The installer was great, but I had problems with the estimator. He forgot to add in one of the windows, so it was more than we thought it was going to be. Then he said he couldn't get the right windows. The whole thing held up the kitchen remodel. Then, when he couldn't get the windows I wanted, he kept trying to sell me something else. We eventually got the windows we wanted, but it was such an ordeal.
Description of Work: They did a bunch of windows for us when we remodeled the kitchen.

The installation was perfect. The carpet we purchased was trackless and we did not know this. We fault the store for not giving us that information.
Description of Work: We purchased carpet and had them install it.

At the end of June 2012, I signed a contract with Lowe's to put up a new ChoiceDek which was to replace my old wooden deck which was falling apart. The sales person told me by the end of July 2012 I would be using the new deck and that the whole job would take four days to complete. The contract clearly stated the work would begin in about 3-4 weeks from the contract date. The work actually started the Tuesday after Labor Day September 4, 2012. The work took much longer than the promised four days though. There were delays in getting the proper permits from the City of Roanoke VA which was not the fault of Lowe's or their installer. When all that was cleared up, work resumed for a time. Work stopped for a very long period when after the holes were dug for the new deck they had to be inspected by the City of Roanoke, again I didn't fault Lowe's or the installer. However during this delay, I contacted the City of Roanoke to see what the hold up was and the person who answered the phone looked up on their computer and said no such inspections had been requested and were not on the schedule. I then started calling the installer and he said the city required him to submit a drawing of the deck, etc. There again I didn't fault Lowe's or the installer but I was getting suspicious something wasn't right because I was hearing one thing from the installer and another thing from the city. Weeks go by, and when finally the holes were inspected, worked resumed for a time until the installer informs me that some deck parts were missing and that would take two weeks to get the parts in. More weeks pass. During the time of this delay, I contacted the sales person and expressed my unhappiness on how slow the deck work was going and I had expected the job to be done months prior as I had been promised. Also during this waiting period, when I would call the sales person to complain and inquire as to why there was yet another hold up, the sales person told me he had underquoted the job and I was actually getting a $16,000 deck for $9,000. I didn't believe this for a minute. When I was in discussions with him prior to signing the contract, he showed me the printed guidelines for pricing and he charged me what was in his pricing guidelines. I then concluded he was now starting to lie to me to make me think I was getting something more than what I paid for in order to shut me up. It didn't shut me up however. When after some more time goes by and the installer finally got back around to me again, work continued until it got to the banisters of the deck which the installer explained the wrong color ChoiceDek materials were included and it would take another yet two weeks for the replacement materials to arrive. Two weeks passed, no word. More weeks pass, still not a word. I called the installer and he said he was waiting on Lowe's to contact him. More time passes then the installer informs me the replacement banisters that came were damaged and it would take yet another two weeks for the replacement materials to arrive. We are now into just before Christmas of 2012. I then started calling the Lowe's store manager and told him Lowe's was in breach of contract and actually the job started in breach of contract since the job didn't get started until over eight weeks after I signed the contract. Finally the correct banisters came and were installed towards the end of December 2012. To this date, February 20, 2013, the deck job is still not complete due to the fact I am still waiting for the facings for the underside of the deck to be installed. The installer informed me after he installed the banisters that there were not sufficient facing materials included to finish out the job. I am still waiting for the facings to be installed and work cannot continue because of the cold Winter we are having. Lowe's made promises they never kept and between the sales person, the store manager and the installer I've heard nothing but one flimsy excuse after another as to why there were so many delays. I still have $3,000.00 left to pay for this deck. Even though the quality of work has been good, if the installer ever gets around to finishing the job and I pay off the remaining balance of the project, I will never get Lowe's to do a home improvement project on my house again due to the fact they were such a nightmare to deal with. I have dealt with many contractors and projects in my time but I have never experienced the situations I've endured working with Lowe's. Update May 2, 2013: On May 1, 2013, I called and complained to the Lowe's Corporate Office about my deck still not being completed. I then got a call from the Lowe's store manager in about 20 minutes promising me the installer would finish the last little bit on Thursday, May 2nd and they would be at my house between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM. On May 2nd, 3:30 PM came and went and still no installer, yet again. I then called the Lowe's Corporate Office again complaining the installer didn't show and I told them I was going to call the Corporate Office each and every day until this deck is finally finished. It has now been eight months since the deck construction has started and I was originally promised the job would be done by the end of July 2012. I have already paid off the deck and have closed my Lowe's account. Update May 3, 2013: The installer actually arrived at 4:55 PM on May 2nd but had the wrong materials. A district person from Lowe's called me and then told me that they would have to order the correct materials. This was supposedly done last Winter according to the installer who told me last December he was going to have to order the facing or deck skirting materials and I was even told a few months ago they had arrived at Lowe's are were waiting for the installer to pick them up and install them. I relayed this to the district person and of course he didn't know anything about it. So I'm back to the waiting for the correct materials game yet again.
Description of Work: New 16'x16' ChoiceDek composite deck, replacing old wooden decking.
