Description of Work: Reverse osmosis Water Filtration System (Apec) under the sink unit put in. He also fixed a minor leak under the sink by hand twisting the ring on the right sink trap. He showed uncommon care and concern about the quality of our water since I told him my daughter and I had heavy metal toxicity issues. "JR" was a very kind man and even disclosed that the solder in our pipes had lead in it. We have lived here 30 years and no plumber either knew or told us that. He advocated to have our water tested through his company for free. Nonetheless we did take them up on the offer. That was very kind of them. It would have been $185. I think otherwise.

Description of Work: They were told that I needed a technician who was capable of troubleshooting a septic tank pump problem. The tech who came out was clearly not capable and his solution was to simply disconnect the tank level audible alarm.

Description of Work: Company arrived on time, and worked to unclog toilets and pipes. Provider Was able eventually to fix the clog, but blamed the clog on Charmin Toilet paper. That's the same paper we've been using for our entire tenure in our home. The house is old and the pipes are also old, and have never been serviced. They did not service those pipes, and never bothered to follow up to see if their solution was still working or if further services were needed. No customer service quality assurance methods.

Description of Work: Needed some parts replaced on a toilet. I set an appointment for them to arrive between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Someone from the office called in the morning saying that they had an emergency to which they needed to respond and needed to delay the appointment. The person I spoke to could not give me a definite time but said after 1:00 pm. They arrived close to 2:30 pm.

Description of Work: Sam, the technician from Roto Rooter, arrived within the hour after I called. He carefully explained to me what his Co. did and what he would be doing to open the clogged bathtub drain in my bathroom on the 2nd floor. I was concerned about the quoted price of $189 and he said there was a coupon on the Internet for $20 off. I said my printer is not working; he immediately assured me the coupon waS GOOD EVEN IF HE HAD TO ONLY LOOK AT IT ON MY PC. So the price was $169.00 using the coupon her verified by glancing at my pc screen when I located the coupon. I was relieved to get the lower price. Sam went to work on the bathtub drain and the clog was relieved and removed after 30 minutes. I was relieved and he showed me what had clogged the drain. ( I placed a white hair strainer device into said drain for future protection). I signed the paperwork for Roto Rooter, dated it, and we were done. I was very relieved that the bathtub was clear and usuable again. I would call Roto Rooter again. Description of Work: I used Roto-Rooter on February 18th 2011. They cleaned out the main sewer stoppage. They receded a toilet.

Description of Work: We had water backing up from the drain at the bottom of our outside steps and felt that if it continued it would back into the basement. Roto Rooter sent out two men who said they could use high pressured water to clean out the drain which they said went into the back yard. They had to use our well water (70 gallons) which isn't good because we have a well. The cost was outrageous ($500 quoted), but it was Friday at 4:30 and we didn't know what to do. They proceeded forcing water into the drain. The upshot was that all that water drained back into the basement, filled the drains around the outside of the house and began to seep in. We told them we weren't paying $500 for the mess they caused us. They said then they would take $149. We should have refused to pay at all because by Sunday afternoon, we had water coming in everywhere in the basement and by Monday morning, we had 4 inches of water in the basement. Where did that water come from? From Roto Rooter blasting it into a clogged drain which was not unclogged by their updated technology.

Description of Work: The plumbing became backed up at my elderly mother's house while I was out of town on a Saturday, a few years ago. On a Saturday, only Roto Rooter could come out,(they said they needed payment at the end of the visit), and I told them to check out things and then call me back, since my mother was frail & elderly. I did not hear anything back, so I called my mother, and she said they did come, but she didn't know what they did, besides dig a hole in the front yard, because they just left afterwards, but the plumbing was not backed up anymore. In the next few weeks we noticed there was water coming up out of the hole that they dug in the front yard. I called but they said they were not responsible for it. So I called another plumber, and he said the hole was dug in the wrong place, the pipe had been newly cracked, and now drain water was coming up out of the hole & pipe. It seemed that they had damaged the pipe and cracked it, but they said they did not.

Description of Work: I called them when the drains in my house were backing up. This would happen if too much water was running in the house. It would happen if the shower was on and say also the dishwasher and washing machine at the same time.

Description of Work: Last Thursday I called this Branch for assistance with a slow running drain. The drain was moving slowly, but still functioning. I explained that a screw from our faucet diverter knob had likely fallen into the drain and was causing a build up. That led to the clog. We scheduled a service appointment for 9 am to 11 am on Monday. On Monday I called to see when our technician would arrive. I was told that he would be there within the hour. At 12 pm the technician arrived. We discussed the problem. I explained to him what I had told the operator at the Roto-Rooter Headquarters. The tech suggested snaking the drain. We agreed to this service. After about an hour,I went upstairs to find the bathroom floor covered in dirt and the bath tub filled with a reddish sludge. Now, not only was the bath tub completely stopped up, the bathroom sink was draining into the bath tub. All had done so far was compact the clog further down into the drain line.

Description of Work: My 3-year old experimented with what he could flush down the toilet. After flushing Bob the Builder & Dinosaur washcloths, a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste and some swim googles, along with apparently hundreds of baby wipes, the toilet became clogged, and ultimately backed up sewage water into the shower.

Description of Work: My kitchen sink overflowed, so I called Richmond Roto-Rooter. They responded promptly, and I told her we had a big problem. They could clean out our cast iron drains for $1000, or replace them with PVC for $1580. They said that replacement was better, since the old pipes were corroded and would get clogged again. They replaced several drainpipes and fixed the problem. They also told my wife that another pipe was leaking and needed to be replaced. They wanted another $750 for this, but we declined. The entire time these 2 plumbers spent on this job was about 3 hours, including the time they went away to buy pipe for the repair. Later, they checked what they had done and also the leaky pipe that we told them not to fix. A few days later, I replaced this pipe myself for $30 in parts and 1 1/2 hours labor (myself working alone). I know what PVC pipe costs. I figure these men charged $250 an hour each for labor. I called the manager in Richmond several times, but he refused to talk.

Description of Work: The plumber cleaned out our backed up drain in the bathroom. Both bathrooms were back to back, and the plumbing connected there, so he ran a snake from one bathroom to the next one. He also cut a pipe that was too long.
