 + -1 moreThey arrived within the time frame they estimated, were friendly and polite, took their time and did a very professional job. The repair work they did on the masonry has a 10 year guarantee. The flue cleaning was $234 for 2 flues, the cap repair was $200. We would highly recommend this business to anyone needing chimney service.
Description of Work: Cleaned both fireplace and wood stove flues and repaired the masonry cap on the chimney/

 + 0 moreOverall we had been pleased with the chimney sweeps for 8 years. It did take a while to get them here every year, but we continues to use them until 2010. All we are asking is a little respect and to return my phone call.
Description of Work: My husband and I have used Affordable Sweeps since we bought our house in 2002. We had only used them for cleaning/sweeping the chimney every year. We had been getting 10% off because we were good clients. They were always here and cleaned up after themselves. Then 2 years ago we notice the fire bricks in the back of the fire box were loose, so we called for them to fix the problem. They did come and replace the brick, a few days later after we had a few fires, my husband noticed the bricks were loose again. We called them back to correct the problem. It took a while to get them back, and the guy that came to fix it asked me if we were burning the fire "too hot". I was a bit confused with the question. How do I control how hot the fire gets???? He also seemed to be irratated that he had to do the work again. We said we would not use them again, because it too forever for them to call us back and fix the problem, but we thought we would try one more time. So I called them Monday and left a message to schedule a sweep, but I have yet to get a return call. I am done with them. We thought since we have been using them for 10 years they would try to keep us as a client, but they have lost us.

 + 0 moreFor the past 2 1/2 months I have been calling to have this faulty repair work corrected. The maddening part is the owner has told me or my wife 3-4 times that he would be out the next day or next week to fix the problem. He never shows up and never calls to reschedule. It is apparent after a dozen or so phone calls it is apparent that this business is not going to honor it's contract and has decided to simply ignore the situation. I have now requested a refund and have filed a complaint with the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation - interesting their website shows the contractor license as being suspended. I am in the process of making a Better Business Bureau complaint. I would not recommend this company for any services.
Description of Work: They came out to do a chimney sweep, flashing repair and crown repair. The crown is the ongoing problem. They re-mortared the crown when the weather was in the mid to low 30's. What started out as a single crack is now 16 cracks and they refuse to fix the problem.

 + -1 moreVery poor. Men were unprofessional and I would never have them back in my home.
Description of Work: Two men showed up, both very dirty for early in the morning. One removed a stove pipe immediately said I needed a chimney liner which would be $3000.00. He did not even view the entire chimney. He then said he would mail me an estimate, which never arrived. Frankly, it didn't matter because I called another sweep who reviewed, told me all was fine and completed the sweep.

 + -1 moreTechnician owner arrived late. He was dressed sloppy and his clothes were dirty. He took stove pipe away from wall and immediately said the chimney was unsafe and that it would be $3,000 to repair. I found this unusual because the other sweeps had not reported an issue in past years and were much more professional. I didn not him to sweep/clean the chimney as I lost faith in him during the first 5 minutes. I contacted an actual mason to review/inspected; he looked at the entire chimney and cleaned it. He stated it was one of the cleanest he had seen in 45 years. I feel Affordable Sweeps is dishonest and unprofessional.
