Collegiate Movers

hired in october to move a bedroom set 15 miles. set valued approx 10k. broke the headboard, scratched the armoire and the door frames in the house. stated they couldnt find anyone to repair furniture ( not that you can repair when wood is broken in half) offered a refund and nothing else...but after 2 months...still no refund and they are avoiding my calls.

Great experience. Polite friendly workers, punctual, quick work, and no damage. Came in under estimate. Would recommend Collegiate movers for any large or small move!

After doing a complete walk-through of the house for which my father was present though I was not, they gave an estimate that was in my budget though other movers quoted twice as much. I relied on online reviews and hired them. Upon completion of the move, they charged my double the quote saying they had underestimated my household goods. They give you 7 days to unpack when industry standard is 30, and when I had unpacked I found >$1500 worth of damage to my things. They came and assessed the damage - took photos and a copy of the letter my antique repair expert had prepared. Adrian initially verbally agreed to compensate $2000 over a few months for damage and over billing, but he did not follow through and stopped returning my calls and texts. I filed with the BBB, and he agreed in writing to pay $1000 but again failed to follow through. He then stopped communicating with the BBB. I once again reached out to Collegiate Movers, and Adrian agreed to send me a check for $1500. There was drama associated with that check, but the long and short is that I was able to recover a portion of what they owed to me for overcharging the job and damaging to my household goods.

Collegiate Movers did a great job! We moved to a 3rd floor apartment with extra stairs just to get to the 1st floor. Not once did they complain, not even about the heat! They were professional and efficient completing the move in 2 hours which was impressive going up those stairs. I was expecting it to take longer than it did because of the weather (about 90 that day), but they stayed right in the quoted amount of time. Great job! I would definitely hire them again.

Great, I would use collegiate anytime I needed anything moved whether it's from my upstairs floor to the downstairs floor or moving from one house to another. These guys are very professional there on time and They don't waste time.😊

Have a minimum hourly rate that exceeded my needs and even though I was willing to pay it, scheduling was difficult. Both times I used them, movers arrived and told me they could do it cheaper if I called them privately and left their numbers.

These three men where all very pleasant and professional especially the lead man (Austin) who kept things moving along smoothly and I would readily hire this company again based on their performance. They did arrive about 30 minutes later than originally estimated but many factors can be behind this that may not have been under this crews control and I didn't ask for an explanation.

The movers were running a little late, but they called to let me know. They were very pleasant, professional, and efficient. There was only one small ding on one of the walls, but otherwise, they did a great job keeping the walls, floors, and doors from getting damaged. All of our belongings fared well, too. We ultimately chose Collegiate because they were less expensive than the other moving companies that gave us quotes and because of their good reviews and recommendations. If I were moving again, I would hire them.

Their price was competitive. I was talking about an guy for an appointment at 9:30, and they guys came at 9:00. The guys are paid by the time they leave. So, it started at 9:00. They were punctual, they were there pretty early. One of the three guys were really nice. The other were not really good at their jobs. They broke a couple of pieces of furniture. Chipped the legs. Broke the bolt on the thing. The worst part about it, the whole three and a half hours, they kept reminding me to give them a tip. Every time I would pass them, they kept asking for an tip. I gave them a tip, and didn't realize stuff was broken until after the fact. Different pieces of furniture was broken. They just kept saying we going to look after you, and make sure you look after us at the end of the day. I knew what they were talking about.

It went great. They were very careful and efficient getting everything moved.

The three men who showed up were very professional and on time. They worked fast and worked hard at making sure everything was packed properly.

The two gentlemen who moved me were excellent. They were onsite early, which was great. They loaded quickly, carrying multiple boxes or items at a time. Handled things with care. Helped me add legs to tables and set them up. Great service and very affordable price. I would highly recommend them.

These guys were great! The price was reasonable, they were right on time, kept in touch with me during the trip, did a great job taking care of by belongings during loading and unloading, and were very friendly and professional. I would most definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone for their moving needs!

They arrived on time with adequate equipment and manpower. Since they charge by the hour for local moves (I moved 20 miles), I expected slow service, but was pleased with the speed of the men. There was great attention to details especially pointing out to me areas where I might be concerned. The whole process was transparent from estimate to delivery. The cost was fair. The only negative I would offer is that they took the longer route from point A to point B, thus adding some time to the project. Would recommend them without hesitation. JND

Started off a little shakey. Had no problem getting them to house to do assessment but they never gave us the estimate until 2 phone calls. Now the good, they moved us on a Sunday showed up on time and immediately introduced themselves. Worked extremely hard, as we had heavy furniture and lots of tortuous stairs. The crew was very polite and tried very hard not to damage anything. Very impressed with the moving crew.

The movers with an appropriate sized truck and a sufficient crew showed up about 15 minutes early. Not typical for movers I can assure you from past moves. They loaded up the truck swiftly, but carefully. They worked around a scheduling problem that was MY issue, not their problem and were amiable about it. They promptly moved all the items into my new house... a few of the items were very heavy but there was no grumbling. Even though they were exhausted by the end of the day the movers cheerfully assisted my wife in placing the heavier items exactly where she wanted them. This is a little thing, but a big thing to us as later on I would not be able to move them by myself nor would my wife. I was charged a very fair price for the move and Greg's crew did a great job. I would use them again in a second for a future move and that may well happen. Thanks to Collegiate Movers a stressful day was as low stress as a move can be.

Moving stinks--let's acknowledge that much. But Adrian, Troy and the gang did a great job taking some of the misery out of this difficult process. These guys are refreshingly informal, yet stick to their commitments. At the last minute, a change in my situation forced us to have to reschedule the move. I am sure they were not happy about it, but they made it happen. They were careful with my things and there was absolutely not loitering, lollygagging, goofing off or wasting time for either the picking up crew or the dropping off crew. Their entire crew are professional, friendly and hardworking. These guys rocked!!

Highly recommend this company. Quote given over phone and they got the move done within this time.

1) I had the owner do the in home estimate and he was very professional. I expanded the things being moved by phone and they said they would send a second truck and one more mover. 2) The movers came to Lynchburg from Roanoke and got lost. I suspect they did not get lost but just got a late start. Bottom line is that they were almost an hour late. They brought two trucks. 3) Crew chief was initially friendly but developed an "attitude" as the day wore on. 4) The actual Move: a) We asked them to move only the furniture for about 8 rooms and a finished basement. b) They did not wrap anything with anything! They just picked it up and carried it out to the truck. No dollys were used just brute strength. Apparently once in the truck the packer used some packing blankets.They scratched one mirror on our expensive master bed headboard because of failure to wrap correctly. c) They filled one truck fairly quickly and then slowly started filling the other truck. d) They said they were done and ready to go about 2 1/2 hours later. I went down to the basement and there was at least 1/4 of a truckload of household items including a heavy box they did not take. e) When asked the crew chief he responded "with attitude" that they had filled up two trucks and had no more room. This was a complete lie. I checked the second truck and they did not pack it for all the material we had. At that there was stll at least a 1/4 truck space available. The crew chief said they were done and were leaving and would not be taking the rest of the items. f) At the new house things went fairly well until the end where the crew chief said he could not bring items to the second story because the doors were too small. That was a crock. g) We had the house staged for the movers and asked that things be put in garage, house, attic and shed. Toward the end they just put everything in the garage. What a mess that became! h) The crew was great except for the crew leader and I even gave them a tip because they were doing their best with a positive attitude. Subsequently we had friends with pickups and trailers take the remainder of the household items left by the movers to othe new house. That was a major pain especially with the heavy items. I called the President and he apologized and later came out and moved some of the remaining big items into our upstairs room. No compensation was offered for the poor effort of the inital crew chief and the mess we had to navigate including doing a mini move of our own with the stuff they left. I will give them credit for trying to make things right but most of the problems could not be rectified because they came out a week later and we had already finished the job of moving and organizing. The President said he was going to replace the crew chief based on this experience but I have no way of knowing if that happened. Thanks Dr John Brunstetter

The move was very professional. It was completed in a timely fashion. Nothing was damaged during the move. The movers took great precaution to prevent damage to the furniture and our wooden floor.
