My 12 yr old push mower would stop running midway through my mowing, and recently began having trouble starting. I also had a 17 yr old small tiller (aerator and dethatcher) that wouldn't start any more. Bon Air Repair (also known as BAVA Repair) is a relatively new company run by a young friendly and polite guy named Reid. He works out of his garage (and sometimes onsite) so you don't have to pay for overhead, which means his prices are cheaper than taking your equipment to a "formal" repair shop. I selected this company largely because I don't have a truck to haul my mower and tiller across town for maintenance and repair. Since they are located right off Midlothian Turnpike, near Johnston-Willis Hospital, I didn't have to drive far. In fact, Reid brought his tools to my home and was able to repair the mower (and change the oil) in my driveway. Took him less than an hour, and that included cleaning the mower. Cost: $40 The small lawn tiller (aerator and dethatcher) required a bit more time, and a few special parts, so Reid took it back to his garage and had it ready two days later. Cost: $50 I'm quite pleased with the work done by Bon Air Repair and wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any small engine repair work. Reid provides good customer service, explaining in detailed, layman terms the repair work, and provides helpful tips to avoid future problems with the equipment. He also guarantees his work and encourages customers to call him should there be any future problems. He will come out and take care of it promptly, free of charge. Reid charges a $10 diagnosis fee for those who may just want to know the extent of repair needed (and maybe an estimate). The company repairs virtually all lawn equipment, generators, pumps and chainsaws. They also sharpen chainsaws and other equipment blades, I believe.
