The owners are obnoxious bsers who never tell the truth. They left our yard a mess. We live in NE Roanoke.

Prompt service, very knowledgeable, showed up on time. Highly recommend. Would use again.

After joining Angie's list for the specific purpose of finding a tree service,I sent Paul Bunyan Tree Service 3 different messages on 2/25/16, 2/27/16 and 3/11/16. I still have not heard from them yet and today is 3/22/16.

The work was great. Protected my yard from the heavy equipment tires. When the left, I could not tell that heavy equipment had been in my yard. In fact, the only way that I could tell work was done was the straw covering for new grass where one of the stumps was ground. I recommended them to my neighbor and they used them a few months ago with no complaints.

Promptly returned phone calls and emails regarding bid and start time. Crew arrived on time and started work immediately. Work was performed exactly as bid and even sawed a larger log that was not part of the bid. They were careful not to damage other trees and did a great job cleaning up the area, including a neighbors property that they used for chipping debris. No hesitation to recommend and will utilize for future tree work

Lane was very responsive, cooperative, and professional. The crew was very skilled, polite, careful and efficient. It took about 5 hours for them finish cutting the tree and they cleaned up the branches as they worked. They returned the next day to clean up the sqw dust and did an excellent job. We have already recommended them to a neighbor and will recommend to anyone in the future. We will definitely use them for all of our tree work going forward.

The initial estimate process seemed to go well. I felt that Lane spent a lot of time with me, listened well, offered great advice, and was prompt with sending proposals. Once I could not have the work done on the initial date they suggested, I felt like I had to initiate contact in order to be scheduled. We ended up having the work done 2 1/2 months and many emails and phone calls after we had initially discussed. I understand full schedules but wish that I had not had to continually initiate contact. If there were a Communication category on Angie's List, that is actually where I would put the lower score rather than under Professionalism. Our proposal read that work would be done on the perimeter--removing deadwood as high as 20 feet and removing brush. However, our perimeter was not touched on the day the dead trees were cut down. I called and was told that I had misunderstood; however, they would send out a crew to "complete" the work. Then, the crew did not appear on the day indicated. I gave them a week and then called. We had been forgotten! A crew was then sent out promptly, but they only worked on one fenceline. So, I had to call again. I was told again that I had misunderstood which I did not appreciate. What else could "perimeter" mean? Especially since we had walked those areas during the initial consultation. After being told that there was no way that I would have received this service at this price I was made to feel that I was receiving something extra and was told that the crew would take hours to work the other fenceline. They took less than an hour when they came out. In fact, they proceeded to cut down live, healthy trees with a 2-3" diameter. Some were actually quite desirable trees--including a redbud. Thank goodness I was watching and could stop them. Now I've lost these trees and have a straight view over my neighbor's yard and out onto a busy street. I am devastated. I had specified "hazardous" limbs and the contract read "deadwood." If Paul Bunyan would have stuck to the proposal, I don't think there could have been any problem or confusion. Instead I was made to feel as if I was asking for more. Finally, whenever I would call the office to speak with someone (for example, with a billing question), I actually reached a "rollover" service. I'm not sure why one cannot simply reach the office. I had to instead leave messages and wait for return calls. Perhaps this is why they provide Lane's cell number, but he is often busy out in the field. This company had come highly recommended, but I am quite disappointed and now I'm angry every time I look at that bare spot in my yard.

They came out and gave an estimate, but never came back. They made several appointments but never showed up.

That company has the greatest owners, and group of guys working for them. They were here the day promised on time. They did the work in a resonable time. They were back in about a week to cut 2 trees down. They cut them down, cleaned up all the wood shavings from the trunks, fertilized areas, planted grass, put straw and netting over the area. They did an excellent job. We would not hesitate calling them again.

They were awesome...efficient and very clean as they worked. it was a six hour job with neighbors observing. they had to bring in a crane to get the trees off. I would highly recommend them and would use them again. They responded to us the same nite as the storm and were at our house that nite: Lane was awesome as was the team foreman.

Lane came out and gave me an estimate to prune two trees. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with addressing all my concerns and questions. Told me it would be a few weeks till he could get me on the schedule and he would call 24 hours in advance of doing the work. He did and when I came home from work the trees were pruned and all debris was cleaned up thoroughly. Both trees looked GREAT! Will definitely use Paul Bunyan Tree Service again!

I contacted Paul Bunyan via their website and promptly got a call back asking when they could come by and give me as estimate. Lane arrived on the day scheduled, right on time. I had my estimate the next day and got the work scheduled for the following week. His crew came out and did an outstanding job.

They are on Angie's List. They had a big chipper and guys. They were done within a couple of hours with all that stuff. I couldn't believe they cleaned everything up that I wasn't using. They even moved stuff. This is the 4th time I have used them. I will keep using them. They are very knowledgeable about the trees and everything. They look at things and they know exactly what it is. If the things are good for the occasion or not, which is really impressive.

They schedule the appointment, are always on time, spray the trees with long powerful hoses, ask me to ask my neighbors to keep their pets inside until the spraying is over and have never damaged any property. Their treatment works as my trees have been free of adelgids that suck the sap out of the trees and kill them if left untreated. The representative who I work with, Tim, provides lots of helpful information about the insects and the treatment.

Left for work and when we came home the job was done. It seemed amazing to us that the huge trees where there in the morning and completely gone by afternoon with no trace at all that anything had even happened.

Our neighbor had a tree that was hanging over our house and the root system was causing our stone wall to fall. We agreed to split the cost of removing the tree with the neighbor and he worked with both of us.

Paul Bunyan's Tree service was quick to respond with an estimate and quick to finish the work. They gave us an expert opinion by a certified arborist about correct pruning of our tree that had been "topped" in the past. Our tree looks much better and is healthier now. They also installed some copper caps in holes in the tree to discourage animals living in it in order to cut down some of the mess in our yard. The guys in the crew that did the work were very nice and they did a thorough job cleaning up.
