They seeded weeds in my perfect grass, dug up viable flowers without permission, and 4 weeks after first providing service, requested more money for services already paid for.

Rick from Able Landscaping called me after I posted in Angie. He scheduled for 2 PM Friday. I took off of work and had to manage care for my mother with dementia while my dad went for a test at that same time. He did not show. After he didn't show at 15 minutes late, I called his cell and left a message letting him know that I was waiting for him and please contact me if there was a misunderstanding or delay. After 45 minutes of no show, I called again and still no response. After an hour of waiting, I called Able Landscaping and left a message to please call me so that I could make plans. I never received a response from any of my messages. I know it's a small patio, but if you don't want to do it then be professional enough to respect my time. Very disrespectful!!!

I contracted for with Able to paved a walkway in October 2018. We went back and forth over whether to have existing pavers cleaned. Ultimately, I signed a contract for what I thought was just the walkway - it too Able months and months to get me on their schedule with work starting sometime around April or May 2019. When I need a new area to be worked on, I pulled the contract to find Able's information, I realized that I had paid for the existing pavers to be cleaned. Granted, the prior work was done about 18 month ago, but I still had paid for it. I called Dave at Able who said that was just too bad for me - he would not honor the contract and would not even discuss a discount for the areas I paid for plus full payment for the new work. He was rude and dismissive

Description of Work: It was beyond bad. I had hired them to do lawn service and to provide mulch. |The mulch I asked for was similar to mini nuggets, not the really fine mulch that tends to blow or wash away. Since I was told that mini nuggets do not come in bulk I said to use their best judgement, knowing what I wanted. Well, what I got was a yard covered in chopped wood. You could use it for kindling in your fireplace and some pieces qualified as logs. Not only that, there were pieces of plastic and paper strewn all through it, similar to what you can get at the dump for free. The pieces are so big that the weeds are having a great time growing and are hard to get rid of since you have to move the wood to get at them. |I also found it interesting that those who came to mow and weed whack didn't appear to know a weed from a plant. I had specifically asked that noone go inside my fenced in area since there was nothing for them to do there. I also had access cordoned off with twine and plastic bags to keep the deer out. So it was a total surprise when I looked out the window and saw someone weed whacking my shade plants inside the fenced in area. His comment was 'I guess the deer won't eat it now". Funny to him, not me. |Package that with horrible customer service and you get the picture of how satisfied I was. Would they do anything about it? NO. That's my two cents worth.

I don't like working with construction companies. Communication is difficult, deadlines missed, hidden costs, extras tagged on and you live in fear of the work being completed correctly. I called about 9 companies back in April 2014 for a fairly large hardscape project. Two never returned my call, two came and never provided a quote, one came and gave a good quote but communication afterwards was a nightmare and their lead time for work was 2 months. Three other quotes were poorly presented or too high. Able Landscaping was the first company we saw. Rick spent plenty of time with us understanding our project. Quote came within a week. Communication was clear and quick. We then had a setback with an easement issue and scraped the entire project. Plan B was developed and Rick came out again and gave us a new quote within a few days. I was a little concerned about using Able Landscaping because of the lack of reviews. They have been in business for 25 years and I had hoped to find more online testimonials.. however, the lack of them can also be a good thing, people are more likely to post when upset or angry with a bad project. Anyway, we proceeded and lead time for work was approx 3-4 weeks. They arrived on time and we spent an hour getting to the detail of the project with the guys doing the work. Exact measurements and grading was done and a plan developed. During the week they hit a few snags (hitting irrigation pipes we did not know about) and each time they worked through the problem. They worked late each evening so I was always able to chat with them after work and discuss issues. The standard of work was excellent. In a project this size, there are so many corners that can be cut and hidden from the owner and I saw nothing that gave me concern. When they were looking for solid ground for one area of the foundation and found soft bouncy dirt (dead roots), they kept digging. They did not nickle and dime me for everything. For example, I had intended to move the raised beds into position myself, but the time frame did not work out so they moved them for me to my specification. The final invoice was as expected. No surprises. Overall, an excellent experience and a great company.
Description of Work: Graded two areas (28x10 & 28x18). Install a 28 foot x 3 foot high main center retaining wall and 3 side retaining walls. Two set of steps. Moved (repaired) irrigation pipes. French drain behind main wall. French drain tied into new gutter pipe from house and buried 30 feet into wetlands area. Positioned 4 pre-built raised beds into lower graded area. Filled each raised bed with compost/top soil mix. Filled lower 28x10 area with gravel.

They were great and I will definitely use them again above other people. I had no idea about the big deal, or else I probably would have had them trim all the bushes too. They were really cheap. They were very friendly and provided excellent service.
Description of Work: I used Able Landscape Company for edging the driveway. They did something else too.
