The Davey Tree Expert Company

We've used Davey Tree several times now. They are always on-time, provide courteous service and expert tree trimming. What I most value is their expert opinion on the best way to handle my trees. I always rely on them to tell me the best way to nurture my trees and keep them healthy. Their prices are also very reasonable.

We had no idea anyone was coming to do this. About 1:30 PM on 4-27-2020 I heard someone beating on the downstairs front door. Crazy hard! They kept beating it for what seemed like forever. We are upstairs and usually can't hear very well but this was on another level. My 24 yr old son finally got down there and asked, what do you need? Short Hispanic guy just points at our vehicle saying , move it, our vehicle is out of commission. No gas and a dead battery for weeks now. My son told him and he started his doing the whole stare down , putting his arms up like come on, DEFINITELY threatening my son. My son then said if they beat the door like that again we Call the cops. I called your office in RVA, very upset, told what happened and hung up before telling the location, although I did say we were in Churchill. She must have been mad cause she then hung up on me after returning the call for the address( which I apologized for being ugly) It's whatever. I will never recommend y'all! I will tell everyone about this! Your guy threatened my kid! Who does this???

Excellent service and company. They are responsive, polite and they really know what they're doing! We expect to hire them again.

They cleaned up- yard never looked so good. Pleased. Very pleased.

Excellent service. They are friendly and competent. They cleaned up the work site and I found them fast and efficient. I'd gladly hire them again.

They did ok. They could have included the grinding of the stumps. They cut the tree down and left the stumps. It was an extra charge for them to come back to grind the stumps. You would think they were all part of the same service. They also left divots in my yard that I had to fill. They would have gotten a better grade on price if the tree stump service would have been included.

Work was done on time with better than expected results.

I think I found them on Angie's List. Overall it was excellent. I was not here when the service was not completed. They left the area very clean.

They've been treating my trees for years. I don't know about trees but my trees are still standing. They remind me. Sometimes I forget and they remind me like my doctor. They are good. They are very professional. I would have dropped them a long time. I am going to call them now to see how much they'll charge me to trim the trees. I've been using them for years. For the second time, they did my aeration but they've been taking care of the trees for years. I called them and told them that I saw some brown spots on my lawn. They came right away. They told me they were coming and they sprayed the brown spots.

They are great. They are excellent. They came just on time. They are punctual. All I can say is that on a scale of 1-10, they are 10. They've been working for me for years; for like 10 years. The last time what they did was my trees. They take care of my trees. I am going to call them too about these trees. I am going to call them right now.

They are good people. They are fairly expensive. They do a good job. I would use them again.

They are very good. I think that their price was comparable. They might have been a little more expensive, but they were very good. I would tell a friend that I would not hesitate calling them. They are very professional and they know what they are doing.

We have a contract with them. They take care of our trees, shrubs and grass. The fertilization costs $56. I've had them working on our yard and shrubs in our previous home as well. I'm very pleased with them.

This was a second estimate -- the other company was not on Angie's list and gave me an outrageously expensive estimate. I was happy and saved lots of money by using Angie's list and Davey Tree Expert Company. All Davey employees (3 groups of employees to complete the job) were pleasant and prompt and seemed concerned about saving my beautiful approx. 60 year old pink dogwood. Of course, it will perhaps be next spring before I realize the total results of the service, but I trust and expect positive results!

They're excellent. I was out of the country and when I came back; the neighbors would tell me how nice my lawn is. They're very good. I wouldn't call anybody else but them. I've been using them for years.

We are very pleased with them. They did a lot of stuff. I have ongoing service with them. I liked the way that they interacted with us. They gave us advice and we asked questions. We liked them.

This company is a pleasure to work with. The representative, Alec Selz, was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He was also very patient and understanding. He even helped coordinate work with his crew and Dominion Power crews. I have used this company twice and plan to use it again in the fall to renovate my lawn. The crews show up on schedule, are skillful at their jobs, are friendly, work hard, and clean up well.

I was surprised they didn't come earlier in the season for pre-emergent weed control, but I assume it was due to the unusually cold and snowy weather. As of now, my grass is beginning to green up nicely, but I also have a major infestation of Hairy Bittercress, a lawn weed with white flowers and seeds that pop up everywhere if you simply brush against them. I can't say for certain, but it looks like Davey may have overlooked treating one corner of the lawn without my being aware. I have a call into them to discuss remedial action because the crop of Hairy Bittercress is really bad in this area and appears to have spread throughout the lawn. I'll comment on their responsiveness after I hear back (on Monday, I hope).

I had a local HS boy doing the labor of spreading products and seeding the yards. the grass was in perfect shape. He went off to college and i hired Davey to take over with their own lawn service including using their own products. Within 5 months, the entire lawn is in half as good shape. It looks awful. When I complained to the Manager he offered to do nothing, unless I wished to pay him to do the repairs by buying additional services. I of course declined. I am having a local retired man spread Scott products on the lawn as of two weeks ago and it already looks much better I am paying about 1/3 as mich money and getting a much better lawn. The Davey experience was awful from the beginning to the end.

After the recent hurricane I contacted Davey in late August to remove a tree that was leaning from my yard on my neighbor's roof. A woman in the Davey office assured me that that they would come by on Friday, 2 Sep 2011, or early the following week. On 5 Sep 2011 a woman in the Davey office called my house and rudely interrogated my wife as to whether we still needed them to come by "because so many of the jobs had alrady been done." My wife stated that we still wanted Davey to do our job. When no one from Davey had come by 12 Sep 2011 I called the Davey office. Once again the woman in their office was rude. I asked when I could expect them to come by. She stated that "they are 3 weeks behind." I asked approximately when I could expect them to show up. She replied that she did not know. I asked why Davey had lied to me about them showing up on 2 Sep 2011 (or in the next few days) if they were 3 weeks behind. She replied that they were 3 weeks behind but offered no explanation for the deception. All I wanted was for Davey to be honest with me so that I could tell my neighbor when he could expect to begin work on his roof. This was a remarkably unprofessional performance by such a large company.

They did a good job. They responded promptly and gave me an estimate. They figured out the work in a reasonably timely manner. I was satisfied with them.

It was fine. It was done well. They came when they said they were going to come. They did what they said they were going to do.

They have done really good. The advice they have given about the trees has saved me some money. They saved me a couple thousand dollars over another companies advice. The treatments they have done, everything has turned out really well. The plants look really good.

They know what they are doing. They have good equipment. They know about trees. They are very careful and clean up well. They do good work.
