Home Comfort HVAC was a company that was recommended to me by word of mouth. I had actually scheduled a different company to come out before I called them, but the other companies wanted $80-$90 for the first pound of refrigerant, and then $40/pound after. Other companies wouldn't even give me a rate until I had paid for a tech to "diagnose" my system! When I called Melvin at Home Comfort, he immediately gave me a flat rate of $30 per pound (keep in mind that cost of freon is rising rapidly these days, so if you're looking at this review far in the future, rates may be drastically different). With their cost at $25/pound right now, this seemed a very fair price, especially considering the outrageous "first pound" costs of competitors! They checked my refrigerant levels first, then went to the basement and pulled apart the maze of HVAC pipes/ducts to access the A frame coils and then thoroughly cleaned it. Once they got a better reading after the coil cleaning, they cleaned the condensor coils and added a couple pounds of freon. Didn't even charge me for the partial pound. They were pleasant and professional, straight up no nonsense and gave me some good, candid advice about my system. (I have a 3 ton ac unit and only a 2 ton blower, so the blower is a bit underpowered). They even came out in the blistering 97 degree heat on the fourth of july to work on my AC and charged me normal rates. It's now the day after and my house is much, much cooler than before. Well worth every penny.
