Mark came out and measured and was very easy to work with. We went to his shop and designed our railing, which was fun and then we knew for sure what we were getting. He also sends photos as work progresses to ensure we were happy with the progress and end product. We had some construction delays, yet he remained flexible. Some flashing had been added to the deck after he measured so it took some extra work when he came to install, but he did it with a smile. He and his helper were very thorough and careful. They had to hoist the railing up to the second floor and took precautions to not damage my porch column. They also had to install into a porcelain tiled deck and were very careful when drilling holes - no cracked tiles! In addition, he had to attach the railing and hand rail to brick siding and again, no problems. Would definitely hire again for any metal work.
Description of Work: Mark made a railing for an upper deck on my house. He also made a handrail for the steps going down my back porch.

Mark was great from the beginning all the way through to the end. I found him on Angie's List when I was trying to figure out how to get metal rails installed on our porch for safety and aesthetic reasons. He was punctual in all aspects, very easy to speak with, pleasant and invited us to go to his shop and see rails he'd made that he had in a show room. He is quite talented and became a metal craftsman out of a passion for it, having done metal work on the side for several years and eventually his business went to well he stopped his full time job to do this instead. I also found his pricing to be competitive with other rail solutions, and his rails were by far superior to wood or aluminum. Our rails are beautiful and my husband is over the moon with the pull up bar (my husband and I couldn't quite figure out a really good way to hang the bar but Mark came up with a real clever, very secure fix). I highly recommend Mark and will use him in the future if I need metal work - he also does more creative, artistic pieces.
Description of Work: Custom made metal rails for our 1931 Four Square home for front porch, small rail for steps to basement and as an aside, built a super cool pull up bar braced at four points inside our 1931 garage.

Mark Williams provided an on-site estimate and gave an estimated date of when he could complete the work. He is very meticulous and took the time to make sure the job was done right. His work was beautiful. His assistant was very friendly and went the extra mile of fixing a gate latch that was not part of the job. I would recommend The Metalist highly for both his quality of work and professionalism.

I cannot say enough positive comments about Mark and his assistant. Mark was prompt in every way - from phone calls to appointments to finishing the project. He was very personable - fun to work with, patient in hearing my needs/desires for the railings, and professional in every aspect of the job. He fashioned the railings according to my specs and also offered his expert advice for making the railings aesthetically appealing. His pricing was very reasonable and his work was meticulous, done with a sense of pride and love that revealed itself in the final product. There was absolutely no debris left on each and every day he was on site. He met my every expectation and beyond. These railings, which I didn't want to begin with, but needed, are now the focal point of my entrance instead of the eyesore I had dreaded. I can recommend The Metalist without any qualms whatsoever. This was a perfect experience for me.

Mark is the consummate professional! He responded to my email inquiry promptly and in a welcoming way. I felt like my project had all his attention and that I wasn't just another job for him. He took interest in what I was wanting to have done and he invited me over to the shop to talk about the details (materials to be used, dimensions, paint specs, etc.) I was emailed digital images as the project moved along and he was very careful to make sure I was happy with things when he'd move from one step to the next. You can't find a more pleasant and genuine person to do business with. And the final product itself? Topnotch work. I couldn't be happier. I'm so glad I went to Mark for this project!

Description of Work: I purchased a house a few years ago which was built in the 1960's. It has a doorway leading to the back yard that I never used because there was a stoop which had wrought iron railings and 5 concrete steps to the yard level with no railings. I did not feel safe using those steps. While cruising Craig's List one day, I saw a listing for the Metalist, a company that seemed to do just what I needed, wrought iron work, welding and metal fabrication. I contacted the owner, Mark Williams, not expecting to afford what I needed done. He responded very quickly, came out, and gave me an estimate I couldn't refuse. His work was top notch. He is a perfectionist, a professional, is courteous and punctual. What more could I ask ? I don't think you will go wrong with this company.

Mark cut the metal apart between each pole and welded in four extra inches of the same size metal. This required two welds between each pole for a total of 24 welds and 44 extra inches of metal. I took the weave poles in to him on a Friday afternoon and he was finished with the work by Monday afternoon. His charge for this service was $100 - a very reasonable price. In addition, he painted the whole set for me at no extra charge without my even asking him to do it. His philosophy is to give his customers a little extra than expected. He sure did. He saved me from driving to a store, buying a can of paint, and painting the set myself. I just happened to have some Rust-Oleum primer or I would have had to buy two cans of paint. What a deal!
Description of Work: I had a set of 12 dog agility weave poles with the poles 20 inches apart. The newest specifications for most venues calls for the poles to now be 24 inches apart. My base steel was two inches in width and 3/8 of an inch thick. I needed to have them modified by welding an extra 4 inches of steel to the base between each pole to conform to the newer specifications.
