I found Trevor and Chris (TC) through craigslist. I had started a project to open up my cramped 1950's kitchen by removing two load-bearing walls (with the exception of a few 2x4's) and framed up temporary walls. I ran out of time to complete the project and instead of crawling over all of the materials that I had stored in the floor for the next few weeks/months, I decided to hire someone to finish hanging the beams for me. All in all, I'd give the workmanship a "C" and, if I needed some rough framing to be done in the future, I'd consider using them again, but I don't think I'd use them for any finish carpentry. I hired TC Carpentry for this small job as a trial for possibly using them to build a deck on the back of my house this spring; I think I'll either look elsewhere or tackle the deck myself.
Description of Work: Trevor and Chris finished the demo work that I had started (removing two load-bearing walls), and hung two 20-foot pieces of 11-7/8" LVL, 2 11-foot pieces of 2x8, and framed a column in the basement to carry the load from the first floor to the concrete basement floor. No finish work was specified in the quote; that will come after another intermediate project. Trevor and Chris did a decent job of framing up the beams however, I spent a good deal of money having a structural engineer size the beams and specify how they should be installed; Trevor and Chris didn't follow the engineered drawing to spec. And, perhaps I'm naive to the use of contractors, but I would have thought that damage prevention/clean-up would have been included in the quote, but I guess I should have clarified. They left 2x4s in my front yard, and didn't put back some of the things they moved.
