I have used Cundiff for 17 years spanning two homes. In that time, they have done some good work and some very bad work. Once I had an upstairs bedroom that was sweltering hot. First technician to visit told me it was because of my daughter's fish tank/humidity. Second technician told me all of my upstairs vents were "leaky" and I needed to have some internal sealing treatment that cost around $1000. After those measures failed to rectify the situation, and hundreds/thousand dollars later, I climbed into my attic and noted that the flexible duct leading to my daughter's bedroom had been crushed closed by a piece of rigid dryer vent pipe that Cundiff had also installed for me over top of the flexible duct. After paying Cundiff to come and replace the crushed piece of flexible duct and placing it OVER the rigid dryer vent pipe, the situation was corrected. I spoke with management. The owner did offer to refund the cost of the internal sealing treatment, but I did not take him up on that, as I felt they did the work so should get paid. That entire episode should have been the final straw for me, but I have used them once more with bad results. I moved to a new home January 2020 and the upstairs AC couldn't keep up with set cooling levels on extremely hot days. The first technician found nothing wrong. The second simply cleaned the coil. The problem worsened. I contacted Cundiff directly and was told to expect a call from Joe Havens Jr., which has not happened. So, several hundreds of dollars later, I have now contacted a different HVAC company, recommended by the prior owner of the home, who tells me I need a new unit. That is what I suspected, but I wish Cundiff could have told me that two service visits and hundreds of dollars ago. Anyway, I no longer recommend Cundiff. They can't figure things out/are incompetent, charge you for "trying again" when it's their fault, and don't keep their promises to contact you when things go wrong. Use someone else, anyone else. Cundiff is not worth your time or money.

Description of Work: I had annual heating And cooling scheduled maintenance plan. In the last visit they found leak of gas and on the day of service they performed a leak test and found upstairs unit had faulty coil and quoted $1179 for replacement.on the lower unit, they did not see leak , but I had paid $330 for filling of gas which was low. So the technician applied something called" stop leak" injection to the system, and billed $ 110 for the service. I agreed for both the above payments. When the bill came from service dept came, they charged another $125 in the bill, and I questioned the $125 which the technician did not indicate or even charge in the copy given to us on the day of service. When ,I questioned the service department's bill over phone, the person who sent the bill and attended the phone Ms Wanda was so dis-respectable to me as a customer and argued I have to pay irrespective of what I am telling. She even cutoff the phone, before even my completing the clarification. Then I called again and talked to another lady in office, and explained the whole incident, and requested to speak to supervisor or manager of Wanda to put my request and the incident in records. She said, manager is not available now, but suggested to leave voice mail for him and assured HD will call back. I left very detailed message for him and my dissatisfaction with the service company as they were doing unprofessional billing to me and not ready to explain or answer my questions. I am a customer for them for last 3 years on the scheduled maintenance program, paid $540 for that, paid $340 one month back for filling gas, which they did not find any leak during their routine visits, but charged me and I paid anyway. Then paid $1179 for the coil on one unit. Also was ready to pay $110 for stop leak, but they wanted additional $125 for that day's service, though this was done during routine paid service visit. The manager has not known courtesy to call me back even after almost a month. In order to end the dealing with the company, I actually paid the $110 and the $125 additional charge they charged, even though it was not making sense, anyway. So as customer, I will not recommend Cundiff Heating anymore. They were claiming to be very customer oriented, but people like Wanda has ruined the company.

We came home to find our air conditioner was off. The thermostat was blank. We called Cundiff Heating and Air who had installed our heat pump in 2006. They sent a service person who found the problem and fixed it within an hour. The service call was reasonable (when we compared with other company prices) and the charge for cleaning the condensation pump was fair!

In my opinion, the service contract is a scam. I originally purchase a service contract on November 28, 2012. This was to include two service calls. One in spring one in the fall. I called today to schedule my fall appointment (I never had the spring call) and was told that they couldn't get to me until the end of November and that I would have to renew my service contract before they would provide the fall service. (The service contract had expiration date creep). Since signing my initial agreement in 2012, I have consistently renewed my contract which should have taken me thru November 28, 2014. I could not understand why I needed to sign a service contract through November 2015 to get the fall service in 2014.
Description of Work: I had a service contract for the past two years at a cost of $199. This was found to include only replacing filters and the last service appointment, they had to use my filter as they did not have the correct size on the truck.

On the first day of installation after talking with Rodney he told us that there is no way that the job will be finished in 2-3 days, "not unless he had a crew of 10". On the third day of the job, my neighbor (brother-in law) let in the crew in at 9am (since we were not home that day). My brother in law returned in about a hour to check on them and found all of the crew sleeping. Two were in their trucks, one on a hillside in the shade and another in the garage. He woke them all up at that time. We notified Tim of this and never heard back from him. Rodney told my brother in law that they would come on Sat to get majority of work done since they were "behind on the job". Saturday came and no one showed up, no one called. In the end it took 5 days to complete the job. In August we returned to our vacation home and found our gas water heater was not working. Contacted Cundiff to see if they would service it. Was told if they did not install it (which they did not), they would not service. Another company came out and after 5 hours it was discovered that Cundiff had capped off the wrong gas vent line when they removed the old gas furnace. Cundiff capped off the gas water heater vent instead of the gas vent for furnace, which cause the water heater not to work. Contacted Cundiff right away and spoke with Brandon who apologized and told me Cundiff would reimburse me for the service call to "fix" the water heater which cost approximated $250. Brandon also said he would follow up with me the next day, which he never did. I called Cundiff to speak with the owner and after about a week finally spoke with Jerry Cundiff. Jerry Cundiff was the most rude and disrespectful person I have ever dealt with. I told him everything that had happen from the estimate with Tim, installation with Rodney and lack of response from Brandon. Mr. Cundiff basically called me a liar and was not sure if Cundiff was responsible for the hot water heater problems and did not believe that his workers would sleep on the job in a house that the owners were not there. He yelled at me and told me he had been in the hospital, and one of their offices had flooded that summer and he had "more money then me, so it didn't matter to him if he had to reimburse me $250". I will never use Cundiff again, and have shared my experience with several neighbors that are looking to replace their HVAC units. Never did hear back from Tim, except when he sent a bill the week after installation.
Description of Work: In the spring of 2013 my husband and I contacted Cundiff to replace two gas heaters/ac units in our vacation home. The units were 13 years old. They still worked, but were lower end models, so we wanted to upgrade them before they became an issue. This was a completely optional event for us. Tim (Service Manager) came out to give us an estimate. It took several months to get him to give us an estimate for what we wanted. He started by giving us every type of equipment available from the lowest end to highest end. In the end we decided to convert our two gas units to high energy efficiency heat pumps/ac by Carrier. Tim told us over and over again that it would take 2-3 days "at the most" to replace both units. The job was started July 10, 2013. Rodney was in charge of the installation and he had 3 other men helping him.

It went very smoothly! The technician entered my home and I described the problem I was having with my heat pump. He went into the attic space and located a blown transformer. He had the part in stock and was able to replace it that day.

Installation took place over several weeks. The first phase of the installation was the digging of the trenching for the hundreds of feet of piping that contains the liquid that is heated/cooled by the ground. Cundiff was worried that any boulders might delay the digging, but thankfully none were found and the installation went smoothly. There was then a small delay as the parts were ordered after it was known that the pipe installation went well. The purpose of waiting before ordering parts was in case any design changes would need to be made if any surprises were found during the trenching. The indoor installation and replacement of our current A/C-heating system also went smoothly. The GeoThermal units install inside and are quiet, so we no longer have outdoor A/C units (we were replacing our outdoor units). Cundiff was able to use our existing duct-work, so no changes were needed there. There were multiple different workmen, but they were all clean and friendly, and cleaned up each day when the work was done. In the year since we've had the system installed, we have had to have Cundiff come out a couple of times. One time we had a small water leak at one of the main units, where apparently the fitting wasn't tight enough. Another time our upstairs unit did not seem to be cooling properly. There seemed to be an air bubble or something causing that problem, but whatever it was it is working better now. All of these visits were covered by our warranty, and no additional charges have been made since our initial purchase price. We've been very pleased with the consistent temperatures the GeoThermal system provides over our previous "standard" A/C & Heating system. In the summer, it is a pretty constant cool, and in the winter the heat is also constant. While the system is very expensive, Cundiff's price was very competitive as compared to two other quotes we obtained.
Description of Work: Installation of GeoThermal system using a horizontal ground-loop. Home has two-zones, and installation included two digital thermostats. A long trench (several hundred feet) had to be dug to install the geo-thermal pipes, which was subcontracted to another company (The Loop Group). The system provides both heat and air conditioning, and as a bonus we had the "desuperheater" connection made to our hot water heater, which provides "free" hot water during the summer months when the GeoThermal system is used as an A/C system.
