I am another witness to this company owner's attacks on a competitor in the Roanoke, VA area. He presented himself as a "musician" while accusing a fully LICENSED competitor of doing work illegally. His accusations were removed by the NextDoor App, a local site where neighbors and friends look out for each other. His comments were removed, but I have proof in screenshots. He was only "outed" as a competitor when some of his neighbors did some research on the VA DPOR site. No, I've never had work done, but I feel it is my civic duty to make others aware that he is NOT an honest individual. I would not recommend a business whose owner feels it appropriate to try to destroy the reputation of competitors in his own county. I do not believe he would appreciate that type of treatment. A person's actions speak louder than their words, or in this case, his advertisement. While he may have "satisfied customers", he does not have the right to "steal" business from other licensed competitors by slander. Our neighbors have a right to choose a business without competitors spreading falsehoods. Nothing short of a written public apology is due from James Lagueux. I am NEITHER a friend or a family member of the person Mr. Lagueux posted untrue comments towards. Please consider not only price, but the CHARACTER of the person/business you hire. Thanks!

James Lagueux, the owner of veteran owned and operated American Heating and Air on Cottonhill Road in Roanoke, spent several days publicly bashing a very well-liked and respected licensed master tradesman (it’s one thing to pose questions or make comments for people to think about, it’s another to bash). His bashing occurred on a prominent site where neighbors help one another. First of all, James said he did a search of the State Licensing website and found the man he was bashing was not licensed. That was FALSE. The man was licensed. When confronted that his statement was false, James went on to find more ways to bash the man. He publicly called the man and anyone who used him criminals. James was asked publicly if he was a tradesman. His reply was that he was a musician. Come to find out he is the owner and operator of American Heating and Air. So he publicly bashed the man, covering up that he too was in the same business. He was bashing his competitor. So he lied about his HVAC business and background and publicly tore down another respected tradesman. He was reported to the site as abusive. He is no longer a member of that site. This all says a lot about James’ character and honesty. I want people I hire to work on my home to have good character, have good credibility and to be honest. How are his skills and honesty on the job? I don’t know and don’t plan to find out. Character and honesty are 2 values I require and find him to be lacking.

Out of 9 companies I contacted over the weekend or on Monday morning, this is the only company who could get to my heat pump the same day. They arrived well before noon and resolved the problem quickly. The unit is now cooling better than before the leak occurred. American will be my first call in the future.

James will come to anytime you need him and he always tells you what you will need. I have used him for about three years. I will never call any one else.

They do a really good job. They are very reliable and very honest. I have used them several times; I have an older home with an old system. I felt like I wasn’t overcharged and that they didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need.

Overall the experience went very well. Definitely work calling and getting a quote!
