+ -1 moreKnowledgeable, trustworthy and honest! This is where Subaru owners should take their Subaru for repair and maintenance! After I purchased a used Subaru in December 2017 I began using this shop and although I do most of my own general maintenance this is still where I take my Subaru for major repairs! When I've spoken to other customers there they're always sharing with me how satisfied they are with the service they've received here. I was told that I had bad head gaskets at another shop, but found out that I only need an O-ring to repair an oil leak and this is just one of the reasons that I'll continue to take my Subaru here from now on!
Description of Work: Check engine light, oil leak.

+ 0 moreThe a/c failed a week later, I was out $92 dollars, and didn't have time to drop my car off for another 7-14 days for service. This guy has a good reputation, but I was honestly disappointed
Description of Work: Dropped my car off on a Friday morning... They said they wiuld get me in and touch base with me Wednesday , I called on Friday after not hearing back and they told me what had to be done. I had my ac system fixed. When I picked up my car, Eric said my car just needed to be recharged. $92. The a/c stopped working a week later. Started blowing hot air again.

+ -1 moreEric was wonderful!! Honest and upfront.... He went above and beyond. The repairs were performed on my son's vehicle. A AAA approved repair shop had given him an estimate of $7-9K! His turnaround time is not the fastest, but that is because he is so much in demand. But he lets you know ahead of time as to how long it will take so that there are no surprises. Will keep using him as long as the Subaru runs.... Very impressed!

Description of Work: Eric replaced the engine with a used engine on my daughters 2009 impresa due to ring problems. It took him about 2 weeks, and when I got it home a noticed it was leaking oil, took it back and he fixed it right away at no cost (it was a value cover that came with the used engine). He did a great job, and 5 months later it is still running strong

+ -1 moreGreat! I was distraught over Pence Subaru's quote for $2900.00 to replace the head gasket, I knew they were way overpriced based on previous quotes I've had. I found out about Subie Guy and he did a lot more work for a whole lot less. I'll never go back Pence Subaru b/c I found the Subie Guy.

+ -1 moreThe Subie Guy (aka Eric Hicks) was recommended to me by one Subaru dealership's mechanic and another Subaru dealership's salesman. He has taken care of two of my Subaru's for a couple of years, ever since those recommendations. These repairs were only the latest in a series of problems he had identified. He looked the car over thoroughly several visits back and prioritized the work required to ensure a safe vehicle. The more pressing needs had been resolved in the earlier visits. The head gasket work was done quickly with no surprises on my part. Eric explained what he had to do, how long it probably would take, and how much it would cost. He even finished a little earlier than expected. The car has about 155,000 miles and -- with the problems he has rectified -- he said he expects the car to go another 155,000 with normal maintenance.
Description of Work: Replace head gasket in 2001 Subaru Outback and all work associated with such a major repair -- including replacing all other gaskets in and around the engine, the thermostat, coolant, oil and filter -- and replaced the left drive axle.

He changed the oil, cleaned up the bottom of the car, and recommended all the other maintenance items that Sheehy should have been doing to keep the car running properly but had ignored. He got the car in great shape took care of the smell and he did it for a great price in my opinion. I thought he was courteous, attentive and honest. He really is good with Subaru's and is probably better than any dealership for Subie's for miles. I will definitely be taking my car there for any future services.
Description of Work: Fixed oil leak problems caused by Sheehy Ford in Ashland. Car's oil filler cap was left off, oil had spilled all over the bottom of the car and was causing as nasty smell. Told Sheehy about the problem numerous times and they never properly addressed the issue.
