Description of Work: They ran piping from the floor to the sink. They overcharged me for the work as their original quote for the work was 1100. When I asked for a specific date everyone was in training. So I ended up with a plumber in training with no direct supervision and I didn't know because they didn't communicate to me that I would have a trainee. I didn't even know that until he came out that day. The problem with this company is that when I said that the price was way too high they brought it down to $560 but they threw a fit about it. I called them for another job because I wanted to give the company a second chance and then they put me on hold and then they said that they didn't want to schedule me at all.

+ -1 moreThe first visit was on 5/22/2013 where they cleaned out the tank. I told them about why I wanted it cleaned because water was seeping out of the tank.. after cleaning they left. two days later was there water on top of the tank again. did nothing at that time but was determined to call them if it happened again.On 6/1/2013 there was water again seeping out of the tank. I called them and they came out that afternoon and cleaned the tank with the pump. it was determined I needed either new floats or a new pump or both. Now that I had room to use the Facilities they arranged to have someone return on Monday afternoon (6/3). They came and determined that both pump and floats were bad and negotiated a price. I objected to paying for two cleanouts and we negotiated the second one down to their cost.On Tuesday 6/4/2013 they returned and completed the job to my satisfaction. In addition I mentioned that they were offering a 5% discount for seniors and they granted that discount. In conclusion I went through needless aggravation because the 5/22 people did not do their job.
Description of Work: They replaced the septic pump and floats and rewired the system so that there would not be future problems.

+ -1 morethey showed up on time and i showed them where everthing was.they did the job very quickly and cleaned up by putting the soil and grass back where it was. The receptionist told me they would do a special clean out using high pressure hoses to get the tank as clean as possible. The problem is I never saw them do that. Not only that but i never saw the clean tank because they were done so quickly that they had the hole filled in by the time i got to see it. Then the final issue was they did not rake all the soil back in the hole. Normally I would put down a cloth to catch the soil, but they just dumped it on the grass. so now I need to wait until the tank fills up to find out if they did a good job in about 4 years or sooner!!! The previous two times I had this done they took 2-4 hours to perform the cleanout. they were done in less than an hour!!

On the day of the job, Brent and Eric arrived on time and were very professional. They pumped our tank and cleaned up afterwards. They answered our questions regarding future maintenance and what to do should issues arise since we are first time homeowners. Thank you for a job well done and we look forward to working with Stemmle Plumbing again!

However, the tub clogged soon after and Stemmle came back to clear the drain thoroughly and it has run perfectly ever since. This second trip was not charged to me. I'm very happy with the service and the personnel. I have used them in the more distant past also, satisfactorily, and will continue to call them when I need a plumber!
Description of Work: Cleared clogged kitchen drain. Cleared bathroom drain. Checked "leaky" outdoor spigot - no work necessary.

+ 1 moreIt went very well. They showed up when they said they would, kept us informed every step of the way, and cleaned up really well. They're a little on the pricey side, but if you need your sewer pipe lined, they have the most advanced equipment in town.
Description of Work: Lined our sewer pipe and dug a root out of our basement toilet pipe. Required jackhammering through the concrete floor and digging down about four feet.

+ -1 moreCalled Stemmle Plumbing the Saturday before Christmas. They came early on Monday morning, Dec. 24th - on time. It was not an emergency so I didn't need someone over the weekend. I couldn't believe they actually came the day before Christmas. The servicemen were prompt, courteous and efficient. The cost included a trip charge so I thought it was reasonable. I will definitely call them again, if needed.
Description of Work: Kitchen sink was leaking water under the cabinet. Leak fixed.

Description of Work: Chesterfield County Health Dept sent me a letter to have my septic cleaned out. I went to Angie's List and found Stemmle and within 5 days, they were out here pumping. They explained every step of the procedure. They replaced the dirt and replaced all their equipment afterward. Yes, I will call them the next time I need the tank cleaned out .

They made quite an effort to save us a major repair bill, respect our property and help us recover as quickly as possible. They could have very easily taken advantage of us because of the earthquake and the urgency to get our water turned back on, but they did not. Kudos to Sam and Troy for their outstanding work and professionalism. I would recommend Stemmle Plumbing Repair to anyone without hesitation; their phone number now holds a permanent place in our phone book.
Description of Work: On 8/23/11, the area experienced an earthquake. When my wife and I returned home, we discoved a large volume of water coming out from our front doorstep. The county utility department responded and advised us that the water main from the meter to our house had broken and the water would have to be turned off. We contacted Stemmle Plumbing who responded fairly quickly to our house and set up an appointment for early the next day. We were advised that, due to the fact the the water main ran under our concrete driveway and front porch, both might have to be pulled up to make the repair. Stemmel advised they would try to avoid that if they could, but that there was a real possibility that the driveway or porch might have to be jack hammered. While I was cringing inside at that thought, I appreciated their honesty and being upfront on the problems that could arise. As promised, Stemmle responded early that next day and started working on the problem. They quickly discovered that the problem was a "T" joint that had broken from the earthquake. To avoid tearing up my driveway and forcing a major repair, they dug a twelve inch hole under my front porch and, literally, worked on their hands and knees for several hours to make the repair. What was even more remarkable was that I had medical tests performed on me early that mornin,g leaving me exhausted while they worked, and unable to supervise them. What a delight it was to find that they completed their work on time, as promised while taking great care not to damage my steps, porch or driveway. Even the plants in the adjoining garden were undisturbed.

My husband called the Chesterfield water department and they came out to check on the issue and said it wasn't a problem. We didn't appreciate that they wanted us to do work that actually wasn't necessary.

+ -1 moreThey were at my house within thirty minutes. The technician found a broken wire and mad the repair. I had to pay the premium beause of the holiday weekend, but it was worth it. I especially appreciate whenever a service provider gives you an honest assessment of the problem. I was prepared to face the possibility the pump needed replacement ($1200), but because of the technicians honesty I got out for only $350. I recommend these people.
Description of Work: My septic tank pump stopped working. I had called another company to work on the problem. They pumped the septic tank and pump station but did not work on the pump. Thier pump tech was not available. After waiting a week for the pump repair I called Stemmle.

+ -1 moreThe initial call informed me of a service call charge and that I would receive an estimate before they did the work. The technicians arrived promptly according to the schedule given to me by the dispatcher. They proceeded to check out the problem and gave me an estimate of the work. The price was more than I would have liked but not out of the anticipated range. Our house is quite a distance from the curb so there is more length to be cleared than normal. I approved the estimate and they completed the work in relatively short order. They cleared up after themselves and were on their way quickly.

All the work was done in one day and the workmen were professional and cleaned up everything before they left. I am very pleased with this company.
Description of Work: Stemmle repaired the water main into my house using a technology that lines the existing pipes with plastic. They were able to do the work without trenching the front yard. This method is supposed to last about 50 years.

+ -1 moreWe have used Stemmle before on a bathroom leak some years ago and were very pleased with the plumber's work and response. In mid July 2010 we called them on the weekend for a leak under the house. They advised that the fee would be higher for coming in on the weekend and asked if we wished to wait until Monday. We needed our water functioning. The response time was quick ad we were next in line to be served. Then the same connection leaked in September 2010. The plumber fixed it, admitted the problem stemmed from the first repair, and did not charge us. Of course, being fixed the first time is desired, but we really appreciate when mistakes are admitted and taken care of, especially at no charge.

+ -1 moreI live in Washington DC & had locally had a highly recommended sewer cleaning service come & video my sewer lines. I discovered that the old pipe had a significant crack under my front lawn. I got a proposal for about $4000.00 to dig up the front lawn & possible the large paved entry way in order to replace the old sewer piping., I did my own research & discovered CURED IN PLACE PIPELINING (CIPP)- Perfect For Older and Historic Properties. I found Stemmle plumbing to be willing to come up here from Richmond to diagnose the issue. I was so impressed with the complete analysis done & the video servicing that saw the significant crack under my front lawn, that I knew about --- but even more so, they discovered a larger & more significant crack under my foundation! I got a proposal in a couple of days & had them come up to do the CIPP. I must say that it was an awesome experience!! Although it was expensive, it is so worth it. I highly recommend them to come & diagnose your aging sewer lines. I can't say enough good words about them & the work. A godsend. I mean that.
Description of Work: I had a Stemmle team come up from Richmond to diagnose the trouble. They spent nearly 3 hours doing so. They did a CIPP method to actually utilize, strengthen and reseal the existing sewer pipelines that were very aged & cracking in 2 places; under the lawn & under the foundation wall. CIPP is an awesome newer technology to repair & strengthen aged sewer pipes that all will ultimately break down over time.

It turned out to be a non-trivial job, but Keith kept at it and cleared the line. I showed Keith a leak that I was concerned about. Keith tightened a fitting, fixing the leak at no extra charge. This was a very good experience for me and I will use these folks again.
