Slocum Contracting

At first, it went well. We had spoken in detail about the job assignment. When I asked for the details to be put in the contract, the deal went south. This was due to the additional $4,000 to be paid for additional work. I just wanted to know in writing, what was covered under the Angie's Big Deal and what was covered under the additional $4,000. The owner stated that he could not separate the costs. I did not understand this because in any contract, you must state what services you are performing and at what costs. I wanted to be able to negotiate the additional $4,000.

Lets get the bad out of the way: I scheduled an appointment, waited for them to show just to find out I wasnt properly scheduled on their end. Showed up late to work, not the end of the world. Rescheduled for a week later and they showed up on time and did awesome work! Gave the two painters an impossibly long list to complete because what do I know, Im not a painter? I wanted them to know what was on my radar and to get as much done in 8 hours as possible. I told the guys, work hard and Ill be happy. I came home from work 8 hours later and they completed my whole list--and a bathroom I didnt really ask for them to do (he said my one coat didnt look finished) and painted two coats in the hallway and bedroom. The painting looks great--the trim looks flawless. Painter asked if I minded him repairing some cracks in the wall to which I answered, "I trust you--make a professional call" (the cracks didnt bother me). They did everything! I cant speak highly enough of my painters yesterday!

Ken arrived on time, introduced himself and we went over the job. He did excellent work and I would not hesitate hiring him again. He was thorough, communicated well, was very neat and did anything I asked. Don't hesitate to hire.

After owner came , painters went into slow motion. Called owner and told him I wasn't paying for 2nd day to paint 1 room and hall. Painters only put on 1 coat of paint and barely finish, never even open 2nd 5 gallon paint!! They were working SOOO great till Owner came by to double charge me. Would not use them again

My first email may have been overlooked as I didn't hear back for 2 weeks. Once I sent a follow-up email the owner was very responsive and got me taken care of. Once we had a date setup the painters showed up on time and were very polite. They worked hard for 8 hours and were able to finish our 2 small bedrooms trim and all. Everything looks great. We will be using Slocum Contracting in the future for our painting needs.

It was good. They did really well. They were great. I was very pleased. I would recommend them.

I purchased a foreclosure home and the heating system was an oil furnace so I had a company come in and instal a heat pump for me. I had a partial basement and I wanted vents throughout. They had to run tubes in the corner of my guest bedroom. Slocum Contracting came out i hired him to build a closet around those pipes. He hung the sheet rock and installed a coating of joint compound as well. He got the first coat put on and I was amazed that he was able to get that done with the time he had. The rest I can now finish myself and I was very pleased. He was able to understand exactly what I wanted. I communicated with him by phone ahead of time and I was able to get everything that he needed before he came out.

Very professional company that I would highly recommend. Showed up on time for quote as promised. Showed up on time to do the work. Had the rooms ready for paint and they covered alot of ground in two days. Quality of the work was excellent. They cleaned up after themselves and the supervision was excellent. Very happy customer.

Initially we had a little miscommunication/misunderstanding about the amount of time the worker was supposed to be here but in the end we worked it out and the job was completed for the $299 we paid. I don't think I would ever pay a contractor by the hour anymore and would prefer to pay them by the job from now on, but in this case as I said, it was worked out. I "think" the guys name was Ken, he was very nice and got here right on time and he was very professional and courteous. I need my upstairs bathroom done soon and would not use them again because Justin the person I spoke too was very rude. 03/11/14 My wife called this contractor Justin not the handymen Ken who did the work on 02/10/14 because I was basically finish with talking to him because he was so unreasonable with our misunderstanding. She called because from the last job on 02/10/14 the drain plug from the vanity installed by them was not staying up since they left. We tried to deal with it but it became more aggravating so she called Justin to see if they can fix the problem since they did the work and again this Justin character began to say to my wife Its gonna cost you $60 to send someone to your house.This was the reason I did not want to go call them but my wife believe that there are fair people out there so she gave him the benefit of doubt. She even told him she will go back and write this review and he continued to be the rude and arrogant person I did not want to even hear. End results... whoever is reading this DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR because he is not fair to customers and greedy and this is why I purchased Angie list so I can let other people know foolish businesses like this one.

They were very professional neat plus creative. There work is beutiful. Ken was my technician. Everything I wanted.

I received multiple quotes for the job. Justin had the best understanding of our situation and what needed to be done to make the property ready for sale. He was able to schedule work for later that week and completed the job in 3.5 days. There was a 1 day delay due to weather, but otherwise everything was completed as presented. The house looks great and has that "turn-key" feel to make our potential buyers ready to move in. Thank you and I would use Slocum Contracting again in the future!

We couldn't be happier with the result! Our big bedroom (11x19) is now bright and cheery. The painters were wonderful, despite the challenges of a ceiling that needed a coat of KILZ for water stains, plus three windows to be trimmed and four double closet doors in addition to the room's door. They were thorough, courteous, and very effective in transforming this room that hadn't been touched for at least 22 years. I also appreciated the correspondence ahead of time, answering all of my questions and being very sensitive to the extra TLC our situation needed. I will definitely call Slocum the next time we have painting needs.

2 painters. Very satisfied with the work and have request quote for a different job. Supervisor came same day and we will make arrangement for service.

i am trying to get my parents house ready to sell and i live out of state. i contacted jason via email and he met me on a saturday to walk through the house and help me determine what i did and did not need to do in regard to painting. we had toyed with the idea of not doing anything but the bare minimum and i wanted to know from him what needed to be done and what could be left alone as we are on a tight budget. he really took his time and was very detailed and patient and presented me with many options and things to think about. he wrote a detailed quote on the spot and when he followed up in writing my email he stuck to the quote and didn't up it in any way. after a home inspection showed we had other issues to pay for we ended up going in another direction but i would call him again in a minute and was very appreciative of his time and patience with me as i dithered about doing the work or not. he was very knowledgeable and helpful.

I bought the contractor for a day deal and it was well worth it.

|I lowered my rating on quality and professionalism due to two things. First, there was a significant amount of paint dripped on the floor when they finished. One contractor did tell my husband he was sorry they didn't have more time to clean up, however, this was more mess than I would expect from a professional in the first place. Second, the deal specified that inexpensive supplies such as tape and spackle would be provided, but the painters used all of our tape and asked me to pick up extra when I went to pick up the paint. They brought very minimal supplies themselves and also used our buckets, rollers, etc. | |Neither of these were such large concerns to warrant a complaint and I do still give them a good rating, as our two rooms are now nicely painted. This was a really great deal for having 2 whole rooms painted and the service was decent, but you get what you pay for.

They arrived on time. It was for 24 hours of paint time so 3 came. The older of the three caulked while the other two painted. He finally helped paint the trim. I got all the surfaces I wanted painted but I am not sure it was really 24 hours of paint time. They moved a decorative tree but it was top heavy and it broke the internal structure they made an attempt to to fix it but the second I turned it around in the corner it sat in, it came loose again. They also pulled my dryer vent loose . I called the owner who was not present and he did say he would fix these items. However the tree base is a goner, and I asked my son to reconnect the dryer vent( it is a tight space). I feel as though the 600 dollars I spent was ok, but I don't think I would use them again. I found many ( although removable) drips and little white dots on my floors and door handles. I also have a small closet area in laundry room that I found some uncovered spots as well as a ceiling spot. I will correct them myself. When they are here you can't look at everything , or at least i can't It takes a while to look at all the surfaces. I am not sure if I am overly picky or not. I just know even though I didn't do it myself, I am more attentive to these things. They also didn't use shoe covers and it was raining these days they were here. I am torn regarding the rating. They were adequate but as I said I don't think I would take another chance on them currently. N

There are not enough great things to say about Justin and his crew at Slocum Contracting. The contractors arrived on time for both appointments we had with them. They provided a list of materials that they required (great for someone who wouldn't know drywall from fence posts...) They completed the work in an on time professional manner. They even worked with the materials that we had given them to create a wonderful, aesthetically pleasing layout with pea gravel and the bricks that we added on at the last minute. I heartily recommend this firm for any and all contracting needs.

Painting in several rooms was completed to our complete satisfaction. Workers were personable and professional. Owner stopped by to check on progress midway through the day. We would highly recommend them.

Painters arrived on time. The quality of their work was excellent. Clean-up was good and they departed on time. They worked at a steady pace and were able to do some trim work I didn't think would be possible in the time I paid for. I was very pleased and would certainly use this contractor again.
