Crowe has expanded into a general contractor business. I needed a "one stop shop" for all our needs to prepare our home for sale. The work in the basement was quite extensive as the entire ceiling needed to be replaced after a leak in the 30' main kitchen drain line. Patching was not an option as the hole was quite large and the ceiling was popcorn. They also installed additional can lights while the ceiling was open. They suggested and I approved the installation of crown molding, which makes the room look 'done'. Chris (owner) was very reasonable on pricing and I could not speak higher of his lead man, Brandon. The other gentlemen on the crew were also professional, courteous and easy to get along with. After the ceiling was finished, I called them back for a second job to help get other areas of the house ready that I could not handle alone. This included painting the rest of a very tall interior stairwell, all kitchen and bathroom cabinets (this required extensive sanding and 7 coats of paint), painting of the deck and the roof soffits. Again, all of the crew were professional, courteous and easy to get along with and the price was right. After the house sold and the home inspection revealed repairs, I returned to Crowe. This time, the tub stopper, door jamb, gutters and stair post needed repair. The fact that they are a 'one stop shop' saved me the frustration of dealing with the scheduling and payment of multiple contractors. I spent about $5500 for all of the work, not including the paint. I suspect I would have paid 2-3 times that for individual contractors. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Job 1) replaced kitchen main drain line (approx 30') and rebuilt entire 17'x34' basement ceiling that was damaged due to leak. Patching was not an option. Job 2) paint high interior stairwell, kitchen and bath cabinets, deck and roof soffits Job 3) repair items on home sale inspection report

It was a horrible experience. The work was not done correctly on the first occasion which resulted in an above ground pipe being located within our driveway area and a water line that was severed being repaired with the wrong size of hose which leaked. As a result, we paid more to correct their mistakes (in hind sight, we should have refused). In addition, the power line to our water well was severed during the second occasion and although we were assured that we would be reimbursed for the repair work which we incurred that has never happened. Eventually, we went to small claims court (3 appearances). However, we learned during the process that the company was in two different names and had filed for bankruptcy. We did visit the Better Business office in Roanoke after we had filed a warrant in debt (civil claim) in the General District Court (Roanoke County) and contacted the U.S> Bankruptcy Court on the suggestion of the person with the Better Business office. The judge of the General District Court said there was nothing else we could do.

These home owners are sadly mistaken. The work they are referring to was done by Crowe Inc. and not by Crowe Services. They even tried taking us to court and the judge thru the case out and told them they were going after the wrong company. It's sad that people just try to trash other companies and don't even know what there talking about. Some people just have no clue. We strive to always do quality work and look out for our clients. These people are just barking up the wrong tree. Please check out all your information before trying to trash someones business. Thanks and have a blessed day.

We originally contacted Crowe services after having several other contractors attempt to 'find' our septic tank. They had to do a lot of work to accomplish the task, but always advised us what they needed to try next and provided good estimates. We will be their customer from now on.

They sent 2 men to repair a water leak in the main . They couldn't quote a price until they found the leak. Then they asked me what it was worth to me. They finally gave me a price of $950.00 The leak was right beside the main. They repaired the main and it didn't leak and reattached the feed line for the irrigation system (so I was told) that they removed while fixing the main. They said to call them when the dirt settled and they would come back and finish the grading. They were called on April 18 and never showed up. The edge of the box on the irrigation system was on top of the valve so it was unaccessible. The line was ran almost even with the ground which would cause it to freeze and they eliminated the line that was required to purge the system in the winter. I e-mailed them 5-26-2013 and 5-27-2013 and received no response. I called on 5-58-2013 and left voice mail and no one retured my call. I called the evening of 5-28-2013 and finally reached someone. They said they would send someone by on 5-29 or 5-30.The guy showed up on 5-30 and he had no idea how the piping was suppose to be ran so I drew him a picture. He took it with him and they called and said they would be there June 2. At that time I removed the panel cover and turned on the irrigation and water went everywhere. They had pieced together 2 pieces of PVC pipe by sliding one inside the other without any adaptor. The was also a piece of rubber installed on the PVC pipe with a radiator clamp. At this point it was apparent they had no idea of what they were doing so I called them and told them not to come back out. I now have to cut and lower the pipe, and re-pipe what they did in order to have the purge line for the system and to stop the water from leaking. Worst service I have ever had.

When the gentlemen above called his called was answered and we responded. It was handled in an appropriate manner but unfortunatly we can not make everyone happy. We were going back out as he was told and he called us and said it was taking care of. We were willing to fix it and make it right but were not given the chance . We tried doing the right thing but were not given the chance. Sorry for the inconvience.

The above clien is sadly mistaken. We do not do custom covers for any tank. We always try to get in and out on any job we do but we do run into problems with weather beyond our control, some people don't understand this. We also always tell the client to call us a few weeks after the ground has settled so we can come back and grade. If we don't get a phone call we can't follow up. Thanks

The company's customer service was nonexistent and it was a frustrating experience.
Description of Work: I had a appointment on 4/11/13, but was told they couldn't give me a time of arrival. My service was not an emergency, so I scheduled the appointment several days in advance and took a day off from work.. I called at 9:00 on the morning of the service to make sure I was on their schedule, and was assured that I was. I called again at 2:00 and was assured again that my service was scheduled, but no timetable was available. At 5:00, I called again and spoke with someone that had just come into work and said they'd look into why no one had come to my home yet. Shortly thereafter, I got a call from a technician saying that it had fallen on him to take care of my service call and that he was currently in Bedford County. He said he could get to me by about 8 PM. He said the technician that was supposed to handle my appointment didn't have my correct phone number. However, he did have the address for the service call and didn't follow up with his office to get a correct phone number. Since my service was not an emergency basis, I told him there was no need to make the trip. It was extremely poor customer service.

The customer that has made this complaint was told from the very beginning that we could not give an exact time someone would be there. It was not an emergency,as stated, so in that situation we always take care of emergency calls first. We always tell our clients that they will recieve a phone call when the tech is on the way . The proper phone calls were made and the client just didn't want someone coming out that late. We were not informed that they were taking off work that day just to be there and wait for us. If we had been informed of that we would have made other arrangements for the home owner. We try to always work around the clients schedule if we are informed with the proper information. We do apoligize for the mis-understanding and always strive for customer satisfaction.

Tidy Services' operator was diligent about completing the job, which was slow due to having to pump uphill. However, the job started out slow because at first he would not listen to me regarding the location of the septic access ! (mine is buried, 50-year-old system) Note, this may have cost more but tank had been pumped out 4 months earlier. I had not yet figured out that the transfer pipe from septic to distribution tank had become clogged, which is why i had septic pumped again so soon. Had I been diligent about pumping septic tank every 10 years the pipe never would have clogged!

When they came out to do the estimate they were 2 hours later than what was originally told, and the day they were suppose to do the work no one showed up or called. My husband called and was told that an employee had a broken leg and they will need to reschedule but as I stated my husband had to call, but I will say once they came out they did a good job and we were please with the work performed.

hey told us they would need to replace the pump for $1900
Description of Work: Our septic alarm kept going off. The first visit, which was after a two day wait, a man came late in the afternoon and said he didn't have time to fix it that day, but we were charged $150 for the house call. The second day, a new man came out and emptied our septic tank (cost=$310), even though it had just been emptied 4 months before. The third time, we were told there didn't seem to be anything wrong, even though the alarm had gone off again, and we were charged $180 more for the visit. The final time someone came out, they said they'd need to replace the septic pump and that it would cost $1900! We decided to get a second opinion. The new company's representative was flabbergasted at what we'd been through and ended up replacing two float valves, which fixed the whole problem. Stay away from Crowe!

Unfortunataly we can not please everyone even though we try. We were not giving all of the correct information from the home owner which is why things happened the way they did. When we are called out to a site there are certain things that are requested from the client so we can do our job, when we are not given all the info and mislead that results in problems for both parties. As far as our costs we always try to inform our clients of costs even before we come out. The materials and equipment we use for sites is also different then a lot of other companies. There are a lot of companies that are using sub par supplies and the home owner ends up paying more in the long run. We are sorry for any inconvience and we always put our best foot forward. Thanks and be blessed.

Septic tank pumped.
Description of Work: The office staff was very nice, professional and knowledgable. The technician was polite, professional and very patient when he explained things to me. I didn't have a major problem, rather I was just having mine pumped the technician did share with me information about my septic tank as well as do's and don't's. My home and tank are old (35+ years) and I was concerned about issues I may have but was unaware of. I was also concerned that unnecessary repairs/replacements may be suggested because I am a single female. That was NOT the case. Clearly this is an honest company that I would recommend to anyone. I was very pleased!

The employee who dug up the ground to install the manhole did contact Miss Utility before he dug. Because of negligence on the part of Miss Utility, a gas line was cut and the gas company called out. This caused a one day delay for completion of the job. I also didn't think it should have cost so much. When a machine is used to dig, I don't think they should charge 25 dollars a foot. I thought that charge was for manual labor. The price quoted on the phone seemed to be less than what I paid. But, I would use this company again. Next time it will be cheaper since there will be no digging involved.
Description of Work: The company emptied the septic tank and for an additional fee, they suggested installing a pipe/manhole to prevent further future digging. They did install. It doesnt look the best quality, but as long as it works I'll be ok with it. It will be more convenient in the future so I recommend having it installed to anyone who has their access to the tank underground.

My husband really liked this technician. He learned a lot about this septic system--our first--and it made us feel at ease to know it was a big tank (1500 gallons), plenty large enough for our home's needs.
Description of Work: We had just purchased our home and thought it would be a good idea to have the septic tank located and emptied. The technician arrived on time and was very courteous. He worked hard to locate the tank which was buried under 2 feet of snow and 2-1/2 feet of dirt. He gave us details about how our system was operating and made us feel at ease that it was operating as designed.

It went very well. The technicians were courteous and helpful. We would have liked to see them secure the new pipe run to the wall rather than having to do it ourselves. It was loose but the technicians didn't have the clamps they needed on the truck. Overall, we were pleased with the work quality and would use them again.
