They were referred to me by a friend more than 15 years ago. Everything was very, very well done by Corell Electrical. They were very prompt, very professional and did a first-rate job. They were very clean and very neat. They were in and out. I have nothing to complain about. There's one thing that really does stand out in my mind and this goes back a long way. The business is owned by Rick Corell and I called Rick to come by my house and look at something. It was a new house to us, but it was an older house and the appliances were shorting out and Rick found a very unsafe preexisting condition inside a utility quarters. There was an ungrounded wire and he stayed well past 5'o clock and fixed this problem. The thing that makes an even more remarkable stand staying after 5 is that it was the day before Christmas Eve. He really didn't even ask me if he could fix the problem. The tone of the conversation was like he was not going home until it was fixed because it was dangerous and he fixed the problem.
Description of Work: I used the services of Corell Electrical Contractors Inc probably 4 months ago. They installed electrical outlets; they put in some bathroom ceiling fans and connected a cook top.

They are great electricians. We have only used them once. They found a different way to do the work than the others. They brought things that were totally up to code. They were great. I'm definitely going to use them from now on. We have tried other companies, but had issues with other things. We had to wait for ten days with other companies to schedule them.
Description of Work: We used Corell Electrical Contractors Inc. to get our electrical upgraded for a central air unit. They had to figure out where to run the lines in the outside compressor and where to put them in the attic. There were also other things that we wanted them to fix in the house.

I have two expesive lights that have shorted out since using the electrical in this home. I hired Corell Electric to come fix the electrical panel. He had improperly grounded the electrical panel that was connected to the hot pipe of my water heater. It should have been grounded to the cold pipe. Any basic electrician should know that. Now, this is going to cost me a new water heater on top of the two lamps. I would like them to come back and correct the work, refund my money, and pay for a new water heater.
Description of Work: I hired them to ground an electrical panel and additional outlets.

I have all the notes from the DPOR and when all is said and done, they did not care about the time and labor issues. They did tell them they could be fined for using the wrong paperwork, but as far as I know, they were never fined. Corell Elctrical never tried to adjust the charges even after all the evidence pointed to crooked/corrupt billing. Mr Corell did not care about righting a wrong. I contacted the BBB. They were worthless because there were violations that they could not help with and it seemed to me that they were not interested in helping me because this company was not a paid member. But, even after all of this is said and done, the BBB did list the complaint, but to this date they maintain a B plus rating. Good to know a company can steal from you, break the law and get a B plus rating!!!) I believe they did get rid of the employee they were paying under the table. But, they still charged me 119.50 per hour for those three men.
Description of Work: We contacted the contractor to replace and install a new electrical panel, change two prong outlets to three prong (which would require grounding) and have them install recessed lighting along with new switches. I was charged for three electricians for 4 hours and 2 electricians for 16 hours. During the total of 20 hours, the lead electrician had been called away to another job for almost 4-6 hours. I was still charged for his being at my house. In addition to that, the 3rd "electrician" was not even an electrician. He was not an employee, but was a helper who was being paid under the table. (Believe it or not, they paid him right in front of me) This "helper" boasted to me before I got my invoice that he was also collecting Social Security while being paid under the table by this company. Life is good for him! When I received the Job Invoice, I disputed it. The labor did not add up accurately and as I said, they charged me for three employees, when only two worked for the company. In addition to that, under the description of work, it said I was charged for installation of smoke detectors. This never happened. When I brought this up to the company I was told, it all worked out because there were some things not listed that I was not charged for. In addition to that I found out that they had changed the 2 prong to 3 prong, but they did not run the ground wire. All they did was change the plastic coverings. I contacted the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. When all was said and done, the DPOR informed the contractor that they were in violation because they were using a contract that was not in compliance. From what I read in the notes, Mr Corell informed the DPOR that a handshake was what he always used in place of paperwork mandated by the DPOR. No fine, just a slap on the wrist. The DPOR sent them a template to conform with regulations. The DPOR also verified that the company did not take out the required permit. Again, no big deal because they complied. The DPOR told me the money matter was a civil matter and they could not help me there. Correll electric was required by law to take out a permit before they installed a new electrical panel. It was only because the Roanoke inspector was at my house was checking the work of another contractor when he spotted the problem. otherwise I would have never had known. The inspector asked to see additional work done by Correll and after checking it, he informed me that the wiring in the attic had to be fixed and the insulation was too close to the recessed lighting.
