I was pleased with the knowledge, experience and professionalism of the technician, Scotty, who replaced our water heater and I would not hesitate to recommend him and Woodfin. The installation, as well as draining and removing the old water heater, was done in less than a day. The final charge was exactly as estimated and was a good value. I would much rather pay a little more and be confident in the quality and timeliness of the installation than go with the cheapest price and have a less than satisfactory installation. Due to unavailability of a State brand water heater to fit into our closet space, the installation could not be scheduled for 2 days until a unit could be ordered, but once the appointment was scheduled, the technician arrived on time and did a neat and efficient installation. The State unit that I wanted, with a 10 year warranty, did not arrive on the day expected, so the technician worked with the supply house to find another unit (a 6 year warranty rather than 10 year) that would fit into our closet space so that we would not be without hot water over the weekend. Pros: -Professional and experienced technician, licensed and bonded. We had confidence in his level of knowledge. He took time to explain what he was doing and why. He listened to our concerns and addressed them. He had all required tools and equipment on his truck. -Pricing is by the type of job being done rather than an hourly rate. Woodfin has fixed pricing by job, so the estimate exactly matched the final charge. They did not try to add extras to inflate the price as some others do. -Drained and removed old water heater from a tight space and cleaned up the area. -Took the time to explain what he was doing and why. Gave us useful information and helpful hints. -Competently adjusted piping to fit the new water heater fittings.The new unit was slightly taller and wider than our old one. -The new water heater is working perfectly. We are completely satisfied. Other: -Took 2 days before water heater could be replaced and we were without hot water and had the old unit continuing to leak during that time which was an inconvenience. Background: Water Heater standards were changed in April 2015, and our old water heater failed in May 2015, so we were in need of a water heater at a time when dealers were trying to use up their old stock and hadn't yet received new stock. The new standards resulted in changes in unit size so that the new units are different sizes and prices than the old units. When I originally called Woodfin, they thought they could do the replacement that same day, but once they got the details of our space requirements, they found that neither they or their local supplier had a State water heater in stock to fit in our closet, and a water heater would have to be ordered and would take 2 days to arrive. I asked for a 10 year warranty unit as I didn't want to have another water heater fail anytime soon. The 10 year water heater did not arrive on the day promised, and since we had been without hot water for several days, we felt fortunate that the technician was able to locate a 6 year water heater and install that instead. The job price was reduced to account for the lower cost of the 6-yr water heater. I was disappointed that we weren't able to get the 10-yr unit, but happy that we had hot water again. During the 2 days we were waiting, we were constantly having to bail out the aluminum pan under our old water heater and clean up water on the floor. We were not able to drain the water heater on our own due to the water heater being jammed into a closet where we could not get to the drain fitting to connect a hose to it. That was a job that we definitely needed an experienced technician for. -Estimate you receive is a total by job, and does not include a breakdown of what portion is for equipment and what is for labor. This is not a problem but I'm mentioning it because it may make it harder to compare if you are getting multiple estimates.

Always professional and on time. You can call a supervisor to talk but the guys who come out are knowledgable.
Description of Work: For $197, I get my a/c checked plus some of service guarantee. They come out for free and I would only pay for parts. So reliable that I pay them the extra. In the hottest day in August, my heat pump/air conditioner died. They came at 8:00 am on a Sunday morning. When I bought the new unit from them, I paid a little extra but their service is worth it to me.

The furnace and split installations were each done in a very professional and workman-like manner. The actual cost was as estimated and the projects were finished on time. We also use them for annual maintenance and are very pleased.

I could not have been more pleased. My kitchen faucet started to leak water when used (the hose, part of the pull down function) which pooled inside the cabinet underneath the sink. I called Woodfin and they said they could have a plumber to my house the next day. It was scheduled for the afternoon but they called in the morning and said they could be there then due to a cancellation. Scotty, the plumber, inspected the leak and thought a new "O" ring would fix it. He replaced the "O" ring, but it did not do the trick. Closer inspection revealed that something inside the hose at the crimp location was broken causing the water to leak. He removed the faucet and replaced it with one I had bought the night before at Lowe's. The installation went smoothly and without issue. Faucet works fine and no more leaking. Scotty was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable--a super professional in my book. The cost was very fair. I have used Woodfin in the past for plumbing work on three occasions and when the kitchen faucet went bad I did not hesitate to call them. A great company with great people doing great work. They are always my first choice.

Some friends of ours had Woodfin install gas logs the previous year and were very happy with the service they provided, so we called them too. The salesman came to our house, measured both fireplaces, explained what would be required for the job and answered all our questions. The price was about what we had expected, so we placed the order. The plumbers came first to install the gas lines and place the gas tank. The workers were down to business, placed tarps, etc., around our floors to reduce the dust and mess, and cleaned up after themselves when they were done. Next, the installers came with the actual log sets. Again, they got right down to business, protecting our floors and carpeting, and cleaned up after themselves. Then they took the time to fully explain the logs to us, how to use them, light the pilots, etc., answer all our questions and address/correct any issues we had. Very happy with the customer service provided by all parties involved. Would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Run copper piping and install 2 sets of LP gas logs in masonry fireplaces.

The chimney cleaner arrived on time, didn't "rush" the job, and was responsive to my questions and concerns. I'm not sure that I got the price right (above) ... I don't remember exactly, but it certainly was affordable. He was cautious not to damage my roof shingles with his ladder (the last chimney cleaner dented some shingles and never mentioned it!). He also told me that I shouldn't need another cleaning for a couple of years, as I'd been burning dry wood and the chimney wasn't very dirty. All-in-all, I had absolutely no complaints with this fellow!

Terribly, to sum up. We were dealing with some very cold and bad weather which delayed things, but not to the extent that it is still delayed. We are in week 4 now of waiting for completion of a project that we were told would take 3-4 days to be completed (back in February). The problem really seems to be communication within Woodfin and communication with us (the customer). Apparently when the original work order was filled out, part of the project was assigned to the wrong department. That department doesn't know how to do that type of work (nor would I want them to), but it apparently is too hard for Plumbing to reach out to HVAC and get them involved so we can move along, and apparently it is also too hard to call the comfort advisor that originally wrote the order and get him to correct it. The rest of the work we need done is dependent on HVAC (or whoever) coming out to do the venting for the water heater and the range. So, while they sit around and argue over who is supposed to be doing what, I have a water heater sitting in my garage waiting to be hooked up, a microwave sitting in my dining room waiting to be hooked up, and a bunch of holes in my wall that are costing me money letting all my heat out from where they started wiring or running lines for things they couldn't finish. We finally got our stove installed after waiting almost 2 weeks for them to come and run the electrical and piping for it, the only reason that got done was because we threw a fit at them and demanded they come out, as we had let the store haul away our old one thinking we would have a new one within 3 days. Apparently there was some issue with permits from the county that held them back, but honestly, they could have just told us that instead of leaving us for 2 weeks without any way of cooking any food, and no information about when/if they were coming back to finish. At no point did they update us on status either while this debacle was being "handled", they just showed up one day to do it without even telling us anything. We call them multiple times a week trying to get info on when they will finish this up, always get the run around and the same answer. Even our original sales person has stopped calling us back promptly because I think he is embarrassed (I really hope he is). The remainder of the work is something that would take 2 days at most, if they would just come out and finish it. it's to the point where I'm thinking about getting another provider out here to finish what they started because I am so tired of playing this game. Avoid them if you can for a large scale project, I think they will do ok for smaller, single department things, but when you are involving multiple departments, think twice, they don't have the infrastructure for that kind of nonsense.
Description of Work: Supposedly, they were going to install gas piping for my whole house, install a new water heater and vent it, install a hood vent and above the range microwave oven. They also were going to install my new gas stove. So far, the only thing that has gotten 100% done is the stove, even the gas piping still has some areas that aren't 100% completed.

My 11-year-old York gas furnace failed to come on for the third time in this very cold weather. Called Woodfin and Dave came out very quickly and in the freezing rain with dangerous road conditions. He temporarily fixed the heater so that I would not be without heat overnight as the only local parts distributor had closed early due to the inclement weather. At 9:00 the next morning, he procured the part and returned to my home and replaced the malfunctioning part. He explained everything and how it worked and also gave me some information about my hot water heater as well. I was very pleased with the prompt service I received from Woodfin and would use them again.

V disappointed in Woodfin. WE have been w/ them for years for fuel oil and furnace Maintenance. We liked them so much we went w/ them when they expanded into plumbing. They have been v good ( on the whole) for furnace maintenance, but we had to insist on one of the Woodfin family to do our work after one of their employees (we believe) screwed up our air conditioner and then denied it. Ended up costing us plenty. We ran out of oil already this year, although they were prompt coming out to refill and start up the furnace. Their fuel oil prices have stayed high despite the huge drop in oil prices. We went w/ a maintenance plan for plumbing, making regular payments and expecting reduced prices for the work. We have an older home and assumed this would be a reasonable way to go. But they still charged an arm and a leg for simple repairs such as snaking out drains.

Communication was excellent. We had previously gotten a quote for the work during our annual inspection and Chris quickly returned my call when I was ready to set up an appointment. The technician called ahead of time to note that he would be arriving soon and was very professional. He was able to complete the work quickly and everything is working great again.

William had done the electrical inspection that is part of our service contract with Woodfin. At that time, he had recommended the surge protector for the whole house. This has a warranty with it if it should fail. I work from home and have several APC battery back-up surge protectors for my office. However, these APC units have an alarm that sounds when the power goes off and it makes my dog crazy. Also, over time, the APC units need replacement. For a little more than one of the APC units, we got the whole house protector. While William was here, I had him provide a price to install another circuit to my office. We live in an old renovated house so the additional circuit may not be the easiest job but I am please with the quote. I think we will have that work done too.

Jesse arrived at the appointed time. He was so nice and all work was performed properly and professionally. All of his suggestions I approved and I am glad that I did. Thank you Jesse for your good ideas. The kitchen is so much brighter and outdoor lighting is also brighter. I will certainly ask for Jesse when calling Woodfin for electrical work from now on.
Description of Work: Removed existing under cabinet light fixtures and installed more efficient and brighter fixtures. Jesse recommended the type of new fixtures to get. He was right. My kitchen is so much brighter. He also replaced over cabinet florescent tubes. Also, he replaced bulbs in motion detectors with more efficient one and checked to be sure that the fixtures were working correctly..

They are very responsive. They are very punctual. They left the area clean. The repairs on the furnace just took a couple of hours. They are prompt, professional, and pricey. They know what they are doing but are not the cheapest.

I initially called Revere and would not get a call back. Even went by their office. Finally I gave up on them and called Woodfin. They responded right away, scheduled someone to come out. Salesman was very professional and informative. Technician was very professional and also informative and helpful. I would recommend Woodfin to everyone.

Heat went off in the night. Called Woodfin first thing in the morning. Said they would send someone that day. They called me 30 minutes before serviceman would arrive. When he arrived he tested the system. The pressure had built up and the system needed to be reset. He ran it at a higher than normal setting for a while and monitored it. All seemed fine and it was back and running. He educated me on my system and told me I had 30 days if there were any more problems I wouldn't have to pay for the service fee again. Overall very knowledgeable and very professional. I am happy with the service

We had been trying to get a sulphur smell out of our water system since the VA earthquake in 2011. It cost us a fortune, and nothing seemed to work. When we looked at estimates for the latest attempt, two of the three companies we approached offered more of the same - change filtration system, change water heater, flush lines, all the stuff that did not work. Woodfin did not follow that approach. They really listened to what the problem was and what had been tried, then they went away and did some research. Their proposed solution was the installation of an Air Micronizer. The explanation made sense so we gave them the go-ahead. They arrived on time, the job took as long as expected, there have been no callbacks, and most important from our perspective, it worked. It is nearly a year since they performed the work and there has been no resumption of the problem. They really did a great job for us and I would not hesitate to call them again next time we have a tough problem.

They came when they said they were going to come and they were very nice. They have been around a good while. The pricing was okay but I don't know what to compare it to. Another company I used before didn't do this type of work. They were very responsive.
Description of Work: They found a water leak that they fixed and they reset the toilet.
