Tom showed up when he said he would and did the work in the time he told us. He let is know how to plan our time with airing out the house after refinishing the floors. He followed our instructions about the finish type we wanted on the floors. We were happy with the work, and the price was very good. They rolled up and removed the old carpet. The only downsides to hiring Tom was that there were some minor spots where the refinish didn't look perfect. This was because of dips in the floor or difficult to access areas. Also, his guys smoked a lot and left a lot of cigarette butts around the outside of the house. He did make them come over and clean that mess up.
Description of Work: Tom Tran removed carpeting and refinished hardwood floors in our house before we moved in. They refinished the baseboard trim.

Tom Tran assured us that he could do this job - install pre-engineered hardwood floors in our great room and then sand and stain the existing hardwood floors in adjoining rooms to match. He totally botched both jobs beyond anything you can imagine.. Five other contractors (carpenter, electrician, plumber, plasterer, kitchen designer) working on our house said that the job he did was:" horrible", "pitiful", "pathetic", "worst flooring job I've seen in 40 years in the business", etc.. English is not his first language and he is almost incomprehensible which made communication very challenging, We lhad already paid him $4000 when we fired him and he required that we give him an additional $1000 to "go away." We then ripped out all the flooring he had installed and hired someone who was professional and competent to start all over again. The new flooring contractor had 3 men spend 3 8-hour days just prepping the floor before hardwood flooring installation, as clearly outlined in the installation instructions by the manufacturer. Mr. Tran didn't so much as sweep the floor before he began installation. All of our furniture was in storage while all of this was going on for which we footed the bill. On the insistance of the other contractors who said Mr.Tran gave the trades a bad name, we will be suing him in small claims court. AVOID THIS CONTRACTOR LIKE THE PLAGUE AND PASS THE WORD TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO IS CONSIDERING HARDWOOD FLOORING INSTALLATION.
