Mr. Brooks decided to change the price on me just before beginning work, which would have been easier to accept, should he have tried to give an explanation as to why. Instead, he acted as if we never discussed a price before, and fumbled around when I asked him. The price doubled on me, not just a slight increase for errors, etc., so I don't think it was something to just accept without reason. Some increase is to be expected on an estimate, so I understand that, and can work with it. After I, THE CUSTOMER, called him back days later asking for a second shot at this, he finally came out and looked it over with some of his guys. A week later, all was going very well, and I thought the job would be underway without any more hiccups. Today, all I got was a surprise 7:30 AM text from Brad Brooks, stating he is "covered up in work," and can't do the basement anymore. I asked him what changed, and he never responded to my message, though I can see he read it 30 min later, as the phone tags it as read by the receiver when they click on it (aren't iPhones great?!). I cannot recommend this man to anyone. There was just way too much going wrong on his end. The sad part is my realtor recommended him, and he supposedly cares much about his reputation. He only came out after I left a bad review here, so I changed it to a better one, pending the outcome. Well, its back to bad.

Response from BROOKS CONSTRUCTION
Dear [member name removed], We came and looked at your basement project and discussed a price. When I gave a real estimate you were shocked at how high it was. I didn't push you to do the job and left it at that until you called saying you wanted to proceed. We came to look it over again and you pointed out more you wanted done. When my guys came to look at the plumbing and drywall we found it would be even more wok than it first appeared considering the condition of the ceiling and the bathroom. It appeared someone had tried to do a lot of work themselves and you wanted us to finish it up. The problem is the work was so rough my guys could not just finish what was there they needed to start back from scratch, therein the changing price. Since I do have a lot of work going on I chose to pass on the job hoping you would find someone who could do it closer to your price range and in a shorter amount of time. I'm sorry your upset but we were never committed to anything only assessing your needs. Good luck in the future, Brad Brooks
