delay while Roanoke Gas ran a line from the street to a new meter on the house. Davis came back once Roanoke Gas completed the installation of the line to make the final connections. We had a couple minor hiccups with the city inspection. Davis had to come back to replace the circuit breaker (previously a 30A) with a 25A to match the rating of the heat pump, and I had to caulk around the vent pipes on the brick exterior of the house for the inspectors since they had not been sealed. We had two issues with the system after it was installed and running. There was a leak at a glue joint in the condensation drain line, and the system was cycling too often. The Davis tech was able to adjust the cycles of the system so it would not run as often, but it took several additional trips back to get the condensation drain line fixed because a part had to be ordered from Lennox. Overall, the new system is much quieter and keeps the house more comfortable than the old one, and I was pleased with Davis' responsiveness to making sure the system was operating correctly. They were always prompt in returning calls and answering questions when problems arose. Despite having several minor issues, I would recommend them to others.

Davis drilled multiple holes in the vents to clean them out. They were supposed to plug those holes with a plug to maintain my vent pressure. They placed duct tape over the vents instead of placing the plugs in there and I still have not received all the plugs for my vents. They also did not fully wire the new thermostat that came with my new unit, but they did come back out to fix this issue. Our past experiences with this company have been very positive, so this experience is very out of character of our expectations for them and we are very surprised this situation has not been taken care of yet.

Complete HVAC. Quality work. Quality components. They are the best around. Very good work. They don't to rip you off. They will come out at any time to help you.

We called them to receive an estimate to have our AC, furnace, and water heater (overflow tank included in price) replaced. Jim came out and looked over our situation showed us what was available and gave an estimate on the system(s) we were interested in. He answered our questions and then left. We thought it over and compared it with another estimate on like items. Called them back and said to go ahead and do it. Asked when we would want it done. We told them the date that would work for us and that is the day they came and did it. Took about 41/2 - 5 hours to complete installation. One piece still needed for the furnace (drain for furnace - did not affect AC) so they ordered it and came back within a few days and put it on and rechecked the seals around duct work and sealed some leakage. Everything couldn't have gone any smoother. All the employees were professional and nice to work with from the office lady on the phone to the installers.
