Description of Work: Poured a new walkway which is falling apart. Having a new one poured this weekend by someone who knows what they are doing. The clearing of the brush and tree trimming was done well. No complaints on that portion of the work. They need to stick to tree work.

He gave me a quote on removing 2 very large trees. I agreed, he said he would be here on a specific date, that date came and HE CALLED because it was raining. He rescheduled, came out as promissed with a very large staff and he stayed to supervise. Very impressed and do recommend them for large or small.
Description of Work: Take down and remove large tries

The price is good and it’s real competitive. He shows up with about 12, 15 20 people, they come in like a swarm of ants. A few years ago he painted my house, the whole house, and replaced all wood that needed replacing. They’d just come in and do the whole thing. And they’re usually doing two or three jobs in the neighborhood at the same time. I feel total confidence in his climber, the guy that goes up the top of the tree and cuts off pieces and drops them down. They’ve never injured anyone. This tree he cut down in my neighbor’s yard, I have about an eight-foot fence around my backyard because the guy that used to own the house had big dogs, they dropped these big, huge logs down and if any one of them had hit the fence it would have taken it down. I’ve seen him cut trees and drop them between two houses. I have total confidence in his work, he’s really good. If I called Bobby up right now and told him I had to have a tree cut in the next couple of days, then he would be here. I would definitely use him again in the future if I needed to.
Description of Work: I’ve used Bobby of Bailey's Tree And Landscaping for several years. I live in an old neighborhood with big old trees. My neighbor behind me had a huge tree that was hanging over my house and I’d been trying to get him to cut it down for several years, and finally I sent Bobby over there. I called him up and asked him when he was going to cut that tree down and he asked me if I would pay $500 toward cutting the tree down and I said yes I would; it would be better than the tree falling on my house. So Bobby charged him $1300 of which I paid $500, and then Bobby also cleaned up all the leaves and stuff around my house since I hadn’t done any leaf stuff and that was another $600; so I paid Bobby $1100 and that guy paid him $800. So it was about $1300 to $1400 for a big tree. I had actually paid the guy back then another $500 for another tree, plus and the guy next door to him another $500, so I paid $1500 for my neighbors to cut down trees. But that’s better than having the tree fall through your house. And Bobby comes around every couple of years and he has cut down several other trees. I’ve gotten all of my big trees out of here because after a tree is 50 years old it is very dangerous.

The sod is dead. The juniper is dead. And you could break an ankle walking on the yard.
Description of Work: Bailey's business card doesn't give his address, so I can't give a location for his business. But his workers say he lives out near Old Rag Mountain, which is near Shenandoah National Park. He does a lot of work in Prince William County, and because of the distance, his crews never arrive before 10:00 am. He has cut down trees for me on a couple of previous occasions and I was satisfied. His card implies he does everything outdoors, so on this job I hired him to remove 3 trees in order to open the front yard up to the sun, transplant a juniper bush, take out about 9 tons of stone that was previously installed as a dry creek bed, lay a drainage pipe where the creek had been, and prepare the front lawn area (about 2200 square feet) for sod. He didn't prepare the old soil (aerate, add nutrients) well enough. He didn't fill in the dry creek bed area with enough new soil. He didn't level out the entire area. And he didn't roll the sod after installing it. Also, he laid sod that had thin fescue which is cold weather sod, not very sun tolerant. Obviously, I wasn't aware of these requirements until after the job was done. My problem. The juniper bush died. As I was watering the sod early on, I noticed water would drain out of the drainage pipe. And it's not perforated pipe. There's a break in the line somewhere. The thing about Bobby Bailey is (and again this is my problem), he doesn't give a receipt for his work, so you can't even prove he did it. He's like this transient who travels around drumming up work from neighbors as he does some job or other. This is an example of how NOT to hire a contractor.
