Mr,.[Member Name Removed], it is still my intention to find a solution for your issue on your door. it is a difficult cosmetic issue and short of a complete front facade renovation( porch addition , or further inhancment) a simple door replacement would look to plane as we discussed. a phypon pilaster and Capitol would work but integrating with vinyl slideing is proving an issue as well. I should have communicated this and for that i apologize. I communicated my back log situation but do not offer it as an excuse. i will reach out and update tou today. again ,my apologies

We moved from Florida, into a renovated house in Roanoke Virginia, after an exhaustive search. The house, although beautifully renovated, left a few areas that really needed attention. Our basement was half-finished, providing us with a family room, including a wet bar. But the other side of the basement, which herein shall be called "the dungeon" was a dark, raw, fully exposed area. There was a washer/dryer hookup, but that was all. My wife hated it. Exposed wood, cement floor... cavernous. We hired Martin Services, here in Roanoke, VA, to do the renovation. Dan Martin gave us a very fair bid on the project, and we accepted. We described what we wanted: - frame out an area approximately 12x12, into a laundry room, with 4 walls, and a door into the remaining storage area. - all of the pipes, dryer exhaust, and heating ducts to be enclosed. - a drop ceiling put in with new LED lighting. - ceramic tile installed. - three cabinets installed, with an L-Shaped counter top. - a sink in the counter-top, with a detachable hand sprayer. All of this, plus the electrical work, plumbing, painting and finishing. Dan and his crew were courteous, always on time (and a lot of this was over the Christmas holidays), and very expert in their work. Dan made sure we were happy with every phase of the project, always communicating with us. Everything was completed to our extreme satisfaction. The room is no longer a dungeon. In fact, my wife looks for laundry to do, just to hang out in the room. I would hire Martin Services for any project, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a competent, fair, professional and very friendly contractor.
Description of Work: Convert empty basement with just a washer/dryer hookup into a complete laundry room.

Mike called before coming on the day we agreed to. He arrived a short time later and assessed the door. He told me how he could fix it. We agreed to the repairs. One hour later he had completed the job. The door continues to shut with relative ease.

Dan is extremely personable and easy to work with. While it may take time until he is available, it is worth the wait. The job isn't finished until the customer is happy. On a side note, Martin Services was one of two companies through AngiesList that met our criteria. After a very short phone conversation, he's the same Dan Martin who was our neighbor and built our deck 30 years ago! He asked me if it's still standing....it is!

Incredible experience. This is the best kitchen I've ever owned, and I'm a senior citizen who spent 22 years enduring military moves. Dan Martin and crew tailored this kitchen exactly to what I wanted. In fact, there were more than just one or two suggestions Dan made about the design, for which I am most grateful. Two of these were eliminating non-load bearing walls, which opened a tiny galley kitchen up to include a island/breakfast bar. At my most recent family gathering, it was a breeze to feed 22 people. In the original kitchen, barely two people could fit (see photo with Charlie the Dog). Work was exceptional. Dan and crew were diligent, precise and willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything was done to their high standards. Dan also works with the homeowner to keep costs down, and kept the homeowner informed daily of progress and plans. His was the lowest bid. Since my kitchen completion, I recommended him to others, and they had similar results. Outstanding service, true professional. Several months after the kitchen renovation, I had a smaller project to repair/replace the basement ceiling. Again, the work was done professionally, and I was completely pleased. Great service, great price; experienced and hard-working crew - I didn't even bother to get several bids this time.
Description of Work: Kitchen renovation, to include complete rip-out of existing kitchen; install new cabinets, lighting, electrical, plumbing, flooring, solid-surface countertops, sink, paint, millwork; and partial removal of two walls.

Overall the job went well and happy with the end results. Dan (Martin) was generally on time and responsive to my questions. Price for work and materials was fair although it was a bit confusing coordinating his quote with my insurance claim. The only real hiccup with the job involved the carpeting. He quoted as part of the entire job (which we asked him to do for our claim) and the end result was ok but I feel it may have gone more smoothly for us to have that part done independently with another carpet specific professional as it appeared a bit out of his realm. We also asked him to do some other small jobs outside of the main basement job (lighting, ceiling repair, install new sliding door to deck) and those went well. I would recommend Martin Services to others.

The job went well and the result was just what I wanted. The job turned out to be bigger than I had thought when many more deck boards had to be replaced. Dan kept me in the loop during the work and I agreed to the need for the further repairs. The job was done in the winter and snow hampered the operation but the crew saw it through in a timely fashion.
Description of Work: Renewed a large deck around a pool that was 25 years old by replacing many boards and sheathing that had weathered badly. Also added a 14'x25' sun roof and rebuilt the gate. Added structural support as needed to assure many more years of enjoyment.

Mr. Martin is a true professional. He was always prompt and courteous, a good communicator and willing to go the extra mile to make the project complete. He went over and above what was expected. He has a good eye for design. I am planning to have him back to our home to do more work in the future. I could hardly be happier with how the entire experience went. This project went a bit longer than expected and he was always gracious and accommodating during any unexpected occurrences. By the time he finished, everything was done according to my preferences and expectations.

I had a list of 3 fixes I wanted done. Two of them were completed without problems: adjusting the front door deadbolt and replacing a fascia board. But the third, fixing a leaky sunroom roof, proved more difficult. They cleaned a gutter adjacent to the roof but were unable to fully examine the roof to find the leaks. So, unfortunately, the fix did not work (as I found out during a recent snowstorm). Dan offered to return and try again but as I had already paid an extra $125 in addition to the Big Deal amount, I declined. Nonetheless, I think they do good work and I would hire them again for certain home improvements.

Dan responded very fast to our inquiry. I needed the work done right away and he was able to schedule me within days on very short notice even around a very busy schedule. Dan and his crew had some challenging circumstances matching up drywall to previous sub-par work that was already there. They did an excellent job and completed the work very fast. I am very pleased and will be contacting Dan to help me with other aspects of this project.

Dan did a great job and the result is just what we had hoped for. He did everything from getting the permit and materials to working with the inspectors to make sure that everything passed. This project was done over the holiday season and some personal schedule issues of ours that should have frustrated him but it never showed. The weather did not cooperate either turning too cold to paint for an extended period. We appreciated him waiting until conditions were right rather than rush through it to get the final payment and let us deal with frozen paint flaking off. We through several curves at him by requesting thing that were thought of as the project progressed - like the outlets for Christmas decorations. He also went out of his way to fish wires behind the brick to the existing porch lights to avoid an ugly conduit connection. We are very pleased with the finished product.
Description of Work: Working from an artist rendering of what we wanted, Dan built exactly what we had envisioned. We wanted a 10'x5' roof built over the front porch of our home that was stylistically consistent with its English Tudor decor. This included 2 columns, handrails, house numbers, a recessed light fixture and 2 convenience outlets for Christmas decorations. He was very helpful suggesting materials and construction techniques to achieve a solid structure with the least cost to get good durability, longevity and value. His price was reasonable and his references raved about his work and his dedication to quality.
