Turned out to be a waste of money, but I had to rule out the clogged drain idea before digging up the back yard.
The house is in Bedford Co., about 30 miles from civilazation (Roanoke VA)  Turdbusters sent their truck all the way out there and back for $175.  Not bad considering the distance involved.

He used Orangeburg pipe, which is permeable. He also didn't install a 2nd clean-up access, needed due to the distance to the county sewer line. It started backing up, due to tree roots invading the pipe, in late '08. The problem gradually worstened until it was untenable, spring '10. I hired another plumber (Lynn Horn) who dug up the whole line and replaced it with what should've been done in the first place--pvc pipe. I recommend her without reservation. Turdbusters, I wouldn't hire to unclog a toilet.

Regretfully, I had to change the grade I gave to this company in the original review. Things seemed to start out wonderful! But once a problem arose, that is often when you find out what real "customer service" is and is not! We found our drain was once again clogged by something because water was rising up and out onto our basement floor. BUT, this should not have happened again. (We had just had RENU Contracting out here in August of this year. They were supposed to have solved any blockage, but instead, charged us a bunch of money, and left a mess on our walls and floors!! See report) We called a company called Turdbusters (yes, that is the Company name) and talked to the owner named Clinton at about 8:30 p.m on Friday. We were excited that he was able to get to us the next day at 8:30 a.m. He was able to send a hose that produced a high pressure, down through the pipe, and you could see the black uck come up out of the drain. The drain was subsequently unclogged. I had no doubt that the pressure washer did its job! Once he cleaned out the pipes, he told us it would be best to cut out a section of old pipe and replace it with PVC. He did this at two different locations. He made suggestions regarding water pressure, and I agreed that we could use better pressure. He replaced a pressure switch. The old switch worked fine, but he said the water pressure would increase. So we agreed. When all was almost finished we thought this is great. He was in and out with a couple of simple upgrades that didn?t bankrupt us. So, in my excitement, (that a contractor in VA seemed to come through for me) I spontaneously put him into Angie?s List and gave him a great review. I apologize to Angie?s List for this edit. I want accurate accounts and with this event going South, I could not let this happen to another person. So, when he replaced the pressure switch, this caused our pipes to actually lose pressure because he allowed debris to get into the pipes. He said he would fix it and not charge us to clear the pipes. (Well that was nice of him since it was his idea to ?upgrade? which caused the problem). He said he could not get to the pressure problem that day, but would have to get to it next Wednesday the 24th, maybe around 2pm. Why maybe? Since we were not paying him, he said he would have to put us on the back burner because he had to treat paying customers first. These were his words. I didn?t like this, but agreed. He said he would try to get here around 2pm on Wednesday. The next day, (Saturday) we noticed there was a leak from the pipe he had replaced. We called him and advised him of the leak and he said he said he will be out Monday the 22nd to fix it. Monday, 2pm came, and Clinton never arrived. He never called either. He finally arrived around 5pm. He worked on the pipe that was leaking and told us to keep an eye on it. He said he would keep the original Wednesday appointment to fix the pressure problem caused by the pressure switch being replaced. Wednesday came and no Clinton. No phone call, No nothing! I tried to be patient because of Thanksgiving. On Friday we called him again around 11am and he didn?t answer the phone, so we left a message. At 3ish, we had never heard back from him so we called again. He answered the phone. He said a relative had come out from CO. He never apologized for disregarding our appointment on Wednesday. At this time, he is scheduled to fix only the leak on Monday around 2. In my frustration I decided to tell him just to fix the leak and not to worry about the pressure problem. You know- he didn?t have a problem with that? That speaks volumes to me! Not only am I going to have to eat the cost of the ?upgrade? I?m going to have to call another plumber to fix what he had caused in the name of ?upgrade?. Will he arrive on time like he did the first time we called with new business, or will he drag his heels because he is not getting any more cash from us? I just want this problem to come to an end!
